I recently purchassed this combo from Musicians Friend. I must say I am very impressed with it. First, the units ( GB40 transmitter and PR40 receiver) come with everything you need to operate including cables and batteries. The size of the receiver is particularly impresive compared to other units on the market. The transmitter is cleverly designed to suit many guitars. Some users have critisized that the bug wigles around when you move, well the package comes with a velcro dot to fix that, and in addition the if the plug is well screwed and settled into the guitar the bug stays pretty much in place. As to the sound I find that for my use with an acoustic guitar, the quality and tone remain pretty much unaltered, distortion free, and clear. So fan I have had no problems with interference or drop-outs. I also recomend the purchase of the wms40 charger and the use of rechargeable batteries.Highly recommended!

I have only owned this for about 6 months, and have treated it gingerly enough. I had to put velcro on it and all my guitars before I could actually use it (the built-in spring is a joke), but other than that it was ok. it was hard to adjust the the levels on both the transmitter and reciever so that they wouldn't distort of cut out, though, and about a month ago the input jack on the reciever started getting loose. Then in the middle of the first song of our set at a gig the thing totally died on me and I had to send it out for repair. While your playing it's convienent to have such a small wireless, but off the stage the extra on/off switches and the lack of reliability make me wish I'd just sucked it up and stayed with a good old fashioned cable and used that leftover cash a little more wisely.

Freedom to move

By JacksonRulz-ueXpe

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

Very cool unit. Can they make this any smaller? I thought that I would have issues the other day when I powered on the receiver and could listen to a local TV station. When I powered up the transmitter the station went away and had NO interference, very cool. The on/off switches bug me a little as they are so small and I am unsure if they will last. The spring tension in the transmitter could have been stronger. That way it would suck up close to the guitar w/o flopping around like it does now. They do give you velcro to help with this. Value? What price do you put on freedom :) No more cables to trip on. I am loving it.

Freedom from cord

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

The transmitter had a little noise when it brushed up against my leg when playing but not noticeable to anyone but me. Afterwards, I modified mine to fit in the guitar strap with the wire from the transmitter to the guitar. I also added a battery pack for the receiver as it does go through batteries. Now the receiver batteries last forever. :) The batteries in the transmitter last for about three gigs with a little practice added in there.

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

I was really concerned in buying this, but i took the chance and it worked perfectly. I have a two story house and i walked outside and crossed the street and it still worked, and it didn't even break up or go quieter. it's awesome. must buy. might need some tape to keep it from flapping, but who cares, it works awesome!!! get it!!!

Great product

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

I bought this product about 8 months ago and everything is still working fine. there are only a few things that i dislike about it and they are the fact that the receiver requires batteries and go through them really fast and when i am playing with distortion i can not have the volume on the reciever up very loud cause otherwise I get a heavy feed back. So if I were you I would just buy the AKG WMS40 diversity guitar bug.

Awesome Product

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

This is my first wireless system and I am very satisfied with the results . I like the fact that it is small and fits nicly on a pedal board. Also the fact that there is the bug ( NOTHING ATTACHED TO YOU ) . But A few things I didnt like was the fact I had to redo all my settings , and it crossed frequency's with our bass players and you cant change the frequency . But Other then that I love it if you get one you might wanna put the velcro that it comes with on there so it dont flop around if your like me and jump around that will come in handy . It got great distance on it put it this way I took a crap during band practise and kept playing along with the band LOL . Well thats all bye

It Rocks. Period.

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

This was the best quality that you could get, in the smallest form possible! It was so small, when I opened up the box, I thought it might not work, or be some toy. They give you everything that you need to make it work, you don't have to set up ANYTHING on your own, and they give you all the cables to make it so you could even use it for things that aren't instruments. This was totally worth the significant damage it made on my wallet. It's a godsend. They even gave you the velcro! Genius!

Simply Rocks

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

I have had mine for over a year, and never never never had problems. My buddy owns one with the base unit, but I really prefer mine. I bought re-chargeable batteries. (A must, folks.) I simply always have fresh batteries at the beginning of a gig and have yet to have it go dead during one I LOVE IT!

Very Disappointed

By StringMan-vyKhB

from Bloomington, IN

Comments about AKG GB 40 guitarbug and PR 40 Receiver:

I bought the bug to help my stage performance because I jump around so much, and I was tired of getting caught up in my cable. Little did I know, but the bug flies off the guitar on the first sign of movement large movement. If you are an energetic young bugger like I am, and want to have a wireless system, try something else, because the battery casing flies off every time I tried to use it, and if I taped it down, it still always found a way to unravel itself and fly off. Even when I would stand still and just flow with the music, the bug would come off. If you are a sit-down kind of artist, then maybe this product is for you.
