An improved power-to-weight ratio thanks to Class D technology.

Like its fellow EUROLIVE D Series loudspeakers, the EUROLIVE B215D PA speaker system features Behringer's special Class D amplifier technology and internal switch-mode power supply to provide a much better power-to-weight ratio than other active speakers. To put it simply, you get all the power without the backbreaking weight.

The high-efficiency design of the Behringer EUROLIVE B215D speaker system cranks out 550 of the cleanest, punchiest audio watts you've ever heard from a compact PA system. The integrated sound processor provides total system control, along with dependable protection of the LF and HF transducers, thanks to the built-in active high-pass filter, which virtually eliminate distortion—even at extreme operating levels. In addition, it features an ultralow-noise mic/line input with LEVEL control and a dedicated 2-band EQ (bass/treble) for easy control.

Intelligent by design
One of the coolest things about active loudspeakers is the lack of backbreaking racks of amps, crossovers, and EQs that are often required to make passive speaker systems sound almost as good. But that comes with a trade-off&mdash:;that extra weight is transferred to the loudspeaker, making it difficult for a single user to heave all that mass onto the top of a speaker stand.

Behringer's EUROLIVE D Series' "Intelligent Design" merges the best features of active loudspeakers with significantly lower weight by using switch-mode power supplies and Class D amplifier topology. Hidden deep inside the enclosure is the equivalent of an active two-way electronic crossover, graphic EQ, parametric EQ, mic preamp, limiter, and two Class D power amplifiers, yet the overall weight is less than a comparable loudspeaker system. These components work together seamlessly to provide optimum sound quality—and it all takes place automatically, without you having to touch a single knob.

Class D Amplifier Technology delivers high power with low weight
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class A/B circuits, Class D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces the power losses in the output devices. This is easy in theory and complex in practice, which is why there are so many different Class D designs. Without boring you with terms like PWM Generation and Gate Drivers, let's just say that to realize the benefits of a Class D design requires compensating for a lot of potential problems that can cause audible distortion. Behringer didn't invent Class D technology, but their R&D department has been working for years to perfect their own version with all the benefits of reduced weight and cool running, yet without the drawbacks. That's why they invested over a solid year of research time eliminating pitfalls like quantizing errors and excess dead time, selecting just the right switching frequency (and other equally tech-y terms). It's also why they spent an equally long time testing individual components to ensure they will stand up to the rigors of the real world.

When combined with switching-mode power supplies that replace heavy toroid transformers, these new designs provide more dynamic punch since the higher switching frequency reloads the supply's capacitors much faster. And because they are so much more efficient, the D Series loudspeakers run cooler and don't require huge and heavy heat sinks. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up. Behringer's no-compromise design means your EUROLIVE B215D active PA speaker will deliver full power and incredible fidelity all night long, with no need for rest cycles.

Instant PA system
With just a single EUROLIVE B215D speaker system and a microphone or MP3 player, you can set up an instant sound system. Thanks to the built-in preamp section, you just connect a dynamic mic and raise and lower the volume with the Level control. Plug in your sound source, place the speaker on a tabletop or stand, and power up. It's just that easy. And if you need more coverage, simply use the convenient LINK OUTPUT XLR connector to add more active loudspeakers.

Stereo music system
You can use two EUROLIVE B215D enclosures for stereo playback of your MP3, CD, or old-school cassette deck without any additional hardware. Just plug the appropriate stereo breakout adapter into your deck's output jack and run the cables to the 1/4" inputs on each PA speaker. Set the Level and EQ controls the same on both enclosures, and you've got an instant party.

Marvelous monitoring
Thanks to their trapezoidal design, the D Series cabinets can be laid on their sides providing the ideal angle for onstage monitor wedge applications. Hookup is simple too, requiring only a single XLR or 1/4" cable from the monitor send on your mixing console and of course, power. Additional monitors can be chained together via the XLR LINK OUTPUT jack on the rear panel.

Custom-designed transducers
The transducers (woofers and tweeters) are the only part of a sound system you actually hear, so BEHRINGER didn't cut any corners. They custom-design and build their transducers from scratch. Not only do they wind their own voice coils, they process the paper pulp into cones and even machine their own back plates. This enables BEHRINGER to control the quality and make better components, like the long-excursion LF transducers and state-of-the-art 1.35" compression drivers deployed in each EUROLIVE D Series enclosure.

Low-frequency response
The Behringer EUROLIVE D Series speakers were built with extended low-frequency handling in mind. With a tuned port, internally braced, injection-molded enclosure, each model's custom-designed LF transducer (woofer) really cranks out tight low end.

Accurate non-fatiguing midrange and treble
Even if your particular application doesn't include booming bass, you'll love the sheer accuracy of the EUROLIVE B215D. Over a year of design went into a exponential horn/aluminum dome compression driver combination that could do justice to loud hard rock or dance music—yet could also satisfy audiophiles with its musical timbre and attention to detail. For spoken word, singing, or acoustical instruments, the B215D PA speaker and every D Series speakers are able to articulate complex harmonic details.

Processor controlled output
Dynamic processing is one of the best ways to maximize output without sacrificing sound quality. The EUROLIVE B215D's built-in circuitry automatically adjusts program content, allowing the loudspeaker to operate at extreme levels. It accomplishes this by reducing bass output slightly as you approach the limit of the transducers. This frees up LF amp and transducer resources, so that higher overall volume can be realized. It's like having a tiny soundman inside each cabinet constantly monitoring and changing output parameters. By making subtle changes to the crossover frequency and the audio content, the system is able to crank out more sound&mdashwithout the slightest hint of distortion.

Massive power-to-size ratio
Cutting-edge technology and high-fidelity speakers are not all it takes to get your message across&mdashyou need power, and lots of it. At the heart of each EUROLIVE B215D speaker are two high-current amplifiers with a total output of 550 watts. They're capable of driving the speakers to their maximum with no distortion—and without speaker damage, thanks to active internal protection circuits. Simply put, this PA speaker system will astound you with its massive punch, smooth mids, and articulate top end.

Great set of powered speakers! Makes my 12 string ovation sound really good. Was having trouble not getting enough lows but no more. These speakers are remarkable..I've used them at gigs inside and recently outside. I've even used only one as a main and one as a monitor at a dinner gig..

made using my boss loop pedal easy..

Easy to carry and set up. Love the trapazoid shape..I don't want to play through anything else ever..So glad I didn't go for the BOSE..had a chance to finally use one and it did not have the punch I have with behringers..I waited to leave my review untill I used the speakers in live settings. I recommend these for anyone..

Features:

Clearly, the best bang for the buck speaker on the market......Undoubtedly, the most efficient...... lightweight......powerful.......clean sounding workhorses we have ever owned as a 30+ year live music and DJ service business. These baby's might even make subs obsolete as by using a few of them.... the "rumble" bass can be truly achieved without huge monster cabinets or by using the very costly premier alternatives out there...........They..... by far....outclass the earlier model type A amps for almost all live settings, weigh much less and don't heat up after long shows or cut out like their predecessors sometimes might. Best of all...... no more back pain after gigs!!!!

Quality:

After months and months of regular use-----no problems!!  Indoors, outdoors, any season............... for crowds large and small..........Really Dependabe!!!!

Value:

A less than $300 investment gets you a (complete small) PA---just add a high output mic and cable and a speaker stand....amazing!!!

Overall:

These should be in everybody's gear for at least some applications. It took this company a while to gain our complete trust........THEY HAVE IT NOW!!!!!!  It is true that we are pretty careful with our gear...........................If you treat the B215D's nice .............they should last a long, long, time........

Love the EQ settings and volume settings on the back.

Sound is GREAT from these!  I had originally planned on going with the 12 inch version of these   speakers put was afraid they wouldn't push enough sound for larger   venues. I shouldn't have worried, I haven't even pushed the pair I have   over the half way point INCLUDING when I play in school gyms. I will be   adding another set soon. They make my DJ / Karaoke show more compact  and  managable for one person to handle for smaller settings also. Great   product, very happy with Behringer once again.

DO NOT BE FOOLED.... By Brand Reputation Or Price....TRUST YOUR EARS!

Features:

These speakers have all the features needed needed in a powered cab.  Controls are solid, frequency response is good, cabs are solid - nothing "cheap" feeling.  Screw to tighten on to stands is excellent feature.  Power is clean, cabs are quiet (ALL powered cabs will hum at times, much less now with D Class) and they do not over-heat.  Volume to weight ratio is downright SICK to those of us who started out hauling Bull Frogs..... Reviewers with feedback problems are probably just misplacing mics, over cranking the gain on the speaker or the board, or don't have proper monitors and are needing to hear themselves through the mains. These cabs don't feedback any more or less than others in this class. To help reduce feedback and get the best vocal response, set the bass on the speaker to about 60% and treble to 70% - then CUT MIDS at least 15% on mixer.

Quality:

They seem to be very well constructed and durable.  The controls are solid and do what they're supposed to do.  The cabinet is strong, solid and the design is good, they're easy to carry, mount on stands and I think they look great.

Value:

Hands down the best speaker value in the industry

A GREAT COLLECTIVE COMPARISON - REVIEW:

I never cared for any brand of powered cabs much.  They seemed to all be noisy, heavy and prone to feedback. However I needed a monitor for a specific use and bought a Mackie Thump 15.  It's ok, but nothing I would want as mains.  Recently I began running a weekly Singer/Songwriter Musician/Band "Showcase."  Once a month the shows are recorded - audio & video.  Because of recording, we didn't want the noise issue of a powered mixer needed so powered speakers became a necessity.  Went to buy Mackie SR's or QSC's, decided on QSC but I had time to spare & for the heck of it we A / B referenced QSC's & the Behringer.....WOW..was I glad I did.  It was obvious the Behringers would serve our purpose and save money (it's a charitable event we run).  They only had 1 in stock, so for 3 shows we had the Mackie Thump on the Right and the Behringer on the Left.

Every performer, sound tech or anyone with ears that counted preferred the Behringer to the Thump.  No contest - even die hard Mackie fan's admitted that the signal was brighter, cleaner and warmer from the Behringer.  The majority of these performers are seasoned pro's, including myself.  I've been performing, producing and event organizing for over 25 years and I wouldn't consider running a show through a poor sounding system.

I bought these a couple months ago to start DJ'ing with as starter speakers and i've been so impressed I might just add the powered subs and stick with these! I DJ at small bars and clubs so I don't how they would hold up in larger venues but for small events these are more than enough sound for you! They also make very good PA's, as I've used them to jam with some friends.
