The Behringer EUROPOWER PMP1680S Powered Mixer (2 x 800W stereo, 1600W bridged mode) produces even more power than its predecessors while maintaining famously low weight and high efficiency. The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer employs Class-D technology including a switch-mode power supply, significantly reducing weight and heat. The 10-Channel Behringer PMP1680S boasts 8 high-quality built-in mic preamps, 24-bit FX processors, and FBQ Feedback Detection.
What is Class-D Technology?
Instead of operating relatively continuously like Class AB circuits, Class-D amps switch on and off thousands of times per second, delivering power only when needed. In other words, the amplifier is either fully on or fully off, which significantly reduces power losses from the output devices given off as heat. Less heat means the amps don't need massive heat sinks, and that makes them lighter. This no-compromise design means the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer will deliver full power with incredible fidelity all night long, without the need for lengthy rest cycles.
When used in conjunction with switching-mode power supplies, which don't require huge and heavy transformers, Behringer's Class-D amplifiers provide tremendous dynamic punch and superior fidelity. The resulting speaker systems are much lighter, making them easy to transport and set up.
Massive Mono or Stunning Stereo
EUROPOWER PMP1680S gives you the choice of 2 x 800-Watt stereo, 2 x 800-Watt dual mono mode (giving you a mono version of the main signal through one powered output plus a mono version of all monitor send signals through the second powered input) or 1,600-Watt bridged mono sound. Whether the center of attention happens to be a folk trio, a speech, or a synth-rock band with mind-boggling stereo patches, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixers can accommodate. This sonic versatility also makes it an excellent choice for churches, where vocals and stereo recordings often share face time.
Classic Control, State-of-the-Art Sound
Leave the mic preamps at home, because the quality of sound that was once only available in the studio is ready to go wherever you do. Built-in, boutique-caliber mic preamps with switchable +48 V phantom power make it possible to use either dynamic or condenser mics with the EUROPOWER PMP1680S. It gives you 8 mic inputs.
Built-in Digital Effects Processor
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S comes equipped with a 24-bit FX processor, giving you 100 mind-blowing digital effect presets such as delay, chorus, and reverb. Apply them to any channel, as well as to the monitors and main output. In case you're pulling double duty as sound engineer and performer, the FX processor features a footswitch jack for remote on/off. Of course, if you have treasured outboard gear you've grown attached to, the EUROPOWER PMP1680S can integrate them into the mix while leaving out the built-in FX processor.
Changing the Channels
The EUROPOWER PMP1680S mixer has excellent flexibility to accommodate whatever a performance requires. You get 8 channels for mics, guitars, and other mono instruments. Stereo channels 7-10 are designed to work in pairs as stereo channels, or independently for more mono instruments. All mono channels have 3-band EQ, switchable Low cut filter for eliminating infrasonics, and Clip LEDs to indicate when the input signal is too hot.
A STANDBY switch mutes all mic channels during breaks, preventing the microphones from picking up noise or interference. You can leave all faders untouched while you play a CD via the CD/TAPE inputs.
The FBQ Feedback Detection system automatically shows you which frequencies are causing feedback. Just touch the FBQ button and watch the red LEDs on the 7-band graphic EQ pinpoint show you which frequencies to adjust for optimized sound, without the feedback.
The Ins and Outs
Use the CD/TAPE IN RCA inputs to feed in external stereo signals from CD players or tape decks. The VOICE CANCELLER switch eliminates the vocals from pre-recorded music for instant karaoke applications.
CD/TAPE OUT RCA outputs send line-level signals from the mixer to a recording device. The left and right output 1/4" connectors can be used for a variety of purposes, including connecting more power amps. Connect monitor power amps or active monitor speakers to the MON SOUND output. Powered outputs on this mixer are available in professional Speakon-compatible format.

I have owned this PA head for a little while now, and the quality was great when it arrived and is still nice as I have used it. I am actually kind of shocked at the quality of these mixer, as I always thought Behringer wasn't the best choice for gear. However after purchasing a set of PA speakers and this powered mixer, I have to say I am pretty impressed! This powered mixer can handle anything I throw at it, be it in the studio or at the open mic I host, and occasional gigs. I originally purchased one of the top brand mixers, and sent it back and bought this mixer. Very happy I did as it is a great mixer for the money!

It has many features and could be a useful VERY small venue pa.
I found that almost everything in this head was mediocre.
The value depends on your needs and experience. It certainly is not very expensive but it just didn't sound that good.

Very musical. It is so light, it's hard to imagine that it puts out the performance it does. Had our first gig with the 1680s last night, had about 300 people in a medium sized hall. It was powering 4 15" Carvins and did a great job.

I bought one from MF, its lightweight, powerful, sounds great. The speaker switch adds bottom end to any speaker system lacking lows, much like a loudness switch.
The monitor knob is very close to the same colour as the EQ knobs and its placed right under the bass EQ knob, which is pretty lame. We're talking similar shades of blue that look the same in low light, it causes you to count down from the top knob when adjusting the monitor levels. They should have made the monitor knob a different colour,
Not a total drain as there's a few colours to play with. I switched the orange FX knobs with the monitor knobs, easier to see the monitor knobs, although of course you wouldn't want to do this if its going to be a rental unit b/c you can't switch the master knobs to match.
The only other drawback I've found is at the gig if you're small time and running on the venues undedicated mains power like one 15 amp circuit, this unit is going to challenge the available amps, as it draws 1050 watts! This might be a concern in certain situations where the band doesn't get a dedicated circuit or two to themselves.
Separate FX for ea channel is nice. Im not sure why some company hasn't figured out to put a (dimmable☺) light into the top of the box on these bread box style heads, even a small black light with fluorescent tipped knobs, something to help the visual in low light, which is probably where 90% of these units operate.
Still haven't used the voice eliminator function to see if that works in theory- eliminating the vocals from CD's, for karaoke etc.

We just did my first life show with this unit last night. Our set up and breakdown time was cut way down with this simple unit with 2 switchable effects banks. I used a Boss FS-6 to controll the 2 effects. Worked great. Plenty of power. We put vocals, 2 guitars and a midi sequencer through it. We had the individual channels set at 3 and the main set about the same, and it was plenty loud for the 20' x 30' room that we were in. Very happy with this unit! Warm sound, no feedback, plenty of power, 2 switchable effects, it has it all.

For the money this sytem will supply you with all that you would need to run any band or DJ show.
All I have to say is that this board sounds fantastic when using the 12 inch top end speakers. All you have to add some bottom speakers and this system is really to goand we were just using the tops.
