I've had this board for 7 years - never failed once. Its primary use has been a daily radio broadcast I produce for my church. I record directly to the KorgD888, which is notorious for terrible pre-amps on the XLR inputs (the worst -_-). I needed a preamp for the D888, so I purchased this board as a dual channel +48V pre-amp (full pan to left or right) and for portability. Lots of headroom, and very quiet! I read a review about noise - definitely not my experience. I also take this little board to every set up where I'm running sound - the size is perfect in a small sound room, and easy to carry. Sturdy build - Takes a beating!! My board's power connector is a tight fit, so I don't run into the loose connection problem others seem to have. The board gets hot, but not so hot that I've ever needed to shut down.
2 negatives - 1) a power button would be ideal (but not a deal breaker)
2) static can build up on the level knobs (sounds like scratching when bringing volume up or down across a specific level). Easy fix - Drop the main volume (so you don't blow up your system) and turn the problem level knob(s) all the way down and up - clears up the issue nicely.

I had the previous version of this (MK-602A) for nearly 20 years. Finally, the connection between the external AC adapter and the unit became unreliable, which is why I bought this unit as a replacement.

It works well and is pretty clean. The only trouble is that the output gain isn't as hot as the prior unit.

I keep buying Beringer stuff because it is inexpensive. I have another Beringer mixer I bought for a completely different purpose as a replacement for a similar model. I think next time I will spend a little more and get something better.

It's an ok mixer

By Austin Stephens

from Chicago, IL

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

Buy this mixer if you have never mixed before it could be a great starter, but if you have an ear for mixing go with something built more for high-quality and higher price range. Also try out some mixers before you buy one on the internet because it had a low-price.
For the price there are many inputs and there are eq's and effects," but my only concern is the loud hum that the mixer does have. It is designed to be ""low-Noise"" but its pretty loud", also the main outs are pretty crappy meaning I have to twist the input jacks sometimes because the signal falters often and twisting the jacks keys the signal back in, maybe the inputs are loose.
The build of the mixer is solid, looks like it could take a beating, but for what's its worth my unit only sits at home. The power chord is a bit weak with a three prong set-up and can be hard to plug in without picking up the mixer looking on the back to plug it in. Once the mixer is plugged in, I am pretty sure the hum of this mixer will be instantly heard.

for a little more you could find some other brand that would probably out perform this tiny mixer, but for the price, you get what you pay for.
It has worked thus far, but in the future I will upgrade to a more expensive model, after buying much more expensive equipment. It would be a shame if their sweet sounds get drowned out in the mix because of humming. This is why it's important to upgrade, you can't drive around a Benz on a spare-donut tire forever.

Finally, this is a great mixer if you are beginning, if you are an audiophile or producer I'm sure you would already know there are better analog and digital options available. Albeit, they may be more expensive, but in the end you get what you pay for.

nice compact mixer, great on location

By Dave

from Orange County, CA

Pros

  • Compact
  • Plenty Of Gain

Cons

  • Bit Noisey At High Gain
  • No power switch
  • Odd Power Supply
  • Xlr Jack Orientation

Best Uses

  • Video Shoot

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

This is a nice compact mixer, great for on location video work. It offers lots of features, such as tone control so you can try to get things sounding good from the start. It has plenty of gain, enough to use an unbalanced mic with transformer adapter.

Some issues and concerns I have are:

*The XLR connectors are oriented wrong for right angle connectors, causes the cable to lay on top of the controls. They should know better than that.

*Would have been nice to have un-balanced mic inputs as well.

*Main volume slider is a bit too easy to move, some resistance would be nice to prevent accidental operation.

*The power supply has 3 output voltages, which in odd. A simple power supply would have been nice so that you could potentially use it battery powered. This would have also made for a simpler connector that I would not have to worry about having it rotated correctly to insert.

*A power switch would be a big plus as it would cut down on the plugging and unplugging of the power supply from the unit.

*The cooling vent is on the bottom, where it is easily blocked if you set it down just anywhere. Vents in the back would be less prone to being blocked.

    Great!

    By ExperimentFailed

    from Niles, MI

    Pros

    • Build Quality
    • Clean Sound
    • price
    • Very compact

    Cons

    • Flimsy Power Connector
    • No power switch
    • Only One Fx Bus

    Best Uses

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

No noise that I can hear. Preamps are strong, clear, fairly transparent (any color they add is not undesirable, at least), and provide plenty of gain. Mixer has "enough" routing flexibility, tho could always use another fx bus, despite being small form factor.

The thing feels combat ready - very solid construction with no "slop" in the knobs (though I do prefer more tactile resistance than they provide) or connectors. I like that most knobs have center notches - gives a good point of reference in low light conditions.

Headphone amp is very good. My AKG K240 headphones sound way more crisp and get much louder now, compared to my previous audio interface.

It does get warm, but I have not had it get hot... Perhaps some people are pushing them a little too hard? I don't know, but the heat is minimal and thus no concern to me. Power switch? Would be nice, but meh...use a strip.

All in all, I do not see why Behringer gets so much flack around forums, and such, as being cheap junk - this is a very solid product for any level of experience/budget, in my opinion. Maybe this is the only good thing they ever made?

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

First, I'm not gonna trash Behringer, I own a lot of their equipment and it all goes above and beyond. I got this unit 10 days ago and used it for three shows and it worked fine. I'm running a Karaoke feed through it to a QSC 1450 so all should be cool. During the show I could feel this mixer getting "Hot" and not long afterword the right side went out. I had to get a back-up board off the truck (a Behringer) and finish. Maybe I got a bad one but it let me down just the same and I'm returning it ASAP

      Great little mixer, but --

      By Alex-thMNq

      from Corpus Christi, TX

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

The power supply is the worst. The prongs in the power connector are the flimsiest I've seen. After two years of wear and tear at some pretty vicious shows they finally gave way -- and it will cost $50 to replace. The mixer is built extremely well, minimal hum and great preamps. Effects on the mic channels are great and the gain can be cranked for some sick distortion. My mixer is still alive but the power supply didn't make it.That's really the only thing you have to worry about if your mixer is going to go through hell and back. Careful with the power supply!

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

Lets face it, if you are buying this mixer, you are buying it because of the value, and a value it is. I wish it had XLR outs for the mains instead of 1/4 inch, but thats not a big deal. The light being bright is not a big deal. The lack of an on/off switch is not a big deal. My main complaint is that the port where it plugs in is AWEFUL. It doesnt actually plug in to the unit, it sort of sits in place. I will have to do something about it. Yes, it also gets hot, but the manual said it would. The phantom power is nice, and again, the value is the reason to buy it. For an entry level portable mixer, this is perfect. For the price, this is not a huge risk

Comments about Behringer Eurorack UB1202 Mixer:

Purchased this small mixer for a Church Christmas Party to play soft music and have mics available for the Pastor during the event. Easy to set up and easy to operate. Very compact, so it needs a little space (our amp was 4 times the size of the mixer). The mixer is so easy to operate, they could have forgotten the users manual in it and anyone could could still know how to operate it.

Like it's little brother, the 802, this little board performs. I use it for rehearsals and small events through powered speakers. Also handy for adding channels to our Primary P.A. via piggyback when we have additional instruments/vocals in the mix. Only complaint - no on/off switch so you must unplug every time. I find these boards to be handy and dependable.
