Great little mixer. I use it in my home studio to get all the drum mics mixed and EQ'd when recording them into my Lambda interface. The only thing it is really missing for my uses would be maybe a channel mute switch on each channel so it would be easy to get the volumes on each drum mic set correctly without having input from the ones I wish I could mute.

It also has no on/off switch. Another thing Berhringer could have easily added.

Certainly Road Worthy

Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

I've had the older version of this same mixer (UB-1202) for a few years now and it's been nothing but a joy.I discovered last weekend after a Christmas party gig that this thing is certainly road worthy, after someone spilled a large glass of eggnog all over the thing during pack-up. It was in the jacks, in the slider, and oozing out the vents on the bottom. I figured what damage was done was done so I flushed the thing out with water in a sink. When I got home, I figured I'd see if it still worked just for kicks. Much to my surprise, the whole thing still works! Every slider and knob is just as good as before. I highly recommend this mixer, the only thing I wish it had was a proper effects return.

    Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

As an Amateur Radio operator, the Xenyx 1202 is an important part of my ham radio station. When used with the Heil Pro-40 microphone, the 1202 delivers excellent audio quality during on the air operation or to computer recording software. I also use the 1202 for mixing and recording my own personal MP3 files. The only thing I wish the 1202 had and that is a cut switch for each microphone input. This would eliminate having to readjust each mic input with its own level control. Using the cut off switch on the mic itself causes unwanted mic noise so a cut switch on each of the mixer mic inputs would be a huge benefit. I believe the 1202 (and other Behringer mixers) would be much easier to use for some if the mixer had a built-in bail stand that would flip down on the bottom at the rear of the unit to tilt the mixer at more of an angle for easier viewing of the controls. I constructed my own stand and it made a big difference for me.

    Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

We use this as a sub mixer for the drums. Being the drummer of a band, I feel it's important to have the ability to tweak the controls myself rather then the sound tech. He may not want to hear this but understands my needs. This great little mixer conforms exactly to my needs. I would highly recommend this little unit for a drummer who has mic'd their drums and would like to keep the controls in your hands instead of the sound tech. Our sound tech probably doesn't like to hear this but understands our needs.

      Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

This is a great tool. I have had two. The first was great, but I bent the power supply trying to insert it a little too roughly I suppose in the wrong position. It is marked with a microscopic arrow that is the same color as the cord so it is invisible to most people at arms length. It turns out that it is not cost effective to buy a new supply (40 bucks), but a new board, so I did. It should be shaped so it can go in only one way and those pins are so thin...Aside from that, as many have said, the light is too freaking bright. In low light(like on stage)it makes it hard to see the controls. There should be an On/Off switch. These are little complaints since the board is so inexpensive and works so well compared to stuff 3X as much or more. I still like this product. I am now keeping this one in the practice space and getting the 1204 with effects for the live gigs to have a little more monitor control and of course, built in effects.

      Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

I purchased this mixer and was hoping to use it with the Behringer rca-usb u-control. It works like a charm. Almost no noise from the pre-amps, and a really nice British EQ. I would recommend that you spend the extra 20 bucks and get the Xenyx 1202FX to get all of those effects, but if you don't need FX, then this is the way to go.

      Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

Our 3-piece group plays small venues in Japan, most with their own mixers. No more juggling for space on the snake when one output from this handles all the instruments and mics I use. Our percussionist uses one for is drum mics. We can adjust on our own without trying to tell a "sound engineer" what we're looking for.
On the down side, as previously mention, the power supply pins break easily when not aligned properly on insertion. Mark the cable and mixer with a white paint pen because trying to plug it in under low light without a visible index or a flashlight sucks. I solved my broken pin problem by inserting a very short length of paper clip wire into the hole so that it contacted properly and it seems to be working okay. The PSU is very hard to locate.
This mixer also works nicely with my Yamaha power mixer when a house PA is not available with me and the percussionist taking up only two channels. Beats the heck out of carting around a giant board like some of my friends in other bands. You won't regret buying this at all.

        Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

I got this mixer in for a little recording studio I'm making in an extra bedroom. Works great in every way. All the preamps work, the EQ is okay. Im wishing I would have waited and bought a bigger board with FX. Since I'm a drummer, 4 mic inputs arn't enough, but I bought the CAD pro-4 drum mic set along with this and a FCA202 interface. All works and makes clear, great sounding recordings.

        Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

That's all you'll hear when there's no activity going on around any mics or inputs. This thing is pretty much dead silent at a normal level and trim. I was rather amazed as well.I was contemplating whether to buy this online or buy it in the music store. They were the same price, so I just bought it on the spot of the music store and opt against waiting roughly a week for it to arrive. I was eager to test out my Nady GM100 condenser microphone as the previous minimixer I bought did not have phantom power (even though the description said it did). Either way, the mic is crystal clear. My Behringer XM8500 dynamic mic sounds very much like a condenser mic now with a focused range.Perfect for home studio use (too small for professional studios). It is also an ideal mixer for smaller gigs and live shows that don't have a lot of room to spare for a nice soundboard. All the knobs are smooth and of good quality. Input/output jacks are also solid and secure. The unit as a whole is generally soundly made. The plastic on the side was kind of cheap though, but that's a minimal issue..for now. It's quite aesthetically pleasing with it's dark shades of gray accented by white and chrome. The Xenyx line by Behringer looks promising as one of the best mixing units ever to hit the recording/live sound market.Buy one for any of your sound mixing needs (of course according to the correct size that you may need).

        Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

I run an indie record label out of my room and only use Xenyx mixers in my set up. I love the sound of there EQs and preamps. they have an extremely adequate headroom and are practically noiseless. sometimes if it wasn't for the lights I would forget I left my system on.the first good thing is they are cheap. When I went looking for cheap good equipment, Behringer attracted me. With such a ridiculous low price, I had to give it a shot. I was very pleased to find that cost doesn't really effect quality.Another great thing about these mixers is they sound amazing. You have an insane amount of headroom, these things can help you get ridiculously loud. The way I have my setup I can only have my PA up to 3 or 4 to do shows. That is with a 100w head and 2 10" speaker cabs. Pretty crazy huh?my favorite thing about these mixers is when you don't want noise, thats what you get. nothing. not even a bit of hum or hiss. its just straight ... and thats it.Over all these mixers have ample headroom and great sound for any type of budget or project, so give them a shot

I wanted to start recording some stuff about a year ago, but had no recording gear. I saw this mixer and bought it almost straight away! The eq is the best I've used and there is very little noise. I plug the fx send out into my behringer v-amp 2 to use as an enhancer/reverb machine and bring the stereo outputs of the v-amp back into the mix, and it sounds great! I recommend this mixer to anyone who wants to start recording.

        Comments about Behringer Xenyx 1202:

This is the fourth little Behringer I've bought -- the second for me, the other two for a church and school where I consult on sound. It's still a great value, but there are some glitches this time around. As another reviewer noted, the power connector doesn't seem to seat securely. And my unit has a slightly bent or warped frame, so it doesn't sit flat. Also, the power LED is insanely bright. It has plenty of oomph with a piece of electrical tape over it. Otherwise, this mixer has all the features and solid feel (for the size) you expect from Behringer.
