Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
We use this system for walking tours around our historic community for groups of 25-50 people. The volume and clarity is good. Biggest drawback is the battery which dies after a couple of uses and recharges. It's very hard to find a replacement since it's an odd-sized battery. I just found a replacement battery at batteryspec.com. Made by tempest battery - its part # TR2.6-12B.

Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
While the PA system is terrific, eventually the rechargable battery will no longer hold a substantial charge and must be replaced. I have been waiting for three months now for the batteries to "clear customs." The lack of product support should be a detriment to anyone considering this product.

Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
I love mine. We use the Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System when my band performs at the Council of Aging and nursing homes and small parties. We use the one mic for whoever is singing since the instrument sound carries good and the voices are hard to hear. The mic that comes with it, mounted on a mic stand, picks up good and sometimes two or three will sing in it together. I mounted my pa head on a mic stand with a round base and use a 20 foot xlr mic cord to make it easier to use. I normally set the PA head to one side behind us so the players and singers can hear it to. Just don't put in front of mic. I have plenty of volume. I did put a piece of foam inside rear door so it won't rattle.
I bought my first EPA40 over three years ago and this is my 2nd one. The first one still works with AC adapter but spring contact broke off that connects the battery. Probably from hauling around in my van on dirt roads.
We use a full PA set up whem playing for larger functions and outdoors.

Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
We use mine in nursing homes, small jams, Council of Aging, etc where we need to amplify the voice but instruments are loud enough. It works great in jams where singers who sing to low can be heard over the instruments. Volune is only controled by the gain and is not super loud but makes voice carry and is loud enough for my uses. I place it behind the circle aimed at the center where everyone can hear it. Just don't put mic in front of it or you get feedback. Only works good with mic provided with it.. I use a 25 ft cord to extend the mobility of the mic in the circle. At the nursing home we sing as a band but each one moves in front of mic when it is their turn to sing. I use two mic stands, one for the mic and put head of pa on mic stand for conveince. Have owned over two years and my only problem has been with battery connector and mic cord 1/4 male plug. Had to resolder. Also rear door rattled and I placed form cushion behind it. Works good in 40X60 rooms. A friend wants to buy mine and I am thinking of buying a new one. Volunteered to play and sing on Sam's train out of Cordell, GA and worked great on it for the voice.
Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
We use this handheld in Central America and Mexico to preadh the gospel to groups of 25 - 500 people. While 500 does stretch their effectiveness they are very powerfuld and clear for their size. We work in remote areas so weight and size are important and of all the similar units we have tested these funcion far above the others for the price. The mic cable does separate easily but works better if you resolder before using
Comments about Behringer Europort EPA40 Handheld PA System:
I'm a mobile DJ who has been looking for a light-weight, pro quality sounding, battery powered PA system for occasions when I need to provide music and microphones far away from electrical outlets such as on a beach, in the woods, etc., for wedding ceremonies and the like. I realize the EPA40 is primarily designed for tour guides, teachers, etc., and in that regards, it seems perfect, very light and loud. It has even improved people paying attention to me. Just strap it on and walk around in your day job and people will start paying attention to what you have to say - no soapbox needed anymore! As far as using it for musical purposes, it does provide decent background music (in mono but you need a stereo to mono plug) and is pretty loud but of course has little in the way of true bass. It would be nice if the 1/8" input summed stereo plugs to mono but it doesn't, thus you have to do it with an adapter or change your laptop to mono output. The only other problem is that the back door, made of plastic, rattles a lot. They should have given this a rubber gasket - but I just take it off and no more rattle. If only this had more bass, it would probably be perfect (I realize bass eats battery life and adds weight). Another musical drawback is that there is no volume control on the line input of the EPA40 (except for the microphone). All volume control for the line input is from your laptop, Ipod, etc. I suppose I can get another adapter to plug my laptop into the microphone input and get volume control that way. Overall, not bad at all for the price. I elected to get the 3 year coverage for only $25 more and I was assured this would cover the ultimate demise of the battery. I'm sure the battery will ultimately stop taking charges well within 3 years (all of my clell phone and laptop batteries poop out after 6 months) and it's replacement alone is probably over $25.
