Professional MIDI USB controller integrated with Serato ITCH software.

The Xone:DX is a performance audio controller for electronic DJs and is the result of close design collaboration between Allen & Heath and Serato. The Xone:DX with Serato ITCH DJ software offers 4 Virtual Decks and Serato DJ FX.

Allen & Heath are the fourth major manufacturing partner to co-engineer on the Serato ITCH platform. Using their 40 years of experience creating world-class mixers and specialty controllers, Allen & Heath has created another excellent medium for electronic music performance. The Xone:DX with ITCH provides the electronic performer with precise control and manipulation of more audio.

Built with over 100 preset performance commands and some serious audio processing, the 4-channel mix control on the XONE:DX is routed to a massive 20-channel 24/96k USB sound card. This means the Allen & Heath mixer comes equipped with loads of extra inputs and outputs for integration with other audio tools or simple blending of your existing external audio equipment like a turntable, drum box, or sound module.

The 4 Virtual Decks of the Allen & Heath XONE:DX mixer exist in a clean uncluttered environment on the ITCH software interface. Using the DX library navigation control, you can quickly make selections from your crates. You can then accurately mix 4 audio tracks on the virtual decks along with other external sources. Each of the XONE:DX's virtual decks can be assigned multiple Serato DJ FX that are hosted in ITCH software.

The collaboration has resulted in a portable piece of digital DJ technology, absolutely brimming with features and high-end specification. Because the
DX is official ITCH hardware, Serato has made sure it all works right out of the box.

    A Solid, Well-Made, Feature-Rich Controller

    By DJ Michael K.

    from Annapolis, Maryland

Comments about Allen & Heath Xone:DX USB MIDI Controller with Serato Itch:

I've owned my Xone:DX for about 10 months now. When I first started using it, I had some serious issues with the software just freezing up or the sound glitching. Turned out it was my laptop, not the Xone:DX. I've been running it pretty much weekly with a new, more powerful laptop and it's been doing fine -minimal problems. My biggest complaint is that the mixer is not analogue -it runs all signal through the software. This means that if your computer dies, the mixer dies -even if you have external CD players hooked in. The same goes with the mic input -it runs through the software and I've noticed a slight delay that I just can't seem to correct. It's so annoying that I actually run the Xone:DX through a small analogue mixer so I can use that mixer's mic input. It's an extra step (and an extra road case to carry) but it's served me well. This also gives me aux ins (CD players, etc.) that will still work if the Xone:DX dies.Another complaint: the flimsy power cord. I would expect a unit like this -as well-made and beefy as it is- to have a nice relatively thick power cord but instead it has this super-thin cord that ends in a wall-wort kind of plug. I'm very careful with it because I'm concerned it will wear/break easily with a lot of heavy/regular use.As far as features, there are tons! And they all appear to work quite well. Loops are seamless and easily adjusted. The effects can be layers for each deck (of which you have FOUR!) but they way they're laid out/configured took me a little while to understand/get used to.The unit itself is very nicely built. It's not same cheap piece of plastic; it has an all-metal casing and the knobs, switches and fades are all quality components. I found a that you can use a ready-made road case marketed for the Numark IDJ2 to house the Xone:DX -with slight modification- since actual Xone:DX cases were impossible to find when I bought mine.Bottom line, I've "test-drove" several other DJ controllers in my quest for the one that is right for me and the Xone:DX definitely came out way at the top -which is what I would expect for the price tag. I've been DJing professionally for nearly 17 years now and I've found the old saying continues to ring true: "You get what you pay for."
