The reason it is a 7 is I do not have other amps to compare it to.
Does what it says. I have tons of headphones Sennheiser HD600, HD555, HD595, Grado SR-60 and SR-80 and various others. At halfway point on the volume knob, the volume is very loud with out distortion. I am using various 1/8 and 1/4 jacks in to the amp. I used a quality stereo cable coming from a Audigy 2 card. This is my first headphone amp, but I am impressed with it. It provides plenty of clean power to all the headphones with our distortion. The volumes can be turned up very loudly. I am at the halfway point and that is the extent of what my ears can handle. Anymore I will go deaf.
I will say this is my first headphone amp, so I do not have anything to compare it to. But it really does seem like a very good amp. It gives clean power up to 8 headphones.
Solid Build. All metal housing. Nice smooth volume knobs. I actually feel you get tons of value especially in the audio world.

Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
Some people have been having problems. PLEASE NOTE this ONLY takes a balanced jack (TRS) input from a stereo source, also on a TRS jack. plugging it in with a guitar lead will lead to mono. Can be partially solved by half popping the jack out of the amp. People who don't know their cables shouldn't be allowed to write reviews.
Great little unit, low noise, nice and compact, lots of gain (enough to deafen yourself should you want to).

Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
I got this Art Headamp 4 Headphone Amp to replace a Nady version that did not work out do to a defect. This Art amp is great in every way. It has both 1/8 & 1/4 sockets for inputs and outputs, which makes it very versatile. It looks neat and sets well on the mixing desk and is built like a tank. If you are looking to boost and expand your computer and recording equipment this is the device. I am using mine to let me use multiple speakers with my computer so I can get a better quality sound from recording playbacks, but it also enhances the sound quality of music and voice from the computer as well.
All-in-all this device expands the possiblities of my studio and computer. Great buy, good price. Also MF made the trade and exchange in a timely and professional manner. They are a pleasure to do business with.

I do a lot of home recording to promote my teaching and performing business as well as occasionally recording other small bands. I only had one headphone out on my recording interface which made life difficult recording other people. I bought this before my last session recording a folk duo and it made all the difference in the world. Worked perfectly, the knobs feel great, had all the volume I wanted up to only about 5 or 6. You may need a dual male stereo quarter inch or eighth inch plug to hook it up to your source however (I had one, so no problem). So pick one up before you need it.

Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
I actually really like this little thing. Im getting a pretty loud sound out of it and its verry helpful for recording, because it allows me and who ever it is laying down the tracks either it be singer, guitarist, whatever it works really good
Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
This would be the perfect headphone amp for me - if it worked. Defective unit? Perhaps - can't get any high volume, lots of noise, and if I run a mono signal into both channels it becomes horribly distorted. Pan the signal either left or right and it's o.k. (but still not very loud). Weird. Don't waste your money by saving money.
Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
I've barely used this yet, so I just gave it fours across the board. I really mostly want to clarify that it is definitely stereo, and I'm certain most of the people claiming it isn't haven't read the information on it. It VERY CLEARLY says that if you try to listen to a mono source using a stereo to stereo cable, it'll only come out one side. Common sense issues aside, I have to try it with drums to see if it's loud enough, but I think it will be. Even so, I'll finally be able to monitor people as I record them, instead of after, which is definitely worth the money. Also, for the headphone packages, the headphones are uncomfortable, but pretty good otherwise.
Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
I've had this headphone amp for a couple years now and I can't complain at all. I've read some less than perfect reviews but this product works perfectly for me. I'd say that: If the sound doesn't come out stereo or complete, make sure that your headphones are plugged in all the way. That has been overlooked before. If you can't crank one channel loud enough to hear the cue over the drums you're playing, turn the input up. If that doesn't work, switch to earbuds or better yet, sound iso in-ear moniters. But watch out, this thing can get loud! I never usually have mine above halfway on any channel. Like I said, I've never had any problems with mine- I use it constantly. And as a bonus, there are actually eight outputs. Four of them are 1/8 inch and the other four are 1/4 inch. They CAN all be used simultaneously. Everyone just has to share a volume knob/channel with someone else. I have done this in a pinch.
Comments about ART HeadAMP 4 Stereo Headphone Amp:
I use this ART HeadAmp4 right off the headphone monitor output on my soundboard, each band member has the ability to control their own levels via 4 very smooth solid knobs. Takes either 1/4 or 1/8 inch headphones or inputs - no adapters needed. Volume will make your ears bleed if you have a more than a line-level signal (my case +10db), due to the fact that this will amplify it. Use quality headphones (not ear buds), we rarely have it turned up more than half-way to protect our hearing.
