I run a small 7 man multi-op entertainment compnay in St. Louis, and music is my FULL time job. We do everything from live music, to open mic nights, PA rental, karaoke, private and corporate events, trivia. YOU NAME IT.
That being said, I don't know that I would use them for live sound for bands? Maybe just a vocal only, but the low end I don't think would handle the kick or bass very well. I may try them to see how they handle a plain 4 string next week and edit this later. As of right now, I am considering changing all of my systems over to these as long as they can prove to be reliable. I was switching everything to the K series, but for a 1/3 of the cost, I don't think I can justify the pricetag difference, especially when compared head to head.
Pretty simple 2 inputs and one thru output on the back, with a volume control for left and right, or 1 and 2 depending on how its termed. It would be nice to have a seperate switch for Line/Mic input and perhaps some RCA inputs as well.
The clarity of this product up until a certain volume level compares ALMOST to my QSC K12s. I have had them side by side, and played everything from country, rap, dance, blues, jazz, pop, and classical through them, the QSC's come out ahead in every category, but I do believe a lot of it has to do with the actual LF driver used in these ALTOs. They lack a bit in the low-mid freq range and don't have the THUMP that the K12s do while in DEEP mode, but that is due largely to the K12's DSP built into their amp and a better driver. In Normal mode, they were almost head to head with the K12's sounding a bit more natural and not as colored, but the clarity was every bit as much there. I even A/B'd them against one another to a couple of regular customers at the end of the night, who actually preferred them over the K12 not knowing the cost comparison between the 2 speakers.
For the 300 dollar entry price that I purchased them at in April of 2012? Seriously? As long as their reliability equals the sound quality, the value is FANTASTIC. As an owner of 5 FULL PA systems (including subs monitors tops etc), from JBL to EV, to QSC, for smaller venues and straight DJ playback, these are fantastic.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
I bought this based off a few opinions from people i trust, and I am glad I listened to them. The setup for these is so simple, and can be done multiple ways. This model has a built in two channel mixer that can help save on money. I have played music through it and it sounds amazing and can get loud.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
I love the ALTO TS112A speakers, they sound great, crystal clear, vocals sound perfect with the exact right balance of bass and treble. Even at higher volume levels they're very smooth sounding and don't seem to have the hot spots like with some others. I play in restaurants and sometimes get complaints if it's too loud. With the ALTO's I'm able to still crank it up without offending the old lady in the front row. Great speakers at a killer price!

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
I was shocked the first time I heard these at a shootout against the other brands at this price. They simply blew away the Behringers and Mackies. They are so clear and LOUD. It's incredible that these cost so little. I'm VERY pleased with the TS112As. I'll be buying more as soon as I get some more storage space.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
I bought a pair of these and right out of the box they sounded great and the output was even more powerful than I needed. Then one of them started malfunctioning and I thought " great ! I guess you get what you pay for..."
The returns dept. at Alto said I had to pay outgoing shipping for the repair but they did everything to get me a working product. I am overall pleased with the customer service. Sometimes you just get a defective part. It happens. It has been several months now and no problems. I think that for the price, these are quite stupendous-that is of course, if the quality lasts for several years. So keep an eye out for that. My one gripe is that the PEAK or CLIP light is in the back of the speaker, so you have to get up and walk around to the back of the speakers several times whilst checking your audio levels. In certain applications, like DJ'ing, I could see that being preferable though.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
Very impressed with the quality and power from these speakers. They are little heavier than I expected, but considering the power, not an issue. They also seem to be built with strong quality material.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
So far I used this speaker on one gig. It really performs well sounds like a JBL eon or QSC K-series for less than 300 bucks this thing is pretty amazing. It seems like they took the JBL design and made it in China and to keep the cost down. I really like the contour switch which it adds bottom and highs to the sound.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
A world of improvement over the last model I bought!
I previously bought a Behringer Eurolive B212D to use as a choir monitor for a performance a few months ago. It worked great for about 10-15 minutes at which time it began overheating and the sound starting cutting in and out. It was so bad that the choir had to perform without a monitor.
Needless to say, I wanted to make sure that the next model I purchased did not have this problem. I bought an Alto TS112A, and after it was delivered I hooked it up and ran it at 50-75% volume for about an hour straight to test its endurance. With the exception of some subtle, almost undetectable, clicking that I only noticed near the end of the hour, the monitor produced an awesome, clean, crisp sound! I have been very pleased thus far and highly recommend this product to anyone needing a two-way active speaker.

Comments about Alto TS112A 12" Active 2-Way Speaker:
I bought two of these after extensive research into the comparable Mackies, Behringer's and JVC's. Thus far I believe my research paid off and I bought the best powered speakers for the money.
I have a two-person acoustic/vocal group and the size and power of these speakers have fit the bill very well. I am running these with an Allen and Heath ZED 14 mixer so very very little noise beyond what is intentional.
The speakers are light and equipped with handles in all the right places. I would say my impression is that the Alto's seem better built than the Behringer's and Mackie Thumps and definitely beat these two comparables on sound quality.
It's all about what you are using these for. No, these won't fit the bill for a 5 man metal band looking to rock a large room. Use your head, you need a bigger rig than this or at least have sub units to push more bass. If you're a smaller/quieter act or a DJ looking to boost your higher end these are definitely WORTH consideration.
