      .
This is an inexpensive mixer that does a good job. The controls all work well and the layout is easy to decipher and deal with on a continuing basis. The quality of the product is surprisingly good considering the selling price. The circuit board is a little on the thin side but is made of reasonably strong material and the parts are well soldered (by machine). The cabinet is steel and is again well laid out with the controls not too close together allowing easy access.

There are a couple of points that should be considered before purchasing the unit. Do not subject the mixer to severe shocks or place pressure on the knobs as they are not supported by the chassis but rather the circuit board which could crack under undue pressure. Better designed mixers place a shoulder at the bottom of the knobs which contact the metal chassis and thus do not put excess pressure on the board. This however, will only come into play if excessive force is put on the knobs.

The purchaser will notice the absense of an on-off switch which is a bother as the only way to
shut off the machine is to unplug the unit. This should be accomplished by removing the plug from the wall (mains) not by unplugging the connecter at the back of the machine. The connector used is not made to be continuously handled in this manner. Because of the design of the circuitry, which in corporates a center tapped AC transformer, the usual DC wall rat plug is not used but rather a cheap three prong plug which is not suited to continuous use. Including an on off switch would eliminate this problem as would the use of a better plug assembly.

Other than these two points this unit does a good job off providing good sound, equalization and flexability at a very affordable price.

I bought the Behringer Xenyx 802 to use as the mixer for a podcast. I was looking for something inexpensive that would have decent quality - I wasn't expecting pro quality for the price, but something usuable. I was very dissapointed in the 802. I spent 4 days playing with it, trying to get the settings tweaked so that I could have a reasonable level of sound coming out with little or no hum and buzz. The only way I was able to achieve this was by turning the gain on the mic preamp down as far as possible, keeping the mic level set relatively low, and carefully tweaking the mix level - and I'd still get a constant hum in the background. I tried recording into a laptop and into a battery powered audio recorder and the hum was still there. I was eventually able to get a tolerable sound out of it, but at the expense of losing all the presence from the mic. Ultimately it ended up sounding little different from the built-in mic on my laptop! If you need a way bring in several inputs, and you have the time to tweak the settings constantly - and you have no real budget - this might be an acceptable solution. Otherwise look at something a little higher on the scale. Maybe I gt a bad example, but I really don't see how the Behringer gets the ratings it does.

Comments about Behringer XENYX 802 Mixer:

I was looking for a very small mixer to monitor all of my key rig and a send from the monitor board. The main thing for me was size, but the price definitely played a factor in me buying this little dude. Ultimately, I really didn't enjoy it.

There wasn't a ton of routing flexibility, and get this: the chassis design has a defect. None of these will sit flat on a table (I checked three of them).

In the end, I returned it and bought the Mackie 802-VLZ3. Here's a tip, BUY THAT ONE! I couldn't be happier with that little Mackie. Dump the Behringer.

This is a good little mixer for small events. I use it to dj small weddings and dances, and it works good for plugging my computer into the system and plugging in a mic. I've had another of these mixers for a little over a year now, and I'm noticing one of the knobs is starting to short out. Overall, it is a pretty good unit though.

Comments about Behringer XENYX 802 Mixer:

This is great i would pay more than i did for this, and every thing is simple, but packed with nice features and is well built great buy and perfect for a DJ
For the size and price it has every thing except effects. the fantom is great and they did a great job filling this mixer with as many features as possible.
Every thing feels great! usually buttons, even on more expensive mixers are to thin and may pop off if twisted right. these buttons are great and the inputs are sturdy as well.
                  Great quality, futures and price!

                  Horrible Audio Quality

Comments about Behringer XENYX 802 Mixer:

This mixer is a complete waste of cash: There is a very loud fuzz that is cleary heard in recordings, and the preamps are absolutely horrid. The EQ works fine I suppose, but you just can't get past that static. I have tried many different cables and mics without a change in quality. A friend also has purchased one recently, and it had the exact same problem. The LED meter is unhelpful, part of the unit is made with cheap plastic (the mixer has been known to melt/catch fire), and it's wobbly.
                  Just stay away from this.

                  By Dan Yee

                  from Califrornia

Comments about Behringer XENYX 802 Mixer:

The product would have been easier to transport if it had everything in one unit, because of
the transformer I have accidentally left it on the power strip during tear down and luckily
the other band members saw it and asked that anyone is missing a transformer.
Since I've only owned this mixer for abour three years and probably used it a dozen times it should have broken so soon. VERY UNRELIABLE...
unreliable features, needs to be redesign in the engineering department, so the unit can be
                  reliable.
right channel overheated and completely lost the right channel during a DJ job.

channel two has alot of hiss sound and it has gotten worst and that was without an input.

channel one is alot quieter, but still noisy.
I don't recommend this product to anyone, unless they plan to throw money out the window.
