Comments about Alesis TransActive Portable Powered Bluetooth Speaker System:
This is a well-designed, simple-to-use battery powered speaker. Battery is rechargeable so you don't have to keep buying them. Very compact in size yet produces a reasonably powerful sound for situations where electrical power is not available. Perfect for a tailgate party for 25-50 people or a small outdoor wedding ceremony. You can plug in a wired mic and any portable battery powered music source and you are good to go. I wouldn't recommend it for high powered current dance music
Specs are curiously vague on the power rating of the built-in amp but I'm guessing it could be 25 to 50 watts peak. Wonder why Alesis has chosen to not provide that info in the specs?
Specs say it takes 6 hours to fully charge the battery and, on a full charge, the battery is supposed to last "up to 50 hours." Hard to believe- 50 hours! Most users would be satisfied with 5 to 10 hours.
One shortcoming- there are no tone controls, just volume controls for each of the 3 channels. So you'll have to use your input source to tweak the sound. Bluetooth connectivity was easy to set up and the built-in USB charger is a nice feature.
