Caution!

Features:

A word of advice: the headphones you recieve are not "mkll"s". They are the ols SUPRAAURAL(they fit "on" the ear) K 44's and not the new MKll "circumaurals" (fit completely "around" the ear) meaning they are not as specified and do not provide good isolation.

Quality:

I can only rate them a 5 because they are not as specified  or as ordered. They are basically plastic but seem sturdy enough and have a design that doesn't have obvious flaws that look prone to breakage.

Value:

For me, even though I admittedly bought them on sale, they have no real value as I ordered the MKll's as shown in the catalogue and online which are as stated previously, circumaural. The old K44's I recieved are clearly marked in three places "supraaural", and are not not circumaural so they do not provide the isolation I required. And again, what I was shipped and what MF has told me in several emails are the only model they have are the old K44 and ARE NOT K44 MKll's.

Overall:

While they sound okay, because what i was hipped was not as described or ordered I cannt give them anything more than  5. I would suggest if you bought some, you check to be sure the package is clearly marked K 44MKll or you do not have the new model. This comes straight from MF and AKG.

Features:

A plastic tour de force. Good comfort and very light weight. Includes a 1/8' to 1/4" adapter

Quality:

They are OK I wouldnt go tossing them around much, they seem somewhat fragile.

Value:

The sound quality at low to medium levels is pretty darn good. really sounded good plugged into a computer or MP3 player.

Overall:

Sound quality and separation is good I like them but for any use other than light, invest in a more rugged pair.

Features:

These headphones suit my needs for the price. Using them for my home studio &  theater . Sound quality is acceptable with little to no distortion or loss. I wouldn't recommmend these for a professional application but for general home use they are more than adequate!

Quality:

built better than most.

Value:

Exceptional value! Tried out many at twice the price with less results.

Overall:

Great for home use & general (non profesional) applications.

Don't expect high performance for the low cost of this product. I don't think these were intended  for high performance, just a low cost all around , decent set of headphones!

Comfortable closed-ear headphone, a bit bassy

| Review By: BJ-2Gkua | 3 weeks, 4 hours ago

Features:

Very comfortable and light.  Unlike other closed headphones, does not squeeze or tire my ears.  Nice long cord, comes off just one side so it stays out of the way.

Quality:

Light plastic construction, but seem plenty sturdy to last a long while for my personal use.

Value:

Got as a "Stupid Deal" for about $20, and it was a great value.

Overall:

I bought these to monitor as I make multitrack recordings.  Closed design is essential to isolate sounds of old tracks so they don't bleed into new track.  These phone are too bassy for mixing and eq'ing but just fine for monitoring.

AKG K-44 MK II Headphones - Great Value!

| Review By: Studio151 | 3 weeks, 4 hours ago

Features:

I bought a pair of these to try out in my studio as a closed back set of phones for musicians to use while recording. I wasn't expecting much based on the price, but I was pleasantly surprised! These are fairly lightweight, comfortable and sound excellent for a $49 set of headphones! The build is mostly plastic, but sturdy enough if you don't abuse them and I like the fact that you have the 1/4" and 1/8" plug options.

Quality:

For quality I am giving them a 9 only because they are not top of the line headphones, that said, the sound quality rivals that of headphones costing 2 or 3 times as much - they sound great!

Value:

Value for the dollar you can not beat these! The Audio Technica ATH-M20's come close for about the same money, but in my opinion these are a little more detailed in the midrange frequencies. Excellent value!

Overall:

Once I listened to these for a while and gave them a full test on classical, jazz, rock and alternative music I decided that I would pick up a couple more sets to keep in the studio. AKG has a reputation for excellence in their high end microphones and headphones and that standard has definitely 'bled through' to these! I don't believe you will find a better sounding set of headphones for $49! Buy them!
