OVERVIEW

(Open Box) Sonic excellence and a full complement of mixing and sound modification tools.

The SX3242FX EURODESK mixer is designed to meet the needs of studio and live mixing applications, with a comprehensive set of features that combine sonic excellence and a full complement of mixing & sound modification tools.

This 4-bus audio mixer features ultralow noise, high-headroom XENYX microphone preamps. Mono input channels feature three-band, semi-parametric mid-range EQ with Neo-classic "British" response. Behringer 's stereo input channels provide precise four-band equalization. Each input has four aux sends with two sends switchable between pre/post fader, for a flexible mix of monitor and effects applications.

The EURODESK's external signal processing racks can be largely eliminated, thanks to the two integrated effects processors and stereo 9-band graphic EQ. One-hundred 24-bit / 96kHz studio-quality effects presets can be called-up and assigned to one or both internal effects buses. Main or Monitor output EQ is set and fine-tuned with the intuitive FBQ Feedback Detection display.

When external processing is required, the SX3242FX provides extensive insert patch-points for input channels and main outputs. The Master section offers a wealth of features such as multiple aux and stereo returns, switchable SIP / PFL monitoring, Talkback, metering and more.

The mixer's internal auto-ranging power supply (100 240V), gold-plated XLR output connectors and rugged steel construction ensure that this console will travel anywhere to tackle any recording or mixing task with professional audio quality.

Bought this mixer as an upgrade from an all-in-one powered mixer the band was using before. We needed more XLR inputs and this board gives us 24 channels of XLR. Zero defects out of the box and gigging fine for over 6 months. I like the one button mute for the break music input. Fade out the break music, toogle the mute button, and the live levels are right back exactly before break. High marks are given in consideration of zero defects out the box, meeting and exceeding my expectations in almost all respects, and the solid performance over 6+ months of use. Drawbacks: We use the two pre-fader monitor outputs, before we only had one. But 4 monitor outputs would even be better. Also, I want to stress that the EQ is for either the mains OR the monitors. My old all-in-one unit had separate EQ for both the mains AND the monitors. Since almost all feedback occurs on the monitors, set the EQ for monitor mode and just work the channel EQ's for the mains, or get an external multiband EQ unit for serious tweaking. Hasn't been a problem for us, but I did like separate EQ for both the mains and monitors. So I marked the unit down on the features just a bit. Considering the price you pay for this board compared to other 32 channel mixers, those are relatively small complaints. For a cover band gigging a couple weekends a month, this fit our budget. I am very pleased with both the price and solid performance of this board.

Not sure I can recommend this product. I have a call into Behringer as we speak.

1. Both sound efx processors failed after using about 5 times. I had to open the board, pull the two processors off the motherboard, clean them and put them back. It's been fine since. It's been over a year.
2. Aux 1 send now feeds back and is unusable. I run XLR into TRS to feed from snake. This failed at a gig as the room was hot and had to use AUX 2. Trouble is the FBQ doesn't talk to AUX 2. I struggled with the monitors all night.

I also owned at 12" powered monitor that quit after 2 usages. The transformer went.

The local service guy I used terminated his contract with Behringer as they were to difficult to work with. Now, what do I do? Pay for shipping. I went all in with this company as I couldn't help but be swayed by price. Hmmmm.....

Great Mixer Board

By James-JGecI

from Fort Polk, LA

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

at any given time, our webcasting group would have anywhere from six to ten people on the air along with musican equipment. before buying this board, we used a 12 channel mixer board and had to switch out body packs to get the next person on the air. now that we have a larger mixer board, we do not run into that problem anymore. We purchased a power amp to use for our in-house speakers, and this mixer board works great with or without that amp. Well worth the money

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

I have been with MF for 8 years now. This board works really Great. The built in FX is a pleasure to have. Less rack space to fill. Makes for shorter setup time, which gives me more time with the bands I work with. I have approx 19k watts in power and it handles it with respect.

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

If you buy this board, make sure you get the Musicians Friend extended coverage. I didn't and I spent months fighting with Behringer when the board died on a gig. They finally replaced it, but many of the same problems are now appearing...flat spots in the pots, overheating in the power supply area. Now the warranty has run out and I am stuck with a lemon. I carry my old, used Mackie as a spare, just in case. Definitely not worth the listed suggested retail...worth about that Musicians Friend is offering it for at the moment.

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

This mixer is zero defect and gets daily useage in my studio. I have only gigged with it once, but it was just fine. Pound for pound, there is nothing even close. The sound quality is crystal clear, the controls are firm and smoothe. A couple more pre-fader sends would be nice for the extra picky crowd, but I could care less about that. The current trend to "more me in my personal mix" doesn't really float my boat . If it's that important go axiom...and run it off the inserts with proper cablesI am happy with mine, and so is my audience and band-mates, and wallet.

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

I purchased one of these for my church and in less than two years of use one of the special effect channes is non-functional; the on-board eq switch is damaged; we have been experiencing intermitent signal output loss in the main fader (reflected in a lower left channel)(this we have worked through using tuner lubricant spray every two weeks). We have continued to use it but we are afraid it will continue to break down. We are replacing it. We have had the same type of experience with other Behringer equipment. They are a good value but they malfunction soon after we atart using them (compressor / limiter; direct boxes). May not continue to buy Behringer.

    Pretty Good Mixer

    By JW-LoAKP

    from Missouri

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

Nice mixer with more features than most live applications need, subs work well, nice selection of aux and eff choices, even a mono send for subs. Can be ran without external EQ but not recommended. Digital effects are very comparable to dedicated rack mount units. Had one channel quit working, so it's good that I have 32. If you use it outside clean it immediately, especially the sliders, seems more sensitive to dirt and dust than other brands, but overall pretty good.

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

I bought this mixer for my band because I'm a die hard behringer fan. We originally had the europower pmp2000 but we couldn't fit everything in one mixer so we bought this. The thing is great especially when you have subwoofers and need an output directly for that. The only thing is that it only has 1 eq so you have to choose between main and aux so I would just get an external equalizer.

      Comments about SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

Have been working with it in the practice and recording room. So far like it a ton. Can't wait top use it out on live shows. Tons of inputs, 4 subgroups, dedicated sub woofer out, goods effects processing. Can handle small to medium sized bands easily (currently have drums (7 Mics), 3 guitars, 1 Bass, 1 Acoustic, I Keyboard, and 4 vocals with 3 guest vocals are all no problem. Has two different monitor mixes (wish it had 4), but still much better than I had prior. So far I grade it A, hope it holds up for years to come.

Both sound effect processors failed and created uncontrollable noise. I had to take it apart, pull out the two sound boards, clean the connectors then replace it. Once done, it's been fine since. Surprise I didn't find anything on the internet about this problem. I gave it three stars as I only did a few gigs and rehearsals within a few months and experienced this. The board was not gig-worthy until I fixed it.

        Nearly perfect...nearly

        from Kansas City, MO

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

Let me begin by saying this: Any mixer you will buy at a budget driven by a hobby-level musician's needs has comprimoses from the get-go. You will have to decide what your needs are as you shop. This mixer is limited to two legitimate pre-fader sends. This may be a limitation for you. For me, it is not. My needs were..at least 20 xlr inputs with mic pre-amps, a subwoofer output with adjustable low pass filter, and at least two subgroups. For me, the extra two subgroups and xlrs make a third and fourth monitor send possible. For most groups, three will be more than you need. Remember, you need an amp channel for each monitor send too. Budget-minded bands will find this board, or even the 2442 version adequate beyond their needs in many cases. For me, the added bonus of two effect generators makes my strat sream like my son's SG. The subwoofer out gives me lpf adjustable control and my 31 band eq gives me hpf the same way for my mains. This is all the crossover I need and cleaned my sound up in a truly amazing and very audible way.The cd break switch mutes everything else with one button...very nice...talkback is very cool as well. It's true, only 2 auxiliary sends pre-fader seems like a cut..but my band was using one before I got this board. Two seems like a luxury to us and three is something we have yet to do. It's a simple patch from insert to line in on unused channels.Okay...quality. The board is sturdy, the rotary and slide faders are firm and smooth. The switches all feel the same. There is no cheesy feel to anything. None of the horror stories about doa or cheap feel are true here. This board is zero defect to me. The eq has instant, predictable control on every channel. The 9 band eq is predictabley vague, but somewhat usable. The channel effects are all different, not so close you can't tell the difference. Thew guitar simulations introduce the same exact kind of noise and string nuances they would in a guitar amp...very cool. Just like having a guitar amp with effects in it. The dual foot pedal that came with my guitar amp switches the effects channels on and off as advertized, with no delay. Everything works fine...the board has been used daily since i bought it and left on for a few days at a time. It's a quiet, capable board. I love it. Glad I bought it. Two days overtime was a very worthwhile sacrifice for this experiment.

Comments about Behringer SX3242FX Eurodesk Mixer:

There are 24 mono mic inputs, not 20. Do not dismiss this mixer for having less than 24, as I almost did for use with an Alesis 24 track. I intend to buy this in a few days, and this typo appears in other retailer's catalogs. See the factory pages and get a m PDF manual to confirm for yourself. I did, and am glad of it.

Be careful when purchasing used gear! I was told this mixer was tested and that it functioned properly and it did not, I had to return it and purchase a brand new one witch was late and sent to my door step in its original box where every one can see exactly what was inside and sitting on my porch, glad it wasn't stolen! There was a hole in the top of the box and you can see that it was obviously dropped but hey it still works ok so hopefully it continues to work.
