    B-52

A simple solution for superior sound.

The B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System consists of 2 - 12" 2-way speakers, an 18" subwoofer with a 3-channel amplifier, and circuitry housed in a separate compartment on the sub unit's back. A 600W amp drives the subs, and 2 - 300W amps drive the 2-ways. All of the components are matched for the best possible sound and balance with minimal tweaking. All you have to do is connect the B-52 Matrix 2000 system components, plug in the power cord, plug in your mixer or other sound source, and you're ready to go!

The B-52 subwoofer enclosure is divided into 2 separate compartments. The front chamber serves as the cabinet for the cast-frame, 4" voice coil and 18" subwoofer. The rear chamber houses all of the system's electronic circuitry, which includes the amplification for all 3 components, power supply, compressor, and preamps. The B-52 subwoofer has a power handling capability of 600W and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms.

Each 12" 2-way Matrix 2000 speaker is loaded with a B-52 custom-designed 12" woofer and a 1" titanium diaphragm compression driver, mounted to a 90° x 40° constant directivity horn. The speakers can be pole mounted, used as stage monitors, or flown with built-in 3/8"—16 TPI hardware for permanent installations. For transport, they mount onto the subwoofer's front grille.

Transporting the B-52 Matrix system is easy: Move the subwoofer onto its casters and place the included cover over the subwoofer. Next, pull the included covers over the satellite speakers and close the zippers. It is recommended that you transport the subwoofer and satellites separately. You may transport all the components at the same time by placing the satellite speakers onto the subwoofer's front panel facing down. Secure the satellite speakers to the subwoofer with the included locking strap by fastening it to the bar handles on the side of the subwoofer cabinet.

The B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System has a limited lifetime warranty on cabs and compression drivers; 5-year warranty on speakers; 2-year warranty on amplifiers.

Pros: Great sound. Loud thunderous bass. Very clear highs and mids even when played at high levels. Great price.

Pros: Very easy setup. You'll need two speakon cables, and depending on your setup, two XLR to RCA cables, or use an XLR to 1/8" trs and send the channel output using an XLR male to XLR female cable.
    ---
Cons: The subwoofer is heavy and weighs 160lb and unless you're gifted at lifting heavy objects, you'll need a partner to help you load the subwoofer in your truck. You'll need a truck, van or suv to haul this thing, the dimensions of the subwoofer are bigger than what I had imagined.

Cons: I don't know whether it is my speakon or xlr:rca cables, but at low volumes there is an airy hiss. But who would buy this system to play their songs softly?? I think this is a very small problem and there should be no worries: just crank up the noise.
Sound: The system puts out a large sound, it is tremendous and frightening, in a good way. The highs and mids coming from the two satellites are very clear and even as crank up the volume, there is little distortion. As for the lows and the bass, you don't just hear the bass, you FEEL it coming from the sub woofer. The bass is so thunderous, it makes me feel nervous when I can see the house shaking, but at the same time, I get chills listening to my songs because the sound quality is exceptionally clear.
Build Quality: The cabinets of the subwoofer are built from 13-ply birch wood and it feels really sturdy. The grill of the speakers is also made out of heavy duty materials and the four transport wheels are built to last. Nothing about this thing looks weak.

But as with all electrical equipment, it has an Achilles heel: There is a switch that changes the power from 115V to 230V. Be sure that if you are on the 115V setting, you are not plugged into an outlet supplying 230V: you will instantly fry the amps!
For the price you pay for this unit, I think you are getting a good deal. Two high quality satellites, and a very intimidating looking sub, you can't beat this price. Granted, I'm sure there are greater/better sounding setups, but you'll have to shell a lot more for qsc, jbl or bose, which will probably sound no different from the B52.

Side notes: Doesn't come with speakon cables, tripod stands or XLR cables.

I bought my matrix 2000 system in October 2008 it has broken 4 times. The first time was at my very first gig, the sub went out. I took it back and they gave me a new system. The second time it went out the fans quit working and burnt up the amps in it. The third time I had to take it to get worked on side of my top ends was pushing twice as hard as the other...oh and my sub went out again. I took it to get worked on they paid to fix the amp but said I pushed it to hard and broke the sub(BTW I only had my system and amp at 3/4 up). The gig was only about 100 pep so I wasn't pushing it at all. I had it back for two weeks and in the middle of my gig my sub went out again and started smoking. Sound quality is great, but having to take it to get worked on every week is BS. When you spend that kind of money on something, it is suppose to work!!!!!!!!!!

    B-52s bring down the house

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

We have used exclusively the Matrix 2000 since 2007, and we get thunderous bass, thrilling treble, and clean midrange sound regardless of the power level. The 1200-watt amps can deliver a consistent 120dB to large audiences. For large venues, I recommend using two systems on each end with a mono signal. The B-52s simply take a beating and continue to punch!!

Awesome, in more ways than one

    By The Step Daddy

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

I am a mobile DJ, and I've been using these Matrix systems for five years. I own two of the Matrix 2000 and one Matrix 1000. These babies "pump out the sound" week in and week out! The amps and pre-amp boards will go out after some time, but they are pretty inexpensive to replace. By this time, I have re-loaded all of my speakers and used Peavey Black Widows, only adding to their awesome sound and power. It's pretty "massive" when two of the systems are put together. Oh yeah, the subs are extremely heavy, but, I don't care, it's what I want. My "party people" dance all over the top of them every weekend, and, aside for getting a little dirty, or down right muddy (I just hose 'em off), they hold up great! I don't think you can break 'em, 'cause if you could, we would have done it by now!

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

I'm a mobile DJ and I can't begin to say how much I love this Matrix 2000 system. The sound is really good and it has not let me down. It will a year in May that I own the system. I have a done a lot of private parties and everyone is like wow... sweet system. I would recommend this to everyone. I rarely endorse anything, but the Matrix 2000 is the way to go for any mobile DJ.

    B-52 MATRIX 2000

    By Kenpro

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

I bought it about a year ago, while shopping around for a pair of jbl eon 15 g2. I sound checked the eon g2 and thought it to be the best bang for the buck. BUT, that was before I sound checked the matrix 2000. Persons passing by wanted to see what was giving that clean and yet thunderous sound. I took it instantly since it was the only one, I now own 2, yes thats right I ordered another right away and WOW. Since then 4 persons have bought it because they heard mine and wanted to know where I puchased. There is no comparison in my opinion not with any other brand of speaker in the price range that I've seen or heard, NO NOT ONE. JBL I once loved you, BUT B-52 stole my heart.Looking for amazing speakers and do not want to break the bank? Don't hesitate buy it now, you won't regret it. The subs are built like tanks and are heavy, really heavy, but who cares the sound is to die for.B-52 You guys are amazing. I'm a fan for life.

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

I am a mobile DJ and Ibout a matrix 2000 about four years ago after reading the reviews I went to demo one and thought that the system could not be what everyone said it was because of it's size.I tried it and fell in love with the sound. I now have two of them and having been using them for almost four years and they sound as good as the day I bought them. I have used them for all kinds of events including weeding and high school dances. If you buy one you will not be disapointed.

    An Absolute Must Have!!!!

    By Bluemoon-dj.com

    from Stephens City, VA

Comments about B-52 Matrix 2000 Speaker Sound System:

There is not a better system for the money made today. At only half power on the sub and mains and 3/4 power on my mixer, your heart will jump out of your chest. More than enough power for any size wedding, small to medium sized club, and any outdoor party. When you consider the JBL Eons or Mackie v2's are the same price for a pair and you don't get the sub or the head room, how can you even compare them to the B52 system.Only down fall is the weight of the sub. Very difficult for one person to lift. However I do have someone to help with load-in/out so not an issue for me.
