The headphones' soft-touch housing delivers maximum comfort whether it is resting against your ears or your shoulder. The HP550 headphones' foldability and universal joint enable you to save space and store the headphones folded. The universal joint also makes it possible to turn the American Audio headphones outward freestyle single-ear monitoring.
To accommodate the variety of DJ equipment in use these days, American Audio HP 550 headphones are equipped with a mini plug as well as a pair of 1/4" adapters (1 straight, 1 right angle), each with a locking nut to prevent accidental unplugging during a gig. The headphones' partially coiled cord is approximately 14.5" long. American Audio delivers HP 550 headphones with a handy storage bag.

These are an amazing bargain. I've ordered another pair in case I lose these.
These headphones have a high power rating and sound good across the board. They fold up, have a bag, a high-quality coiled cord, and two 1/4" to 1/8" adapters - one is normal and the other is the 90 degree type.
The highs aren't super piercing which is good for my hearing, the bass is nice and clear without overpowering everything else.
Like many headphones twice their price, they are constructed of plastic so they shouldn't be thrown around. They should be fine with normal use, since unlike some expensive headhphones I've owned, they have the thin metal strip inside the plastic across the headband.
The sound isolation is quite good, I work better with a small amount of leakage than in dead quiet. These suit me perfectly.
Again, I've paid over twice as much for a "high-end" brand that didn't measure up to these.

I purchased these to mix some home recordings. Upon opening the package, I was taken aback by how cheap they appeared. The plastic looks and feels crummy. I am afraid they will not last very long. As for the sound quality, they are decent. That is why I gave them a 3. The sound is pretty flat and works well for mixing, but I would not use them to listen to my records. The bass, as others have pointed out, is not boomy or impressive, but it is there. If you are a big hip hop fan, you may be disappointed. I would not recommend this product to a friend. And if / when they break, I am going to look elsewhere for a new pair.

I looked for a long time for a set of cans that would sound good without breaking the bank. I went ahead and ordered a set of these. If they didn't perform the way I needed, at least I would have a set that my son could use to practice with his keyboard.
Simply put, I was blown away by the sound quality. I have used headphones that cost 4 times as much, and these more than hold their own. They are a great value.

I recieved the American Audio HP550s in the SNOW color for an early X-mas gift and I was blown away with how good they sound. No they are not the top of the line but definitely worth it for the price and are very confortable even with extended use. A great starter headphone

I bought these cause I wanted some nice headphones for reasonable price and at first they worked great until the right side started to "buzz" at most frequencies probably within the first month of having them. I need to call American Audio to try and get them RMA'd. I like the design and they are comfortable. I like the flexibilty so i'd really like to get them replaced and hopefully have them stay clean enough for a bit longer. In the mean time, I bought the Shure SRH440 and they are doing great. I guess you get what you pay for in the long run, but it might also be a matter of luck.

These are great headphones. They sound amazing! Especially for the price you get them at. They come with a case, and adapters. I was surprised to see the headphone input but they send an adapter so it makes no difference. They are great headphones the only down side is the fact the earpads are not very big, therefore they cover your ears but dont enclose them completely. Small complaint but other than that an awesome buy@
