Fix it in the mix!

Hailed as a "holy grail of recording" by Recording magazine, Auto-Tune is a multiplatform plug-in that corrects intonation problems in vocals or solo instruments, in real time, without distortion or artifacts, while preserving all of the expressive nuance of the original performance with audio quality so pristine that the only difference between what goes in and what comes out is the intonation. Over a typical pitch correction range, it is simply not possible to tell that a sound has been processed, except that it is perfectly in tune.

Auto-Tune is used daily by thousands of audio professionals around the world. Whether to save studio and editing time, ease the frustration of endless retakes, to save that otherwise once-in-a-lifetime performance, or to create striking special effects, Auto-Tune 4 is the tool of choice.

Prepare to be amazed.

Automatic Mode

Most common pitch problems can be corrected by Auto-Tune 4's Automatic Mode. Automatic Mode instantaneously detects the pitch of the input, identifies the closest pitch in a user-specified scale (including minor, major, chromatic and 26 historical and microtonal scales), and corrects the input pitch to match the scale pitch. A Retune Speed control lets you match the retune rate to virtually any performance style.

Graphical Mode

For meticulous tweaking, the Graphical Mode displays the performance's detected pitch envelope and allows you to draw in the desired pitch using a variety of graphics tools. This mode gives complete control over the correction or modification of the most elaborate expressive gestures.

Amazing Plug-In!!!

By Ben-Vl9Ol

from Festus, MO

I've used this on several projects and in blows other pitch correction software out of the water!!! Great investment, definitely worth your while. For bands with intricate melody lines or vocalists who are still working on their perfect pitch:) this is a massive time saver. For producers and engineers this is a massive headache saver. Not even the best vocalist is constantly perfect. Get this plug-in!

Customer Service Stinks

By Scottie Dog

from Indiana

Overall, I would say that this product is difficult to use. You have to have a degree in music theory to understand the manual, and even then, it's not a big help. It does do its intended purpose when you get it set up correctly. The big problem is their technical support. When we called them for help, they just patronized and demeaned is because we were not "smart" enough to use their product. Unfortunatley, they have a unique product so they can be jerks and get away with it

Great product great service

By Donalddole

from medford, OR

It works virtually seemlessly. I am very pleased with vocals, and it also worked on saxaphone! I had a problem with graphical mode and I called and they politely explained it. I think the guy who complained about the customer service didn't know what a key or scale was and got mad because tech support didn't do music 101! I was up and running instantly with minimal music theory knowledge. I just wish they would come out with Auto-Harmony as well, that would be rockin!

Solid, But Pricey

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Okay, Auto-Tune works wonders and can save a whole lot of time when tracking vocals. I do believe, however, that it is widely over-used in the audio industry. Let us not sacrifice talent for technology. However, if you just don't have great pitch but want your voice in a project, it can help. And it is great for backing vocals. However I find it hard to fork over this much money for a piece of software that only does one thing and that I only use sparingly.

This is a awesome plug. You need this thing. The pitch correction is'nt 100% perfection in my opinion, but it's good enough to warrent forking out the cash. Buy the Vocal Producer rack unit auto-tune also and you'll have another way to get vocals right. Record with the Producer unit on first if you like, or just use Auto-tune 4 after you have recorded the vocals. Find your approach!

Auto Tune 4 is OK...

By Barry--ju-Z

from Birmingham, AL

Auto Tune 4 is a good program. I've heard people say it's the greatest thing ever and I've heard others say that it's terrible. I think both comments would be extreme. I'll first say that AT4 is not a terrible program, it does a good job at correcting pitch problems. I'll also say that it's not the "holy grail of recording". If I were a potential customer I would definately check out Celemony's Melodyne program, which you can also buy here on Musician's Friend. They don't offer Melodyne Uno, but I imagine they will soon. You can go to and download a free demo to get a feel for it. I own both programs (AT4 and Melodyne) and I consistantly get better results using Melodyne, not to mention it's easier to use and it's about half the price for Melodyne Uno (which is what I use).
