Everything good, nothing bad. For the price I paid I'd need to look long and hard to find a fault, and then it would be some nitpicky thing. If you're in the market for a midi controller that will stay quietly in the background, then do exactly what you want it to do when you need it done this is the one for you.
This has quickly integrated into my 'workflow' --- and I HATE that word --- so much that I can't remember what my composing was like before it! It's easy to use, intelligently motorized and makes what used to be chores downright enjoyable. Also, the 100mm faders make my mixes and fades more precise.
Ever seen one on Craigslist? That's the standard I use for a reliable product...
Motorized faders, smart midi implementation, good (plastic) build quality --- what's not to like? And this has been around in the same form for a LONG time!

Pros: It does what it says it does. It still works after 4 years.Cons: It's some trouble setting up the drivers. The motors are pretty loud, so you might not be able to track acoustic instruments or singing in the same room as this. The faders are not touch sensitive, so if you ever want to rewrite or tweak automation, you have to start from scratch, or do it with your mouse. MAJOR drag, and makes it so I barely ever use it.I'd recommend saving up a little more for something touch sensitive.

Buyer Beware: Faders are NOT Touch Sensitive

By rgames

from Undisclosed

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

My reason for writing this review is to let other potential buys in on a secret that I missed - the faders are motorized but are NOT touch sensitive. Why anyone would build a control surface with non-touch-sensitive motorized faders is a mystery to me; I assumed I could grab a moving fader and adjust the automation. Maybe I'm the only one who didn't think to ask but I doubt it.In short, if you're using the BCF2000 to control your mixer, you can only write fader motion if there's no motion going on. If you record some automation and try to go back and write over it, you won't be able to. You have to first delete the previous automation manually and then re-record it. This lack of touch sensitivity really kills the utility of the unit for this task and it's why the Mackie Control is so much more expensive (it IS touch sensitive).I really don't see the point of having moving faders if I can't grab them to change anything - they mimic the moving faders on the screen but are useless while they're moving.Caveat emptor...

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I just bought my first Bcf2000(WH) and it works great with my Protools LE 8 and Reason 3.0. I think its a good unit for the price. I am looking to get 1 more added to my setup and the Bcr2000 for knobs and other stuff. For the price and the functions it worth it!!!

Great Pro Tools Control Surface

By Sound Wave Warrior

from Canada

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

Easy choice: Play, Stop, FF, Rewind, 8 Pan pots, Mute, Solo, 8 Automated Faders, and Bank Select controls for my Pro Tools setup on a solid looking surface for not very much ... Works well with Mac OS Tiger or Leopard (download Sysex Librarian to upload Behringer's baby HUI sysex to the controller). VU meters would have warranted a 5/5 for 'Features'.

Crazy awesome.

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I normally hate Behringer products, but this thing is golden. It makes mixing so much easier to use a control surface, but if you want motorized faders, you really have to shell out a lot of cash to get that. But not with the BCF2000! This price is insane for what you get.. 8 motorized faders, 8 knobs, 16 buttons, and a load of assignable presets! The only thing that would make this better would be some kind of display for each track to show the name or something. Otherwise, this is quite great!

If you are into mixing, get this.

By Todd-AJfq7

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

After buying one of these and finally getting it working with Cubase SX3, I realized how great of purchase it was. It is not expensive at all considering what it does! It is very solid too. The faders actually work and it saves so much time and trouble. They just slide into place when I load up a song. Its hard to get set up (look up how online because the manual isn't very informative when it comes to setting it up), but this is because there are so many ways you can set it up. It is well worth it!

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I just purchased this product and I honestly love it! I read all the pros and cons from what people had 2 say, but owning is to different stories.Pros: The set-up was fairly easy after downloading the proper drives, I was up and running in pro tools under 6mins. Now when using the product I noticed the 8 tracks that were active and being used were highlighted on the pro tools screen which helped alot when knowing what tracks are what. It also controls every single aspect on pro tools, from the record aim, playback, rewind, fast forward and even control the 'active plugins' on the session from one single click or two.Cons: No LED screens on the board and the motorized faders are little nosey when clicking into place, but not un-barable from what I have heard others say.Overall: This product is very nice! I will eventually buy one more so easier mixing but for now one will surely do the job and for the price you can't beat it! Nothing compares to mixing hands on and seeing your automation come to life.CheersBT

Can't beat this one! Midi & Controls Pro Tools!!

By Brewster Music Project

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

Believe it! It just took me 10 minutes to start mixing with this thing in PRO TOOLS LE 8.0! Yes you should download the latest firmware, updater, usb driver, and manual. Setup peripherals in PT & set this for Baby HUI emulation and just like that moving faders and transport control as well as pan, send, mute, solo, and arm.CONS: Motors are a little loud and I wish it had an LCD to display the track names.

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

Wow, emulates mackies right out of the box! It's also built like it could go to war and back. However a product like this needs more than just firmware, it needs software companies to write updates that support it. Audition currently has a couple issues (pan doesn't work)...and FL Studio (as usual) doesn't support the flying faders. However Reason 3.0 will ship with full support for this product. It also works flawlessly with Cubase, Nuendo, Sonar, Logic, and Protools. An automated controller at this price? Get your head checked out if that doesn't make you pull out your wallet.

Ask me a question

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I don't do much midi. The main reason for my purchase was to have a "motorized digital mixer". My current set up consists of Cubase SX and ProTools M-Powered. I was a lost little child attempting to update the firmware. I also had to wrap my mind around the purpose for emulations. When I finally did, everything became so clear. The Mackie Control function works seamlessly with Cubase, and the baby huI mode works great with ProTools. There are 2 cons I have for the unit. Well, they're really not cons, but may be ideas for future updates. 1. baby huI mode does not allow for the BCF View. In other words, you don't know which tracks are active. I have used my superb counting skills attained in 1st grade to solve this problem. 2. It took me too long to utilize the "Online Support" option. If you buy this unit, that should be the first place you go. It will save you a headache and and a hangover.

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

This is great for the price. I've been using it with Sonar for over 10 years as a bus mixer and sometimes tracks 25-32.
Setup with your software may be tricky and there can be a learning curve learning with which combinations of buttons to press to get to a mode or function. A master fader would be nice as well as a balance rotary knob on each channel.
Once it's setup it's reliable and pretty durable. They used to be cheaper like 199us but at 299us you might be able to get something used that's more specific to your software. It's still a good deal if you need motorized faders on the cheap.

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

It's brand new so I can't speak to the durability but I can say, for the price, this thing is perfect for me. There is NO AUDIO OUTPUT. If you need something with output for monitors, look elsewhere. This is just a mixing desk. I would like to see a version with audio and sound card features. This is perfect for me though. I already have my monitors hooked up to the computer so I didn't need audio capability.

I've been struggling to get my Digi 003 to work with Pro Tools and in frustration, ordered this unit as a substitute and backup. I plugged it in, Windows (don't judge me) automatically downloaded the drivers and everything was good to go. A youtube tutorial showed me how to open it in Baby Hui mode (hold the 5th function key when powering on) and protools recognized it instantly. Compared to the hours of frustration with my old hardware, this was a total breeze.

My only gripe thus far is that the faders are pretty noisy. All motorized faders at the amateur studio level are going to make some noise so I'm not being silly about it, but it is a bit annoying. It would be great if there was a space for board tape so you could mark your faders and function keys. Better if there were programmable led/lcd displays but that's asking a lot.

    I'm definitely happy so far.

The BCF is a very nice, inexpensive control interface for my home studio. I have been using it with Logic Express on my iMac for a few weeks now and it works perfectly.

There are some excellent tutorials on working with this device on YouTube. Definitely watch those, as the manual from Behringer is useless.

However, usin those tutorials, this device is an obvious must-have for any serious home studio.

Use it w/Cubase, works well for $

      By jmcdaniel_ee

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I use this with cubase LE and it works well. It took me a while to set up because the drivers on the website are for SE and are slightly different (requires program modification). This thing is a super value for the money. I've owned it for over a year and it hasn't given me any problems. I would reccommend this if you're like me and wanted a control surface without wanting to spend the money on something super expensive. It works exactly like it says it does.

I thought the first BCF2000 was great. wait till you add a second unit!! I can't believe you can get a controller to run Pro Tools for this price. And Behringer has added more downloadable features for editing. I was skeptical at first but I'm sold now. I've been using the first unit I bought for about 6 months now & I've done a lot of sessions in my home studio. Thanks to Behringer for a great product & thanks to this site for a great buy!

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

It does what it says it does and it does it well. It doesn't take up too much space on your desk. Buy two! I did! You can link them, at least you can in Sonar to control 16 tracks. Even buying 2 is far less than a mackie control, though you don't get the jog wheel (I wouldn't really use it anyway, I've used the mackie control pretty frequently and I personally haven't had the need to touch it). A lot of people knock down Behringer products....I get frustrated with these attitudes mainly because I'm frustrated by ignorance and iliteracy. If you read the instructions on this, or any Behringer product that I've used and owned for that matter, they do work and work very well for a significantly lower cost that the alternatives. If you don't have money to burn or would rather spend your money on more important things like quality instruments, pre's, etc. Give Behringer's gear a chance, and get your reading glasses ready.....

      BCF2000 rocks for Pro Tools

      By Adrock-sFpdn

      from Philadelphia, PA

Comments about Behringer BCF2000 B-Control Fader:

I got this to emulate the Baby HUI... out of the box the firmware was 1.03, I had to upgrade to 1.06 -- the upgrade was EASY and PAINLESS. Once you set it to Baby HUI emulation mode and set up Pro-Tools... holy S. This thing does everything it's supposed to do. It makes mixing 100x easier, anything you'd want to access is at your fingertips. The motorized faders are awesome! Everything feels super-solid -- don't listen to people that say "Behringer gear is cheap!" It's not cheap, it's inexpensive -- I have two V-Amps, their FCB1010 foot controller... all of their gear has been made solid and sturdy, I would drop my Behringer gear on the floor and still expect it to work.My only complaints are that the motorized faders are a little noisy, and by a little I mean "if you have your speakers turned off and there's no other background noise, you might hear a slight mechanical whine." The other thing I didn't like is that there aren't any pre-fabbed templates to slide on top of the unit for controls. There are places to write on the hardware, but I'd rather just throw a template overtop and be done with it.At this price, you aren't going to find another MIDI control surface that has motorized faders. You can't go wrong with this thing, honestly.
