Build Quality: The Behringer B215A polypropylene injection-molded enclosures are exceptionally rigid, fairly light-weight (51lbs) and very well designed. Basically a trapezoidal design that can be pole mounted or laid on the side (30 degree angle) as a monitor. The advantage of the of injection-molded process is that they can tune/port/shape the cabinet in ways never possible with traditional wood/cabinet construction. The payoff is some surprisingly deep bass from such a small cabinet. Nice built in handles allow to easily carry with one hand. I pulled off the back panel which is essentially the integrated power amp/controls to take a look around inside. The beefy 15? speaker is a stamped frame design with fairly large magnet. I could not tell the voice-coil size but guessing somewhere around 2.5?. It had a large sticker had the Behringer logo with a ?600 Watt? rating on it. I couldn?t quite see the HF driver but it is attached directly to the horn that is integrated in the overall cabinet. The power section features a small toroid power supply and with the rest of the electronics enclosed. There is no active cooling (ie: fan) and it is a very tight fit.Sound Quality: Overall these speakers perform great for their size and price. The bass is exceptionally punchy and high are well balanced. The high frequency projection however is a little on the short side ? things start to drop off pretty quick. The bass however punches through hard especially considering how small the cabinets actually are. Behringer claims the speakers are ?Processor Controlled?. My guess is an active crossover unit, maybe some sort time delay/correction between the speakers and a limiter. You can hear the limiter kicking in under hard loads (it takes a lot however). The speakers are better suited to prerecorded music than live. They just seem to muddy up under the dynamics of live music. Still they are great speakers for the price. Functionality: The are compact, somewhat lightweight (51lbs) and very portable. They are designed to mount on pole stands and can lay on either side as monitors. The control panel has a XLR & ? Inputs, XLR output, Power Button, and Volume/Tone knobs. The Volume, Bass and Treble knobs are small but work well. When used as monitors, accessing the volume/tone knobs and power button is difficult. Also the ? the connection cables (XLR or ?) extend out nearly touch the ground when used as a monitor. It wouldn?t take much for the monitor to rock back and break/bend these connections. Also ? Behringer rates the speakers as 400 Watts (320 LF + 80 HF). This is very misleading as it is a ?Peak Power Rating? (not a very valid rating). According to the owners manual ? they are actually only rated at 250 RMS Watts (200 LF + 50 HF). Strengths: Great Sounds, Great Portability, Great Value! Weakness: Limited Cooling ? Since they are very compact and there is no cooling fan they are very prone to overheat if pushed to limits for a long time. Used as monitors ? control knobs are difficult to access and cables stick out the back to the point where they could break or be bent. Overstated Power Rating ? they are actually rated 250 RMS Watts ? not 400 ?Peak? Watts.

I used these speakers for about a year as mains for the three live bands I work in to make my bread and butter, plugged into a Mackie CFX20 board. the sound was not bad. you couldnt turn them past half power without them hissing, but I thought I got a good deal....until 7-24-07. Even though I have them hooked to a power conditioner, during the middle of my 1st set, they started cutting out. and then died compleatly. I changed the fuses, but they are still dead. I will never buy a Behringer product again. I believe in musicians friend and all of the great products they offer. I hope they stop carrying Behringer all together, because these line of products are beneath them.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I am a DJ, I bought two of these speakers a few months ago because I was looking for a low priced powered speakers because I didn't have too many gigs yet. I read the reviews on the b212A, and it encouraged me to purchase the B215A because I thought it would give more power. I did a 150 person party the day after I purchased them, in a 450 person dining hall. It had just about enough power. The sound was very clear and precise. Guests were actually complimenting on the quality of the sound. I have only used these speakers about 4 times. I don't how they will be in the long run, but so far I love them. I do act very gently with them just because I am afraid that they are fragile because they're Behringer. But so far so good. Definetely worth the price.

Impressed!

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I debated a long time over these, wanting something more expensive, but lacking the money. I decided to take a chance at having to pay return shipping if I didn't like them. I have been, and still am TOTALLY impressed with the power and quality of sound from these. I used to run sound professionally with an all Renkus-Heinz system, trust me, I know good sound from mediocre or bad. So I figured I had 45 days to test these out and return them if unhappy. I played bass heavy mp3?s (not crystal clean CDs) of old dance and hip hop stuff, and like Ace of Base through these with the bass EQ up on the mp3, AND the mixer AND the speaker, played at 120db or more. These B215A?s played them with incredible power, clean powerful bass, and didn?t bat an eye. I have paired mine with 2 samson DB1500a active 1000watt subs, and a Behringer UB2442FX-PRO mixer. This board is equally impressive (the fx, are just okay). If you?re trying to put a system together, BUY THESE! You won?t be disappointed.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

This worked exactly how I expected it to. You can connect an sm58 to it directly without even any EQing and it sounds great! The only thing I would suggest is that if you plan on using it as a stage monitor, get some angled cables. Regular cables get pressed on by the floor because of the angle.

Great sound fir the money

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I bought this speaker back in Feb 09. I needed a standard stage monitor, and also a way to amp my Roland V kit on stage. For both, it works out great. I get nice thump out of the 15" speaker, and the horn does great for the cymbals. Vocals are crisp and clear as well. The only problem I have is that it weighs a freaking ton, but that's to be expected. I say buy one with confidence.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

We used a small powered mixer for practices and it blew a couple of weeks ago. I had a mixer laying around, and picked up a B250A to fix to problem for cheap... A few hundred bucks later we're practicing again with plenty of volume. We're using it at about 1/2 volume and the vocals come out clearly. Not much low end on these speakers, but for the money and the versatility of a powered speaker (monitors without the need of an amp? NIICE!), you can't beat it.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

After making the decision to pull the trigger on these babies, it has been one of the best live sound decisions I have ever made. The clarity of sound at high volumes, and the versatility the 215a's provide are unparalleled. I highly recommend these speakers to anyone starting out or the experienced vet. Bottom line, these things freaking rock!

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I am like most of the other musician's, price played the biggest part of me buying these speakers. I played on the mackies and after comparing the cost went with the Behringer's on a trail basis. Well after the first show using them to supplement our system outdoors, myself and the rest of the band loved them. I use them as floor monitors inside and they are awesome. For the cost give them a try. We gigged them hard all summer in the heat and they were flawless!

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

My band needed some speakers for our practice space, and on a budget too.We knew the cost on these was low, and were well aware of Behringer's reputation, but after all the great reviews picked these up. We use them strictly for vocals, synth, samples and bass drum right now, and these are amazing. If you're on a budget, and you need good speakers for vocals, this is your buy. Do it.

Great Sounding Speaker that don't break your back

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I purchased these the day before a large show outside. Up until this point I was using a nice set of JBL front of house speakers with 4 - 15? subs and I decided to simplify my setup and start the transition to POWERED speakers. I LOVED THEM. They have a TON of overhead even outside. Highs were clean and the LARGE 15? woofer built in (That is rated for 600w) was great also. I was running from a Mackie 8 bus console to a Compressor and then a dual 15 eq then to the speakers. Triggered Live Drums, Bass, Piano, Electric Lead, percussionist and 2 vocalists was the setup for that day and setup was easy. I would suggest using a subwoofer with these if you are a bass hungry engineer and want chest pounding thump or else you will be using the 1 year unconditional warranty to get a replacement speaker. These speakers are not made cheap. When you grab them you can tell that they are well constructed and at 51lbs ea they are not too hard to setup by yourself. My eq settings were different from the JBL speakers but all in all they did not change too much. If you want to start in on the powered speaker revolution?go for it?start with these

Great Sound-Great Price

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

Semi-Pro Cover band.. We needed good solid PA for outside performance's. I bought 2 of the B215A's. We run guitar, vacals and toms through these. We have 2 bass bins (NADY 18's) which we run the kick and bass guitar through, as these B215A's wont delivery low freq. bass. The B215A's deliver extremely good tonal quality, as well as strong volume ability. I was worried about the plastic construction of the cabinets (vibrations and rattling), no worries there. Just make sure if you mic a kit do not run the kick through these, use a cab more suited for low freq. A+ setup, so glad Behringer is around.

Great Sound, Amazing Price

By Crosley

from San Francisco, CA

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

Based on price (and comments you may have read about other Behringer products), you might be skeptical that this speaker could be any good. But I decided to give it a chance based on the large number of positive reviews of its 12" woofer sibling (b212a).I am pleasantly surprised by this bargain of a speaker -- it provides plenty of clean, LOUD sound with nice, deep bass. The molded plastic cabinet may be slightly less rigid than more expensive powered speakers, but this thing causes my walls to shake well before I hear any objectionable resonance from the cabinet. Definitely a keeper -- am adding another one shortly!Nice features like both XLR and balanced 1/4" inputs, "link output" for daisy chaining multiple units, stackability and a decent mic pre-amp built in add up to tremendous value. Now, for the live sound professional, this unit *might* not be sturdy enough for the extreme abuse (not that it's in any way fragile in my experience) that such speakers can take. But for the occasional gigging musician, semi-permanent install or even "one-off" performance it's hard to go wrong with this one, particularly when you factor in price.I don't have enough experience with this speaker to gauge its reliability, but it's been great so far. BTW, the free shipping had this to me in just a couple of days. Terrific service as always.

Well Worth It

By K-Money Fiasco

from Spring Lake, MI

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

Our 4-piece band was in the market for a new PA setup. We've had experience with the Mackie SRM450s and we loved the sound they had. However, they were just way out of our price range. I started to research up on powered speakers and found these little bad boys. I've used a lot of Behringer gear over the years and I have nothing but love for this company. Quality gear at an extremely reasonable price. After viewing the spec sheet from Behringer I went ahead and ordered 4 of these and I am so impressed with these. Well worth what they sell for. I'm not really sure how Behringer gets away offering them so reasonable. The are nearly identical to the SRM450's. The only diffence is these have a 15" woofer and cost about 2/3 less. The bass punch is nice...not anything like a subwoofer of course, but will easily handle a kick drum mic if you can't afford one or don't have the space for a sub. The highs and mid come across sweet. We've had nothing but compliments sense we've started using this PA. We play mid-size bars around the area. The only bad thing I can say about them,(and the reason they don't get a 10), is the control knobs and signal inputs stick out a little when used as a monitor. The shape of these speakers sit nicely as monitors, but if pressure is applied,(ie. a guitarists foot), they will rock a little and possibly damage the knobs or your cables. I made a little bracket though and it has alleviated the problem. All in all though,if you are looking for powered speakers be sure to give these a thorough look, I strongly recommend these.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

I bought the B215A because I wanted a kickin' monitor for a specific application. I run a 4-10 bass rig and when we play certain venues, I have a tough time hearing it until I have it up too loud for everybody else. I was considering putting a 1 - 15 under it and then I decided to try the B215A placed in front of me as a monitor. I works great!! The 15" handles the lows very pleasingly and I've even come up with a way to run my vocal through it as well. Gigged with it Friday night. Our lead guitarist (not a Behringer fan) mentioned several times how clear and in-your-face the B215A sounded (He uses a Mackie powered monitor). Thus far, I am VERY satisfied!

These are the best powered speakers I have found for the money. I bought a set for my practice space at home...then bought a second set for our drummers house. If EQ'd properly, these things can sound amazing. My only complaint...I am not a weightlifter...and these things are heavy.

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

Just got a pair of these last week. The Behringer speakers are crisper, clearer and provide a good amount of power. I bought them figuring at worst they could be an excellent monitor but they now we are seriously considering buying another pair along with a good active sub to complete a very good and affordable sound system. Oh, and they weigh nothing! The S115V's I mentioned are about 15 pounds heavier (just a guestimation) and they are passive! Thank you Behringer, really...you made an affordable active speaker that rivals Mackie and JBL at less than half the price. Buy these!

Comments about Behringer EUROLIVE B215A Active Loudspeaker:

This speaker is the best I've used! I own a pair of these and they are so amazing. If you're a DJ or club owner or if you are in a band, these speakers are excellent because if you play the music loud, they will not get distorted. They have a really good, high quality TITANIUM driver. They also have very good bass. They have 1/4" and XLR inputs plus an XLR output which can be used to daisy chain several speakers. Even though the Mackie speakers and JBL speakers are high quality, you would be paying hundreds more on those when you can get these, the Behringer B215A speakers that have the same quality and are a lot less money! So I encourage you to buy this amazing product!
