OVERVIEW

A versatile 2-way stereo speaker system for home studio of personal monitoring.

The BEHRINGER MS16 is a compact 2-way stereo speaker system for home studio or multimedia applications and instrument or vocal monitoring.

2 high-power amplifiers drive the 4'' woofers and the high-resolution tweeters. The front-mounted volume control and individual bass and treble controls make accurate sound adjustments a breeze.

2 stereo line inputs (RCA and 1/8'' TRS) allow simultaneous use of 2 stereo sources, so you can play back CDs, MDs or MP3s and use an electric guitar/keyboard at the same time. In addition, the 1/4'' TRS microphone input lets you mix vocals with a stereo track.

Magnetic shielding and compact size make these speakers perfect for placement near video monitors or computer displays.

FEATURES
  • Compact stereo speaker system ideally suited for home studios, multimedia applications, keyboard and vocal monitoring etc.
  • Powerful 4" woofers and high-resolution tweeters powered by 2 - 8 watt amplifiers
  • Dedicated volume, bass and treble controls for more flexibility
  • Stereo RCA inputs for soundcards, keyboards etc. that can be used simultaneously with second stereo source (e.g. CD/MD player) through 1/8" TRS stereo input
  • Separately adjustable 1/4" TRS microphone input mixable with stereo inputs for playback and vocal monitoring applications
  • 1/8" TRS headphone connector with auto-mute loudspeaker function

I can't see why people were complaining there was no bass response when I first set them up I had them on my coffee table and a cup of water on a coaster, the bass was so loud and just on an apple loop that it was vibrating the water. If you can EQ it yourself (granted it takes a while) then you should be fine. This is a great start to a studio and you won't be dissapointed. Don't use it one time like these people have and say oh it has no sound or bass, because I turned the volume up rolled the bass about 5 and the trebles from 5-8 and it sounded just like the models were supposed to so I can't complain, hope it helps, it's a good price point for a good quality piece of studio equipment.
It has everything you need, i was even surprised when it came with the cables to hook it up to my Macbook. I figured I would have to spend more money to get the right cables, so I was greatly appreciative. I wanted a good set of speakers to record and monitor through Logic Pro becuase the labtop speakers were just not very good at all. Get both stereo speakers, two mixed inputs (say computer and Ipod) and it has dedicated EQ and volume on the unit which is a plus.
They are friggin heavy!! Way more than I expected, German's have always made good speakers and these are no exception, big heavy magnets and a great build quality, no complaints so far.
Awesome, all I needed was a little more punch to monitor my bass response on the songs I'm working on and make sure the EQ was right where I wanted it to be. I was surprised when it inspired me to do even more and I was able to tweak the EQ to exactly where I wanted it, so to me it did everything I asked it to and more, it gets loud, really loud and the cool thing is if your playing say the drums and bass as a loop, then they come more out of the right speaker and the mids (guitar) that I'm playing comes out fo the left. Everything is clear and easy to hear it's perfect, I can't imagine any more expensive one doing more.

I can't remember leaving a bad review on MF but these speakers are not happening. Been giving them a go for 4 weeks now. Just did an exchange for the Alesis Elevate 3's.

First of all these things are not shielded very well. Even know I figured I was really just getting nice computer speakers, I had to move the digital clock away from them (getting a digital motor boat sound in the amp) and then I noticed they had to be a certain angle to the Acer 22inch monitor or I got digital noise.

The main reason I got these: they have tone controls on the front and since they were going to be on one of my computers that double as quick recording and internet surfing, I wanted to be able to dial in tones at different websites without going in to the computer. My other computer is a recording workhorse with Alesis 520 speakers.

But apart from the digital noise problem, they sound like so so computer speakers. Nothing is out of phase, all controls flat and still, Yuk!! I don't think they should even be in the monitor section really of MF, for example how serious are these speakers? If you look at the picture the two holes at the top...one is the tweeter and the other is a bass port I guess. The thing is the tweeter is on the left in both monitors...Doesn't sound like they were going after anything symmetrical as far the sound field is concerned.

Through with the rant...I know monitors are like guitars and microphones, everyone ear is subjective. And if these work for you, my hat's off to you. As far as people complaining about bass response...I didn't turn them above 12:00 to check that, I was afraid they would explode.... :)

Not For Me.

Comments about MS16 Active Personal Monitor System:

I was disappointed. The units were toy like. My logitech computer speakers are far superior. I expected better from this brand. But Fender makes that little 1 watt mini amp too so maybe this is a trend. Musician's Friend customer service was first class and handled the return professionally. They get an extra star for that. Great company.

Comments about Behringer MS16 Active Personal Monitor System:

I bought my second pair of these last year not because the first ones had died but because I got tired of moving them room to room. They are nice sounding until you ask them to put out too much bass then they break up and sound horrible. Also they really don't like being run at top volume. I wasn't too aware of their limitations until I hooked them up to my mixer and a synth. Then I tried them with another keyboard straight and believe it or not the speakers in the keyboard sounded better. Still paired with an iPod they make a good portable way to listen while you work.

These appear to be the same as a set of Roland Speakers that I bought 15 years ago. They died recently and when I saw these they had everything the same except for the name on the speakers and the color. They sound just like my old Roland speakers which means they are perfect.

Sounds fairly good; not the best but it's clear and usually precise. On-speaker adjustments for freqs are convienent for switching between recording listening and leisure listening.

Very versatile little monitors and a very good value as well. I replaced a set of Roland M-8s which were virtually identical to these which I used for 16 years. I have found this type of product to be very useful in recording, practice, and even performance in smaller, quieter venues.

Comments about Behringer MS16 Active Personal Monitor System:

Very good value. For their size: strong bass, clean highs, balanced mid-range. If using with a computer you have to know how to adjust your computer settings to "external speakers" to get the correct sound. I have no complaints and would buy these again for my uses: boosting my computer's sound, mixing a high-quality amateur album, listening to my mp3 player. There is some background hiss from the power source, but I don't notice it once the music plays.

Before purchasing i read the reviews and noticed a few bad comments concerning bass response.I mainly record Reggae, dub and ska. I am not having a problem with bass and those are bass heavy genres. They are clear and tight sounding ,weather i am using bass guitar or synth generated bass sounds ,these speakers can handle it!!
For the cost versus quality, i would endorse these as a great addition to any home studio setup.
