Comments about Alesis iO4 4-Channel 24-Bit Recording Interface:
Not sure what the one reviewer is talking about as far as poor quality. Sounds like he purchased a used unit that was pretty abused before hand. Anyway, I got mine a few months ago, and it has been great. 4 ins, good preamps, low latency using asio4all. Not only that, I was able to pair this unit with a second audio device and record with them simultaneously giving myself 6 inputs using asio4all and cubase. This worked great to record my band's demo. We ended up with great results.

Comments about Alesis iO4 4-Channel 24-Bit Recording Interface:
This looks great physically and on paper, but due to their poor quality assurance and low manufacturing specifications/tolerances, that fades away quickly.
To connect to your computer, use the included USB cable... Ooops!!! No USB cable.
"After making all of your connections, plug in the power supply." OK, I guess I'll supply my own duct tape to hold the power supply into the back, because the power port won't hold it by itself, therefore you can't keep the unit powered on. If you get it on and breath too hard or touch the unit, power goes off/on/off/on!
The picture makes this look like it's made of machined aluminum, but of course it's cheap painted plastic (expected). However, I didn't expect the manufacturing tolerances to be so out of wack that they don't even line up corrrectly leaving a rough seam in several places where the top and bottom meet.
The limited one year manufacturer's warranty???? Forget it. Apparently even though they obviously sell a lot of their equipment through online resellers, their warranty is only covered by sale through their listed authorized resellers which of course are only BRICK & MORTAR locations!!!

Comments about Alesis iO4 4-Channel 24-Bit Recording Interface:
Great interface with everything you need for multi-track recording. Its 24bit better than cd recording 1-2 tracks at a time and 16bit cd quality when doing 3-4 tracks at once (into separate tracks on your DAW.) This should cover all your needs for "studio style" recordings. 4 mics on the drummer and recording the guitar/bass amps stereo or plus the clean signal for reamping as a backup, both at 24bit. There is a volume and analog out for your monitors and a separate volume for headphones so you are setup to listen any which way while connected to the DAW via USB. If you are looking for more separate tracks recorded at the same time than 4, you will need to go to a firewire or thunderbolt interface. Nice efficient size footprint for all the features. Great value!
