The USBPhonoPlus v2 is a low-cost USB computer interface for transferring analog and digital audio source—especially from a turntable—to your computer. The USBPhonoPlus v2 adds more convenient pre or post monitor source selection and a variable headphone level control to the already successful low noise RIAA standard A/D interface package.
The USBPhonoPlus v2 is fully compliant with the USB 1.1 specification and uses USB adaptive mode for playback and USB asynchronous mode for audio recording applications. Optical TOSLINK inputs and outputs as well as S/PDIF inputs allow it to act as a convenient digital audio to USB interface as well standard line level analog audio/USB conversion tool. Designed to work with the USB audio device drivers in PC Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP, Mac OS9.1 or greater (with native USB support) or any OS-X based system, it requires no additional drivers.
Housed in a robust black anodized-aluminum case, the USBPhonoPlus v2 audio interface can be powered by either an external power supply or directly from a PC based USB host port for added convenience. The USBPhonoPlus v2 now ships with a CD-ROM of the audio recording utility Audacity.

I purchased the USB Phono Plus as an alternative to a USB turntable that I was not happy with. While I already had a very good analog turntable I bought the USB turntable, unaware that a USB phono preamp existed as an option. Unfortunately the wow & flutter and noise of the USB turntable left much to be desired.Then I bought the USB Phono Plus and connected it up to my analog turntable. I have to say that this device performs excellently. It is very quiet and I find that I don't have to use any noise reducing software to clean up my recordings. It is truly "plug & play" (although you will have to adjust you windows "sounds and audio devices" settings to get back the sound from your default sound card, which is not a problem). The front input gain control and clip light are very useful and help get the best quality recordings possible. There are plenty of connection options and other useful features but this can be read in the product description. Overall I am very happy with this product and would recommend it.
This is an awesome all-in-one device. I was skeptical, but it works VERY well. I've transferred 5 lps already and am quite happy with the results. The device is well constructed and the controls are of high quality. There is plenty of gain to get a good strong signal from your turntable without excessive hum. The manufacturer does not state Windows Vista support, but I have it working with my Vista Basic laptop. Be default, it recorded in mono, but going into the sound settings in control panel allowed me to change this very easily.
