One unit can serve as a self-contained PA system.
The American Audio DLS-15P 15" 2-way Speaker has a die-cast 15" woofer with 3" voice coil and a high-frequency compression horn housed in a trapezoidal ABS cabinet with built-in 300W power amplifier. With 2 mic inputs (XLR and 1/4" stereo) with mic volume control, XLR and RCA line inputs, and controls for bass, treble, and volume, you can use the American Audio PA speaker as a self-contained sound system. The DLS-15P speakers can be flown, stand-mounted, or used on the floor as a monitor with included brackets.

I bought a pair of these on clearance for about half price. I used them one time for a small wedding reception. They were awesome. Plenty of power for a small party. I wanted to use them for monitors for my band, but ended up selling them for twice what I paid for them. I wished I had them back. I will be buying some at full price now. You cannot put a lot of bottom end into them. They will distort, but you can use them for recorded music at a pleasant level.

i've owned this speaker for 5 years now, and it has lasted... barely; it sends a piercing feedback when you turn the output knobs over 3/4, the fuses blow every few months, its unusually heavy and awkward to transport, very quiet- barely can be used as a rehearsal monitor. if you have the extra dollar- spend it on something else.

Pushing the low frequencies brings heavy distortion. Bit of buzzing too. Highs work really well. Don't plan on using these without a sub or bass amp though.

I got these for obvious reasons, I coudn't afford the Mackies or JBLs! As noted, the bass leaves something to be desired. One of my pair has less than the other. So subs are definitely in order for larger crowds. I REALLY appreciate the extra in/outputs, INCLUDING RCA. I'd like to get another pair for back up AFTER I get some JBLs next. Powered is the way to go as a Mobile DJ and these are great for start ups.

These Chinese made powered speakers sound like a good deal, but I bought two of them and when I got them home, one of them didn't work right out of the box. I returned it and got another one. Even though they are rated at 300w, you can't push them even to the halfway mark without massive clipping. I use a really nice Mackie mixing board with it and it didn't help. They are totally muddy sounding with no high end at all. Vocals don't cut through even with the amps turned down. At best, you could run your iPod through them at a party. Pay the extra money and get something reliable.

I took these speakers to Kuwait and use them outside in the blazing heat sometimes over 100 degrees and they never failed. The only thing I recommend to make them sound better is a SUB for out door use. Indoors up to 200 people they crank anything over that its better to have a sub.

After using a pair of American Audio APX Power Pro's for a few years, I decided to pick-up a DLS-15P last Summer. The first thing I noticed was the increased size & weight of the unit (which could be a good thing). It's got a nice, clean sound, but is lacking on the low end. Besides that, ADJ took away the 1/4" TRS line input on this speaker. Who really needs a RCA input? Finally, within a year, the speaker developed a loud buzz, the horn started getting muddy and finally the whole thing just died. ADJ (American Audio) has some great product ideas, unfortunately they don't seem to put them through enough testing before they go on the market.

I had a QSC amp and four Gemini passive 3-way cabinets for over five years. Never a problem, great sound.Bought two of these to cut down on the overall weight and bulk of what I was hauling to gigs.Their sound is muddy compared to any 3-way speaker. Really. They clip and distort when pushed. Considering they have their own internal amp, that's a real disappointment.And this past Saturday, at a wedding, during the announcement of the bridal party, one gave up. Lots of clicking, cutting out, etc. I honestly never drove these speakers that hard... so the moral is... you get what you pay for.I'm buying replacement Mackies today. :-(

Very good sound quality. The mic input and volume control right on the back of the speaker is very convieient, eliminating the immediate need for a soundboard. Very pleased with these speakers.

I bought an electronic kit and was looking for something to use as a monitoring system for on stage. I tried 2 Behringer B300 and the damn things lasted two shows and I vowed to never buy them again.. I came across the American AudioDLS-1FP. It was a blemmished item but I figured for the price I'd try it out. It has been the best decision I've ever made on a purchase for a self powered monitor. My kit puts out some for low frequencies and this speaker has held up to everything I've thrown at it. I only use one right now and would like to get another one eventually, but I'm in really no hurry because just the one has been plenty so far. It pounds out enough sound to cut through for stage volume and enough for the crowd in the back of the club to hear. I highly recommend this item to all who need a reliable powered speaker system. This thing rocks!!!!
