Pros: Tube preamp, parametric equalizer, low price. Cons: The tube is extremely difficult to change (it requires 50% disassembly of the unit). Comments: After searching for months, I discovered and purchased this preamp to be used with a home audio system.  If you know your audio, tube equipment of any kind is priced in the stratosphere but this is one of the audio bargains of our time. As for changing the tube, the inexperienced will not be able to accomplish the task.  Behringer should have anticipated that some tube rolling would be done and made it easier to do so (it's amazing they're able to assemble the unit like this to begin with).  In the future (I'm talking to you behringer), please put the tube where it can easily be changed.  The three LED's don't serve any useful purpose and nobody's going to sit there staring at the tube (yeah, I disconnected them). Note to tube rollers:  Before changing the tube, build yourself a socket extender (about 7" should do)and remount the tube under the top case for easy future access.  If you're handy fabricating metal, a hole in the top case with a mesh screen to let the heat out (it's not very much) would be an excellent upgrade.

Excellent unit for the money, Yeah I know if you spend a ton of money more you can get an art pre (I own one) but for a hundred bucks this unit is woth every penny. Some people claim the 12ax7 tube is just there for show-Thats garbage-they are expecting a fair low priced unit to react like a 5 or 6 hundred dollar one. I use this as one channel for my main microphone and the other channel for my bass and it works perfectly. Forget the people who say behringer stuff is junk, if your on a budget and need to get the best quality for the least money, go with this. I use this in a home apartment studio environment and itd just fine

I bought this preamp as a temporary solution for vocals until my Art Pro Channel get repaired. It is simple to use, but the noise to signal ratio is horrible. When I paused while recording vocal noise level in Pro Tools meter bridge on the track was higher than normal. I couldn't hear it in my recordings, but I don't like any form of noise whether hums, click, or pops. I had to do so much editing on my vocal track that it was ridiculous. Need less to say I haven't recorded anything else since. I plan to get a vocal processor by TC Helicon that has built in mic pre with phantom power. I will use it instead.
