What a great mic! I also own a Baby Bottle by Blue, which prompted me to take a chance on the Encore. Love the look, but also love the way it sounds. I purchased the 100 and have been using it for about a year for live performance. Our band has a full complement of SM58's, like most folks. The Blue gives my vocals a more rounded bottom end, and at the same time,a more lively overall sound than the SM58's. It has a very open top end and is quite smooth, but detailed. It performs very well live and have had no problems with feedback or other anomalies. I have let others use it, when doing sound for small gigs, and everyone liked the way it made them sound. It is offered at a great price point and competes easily with the SM58, if you are looking for a more lively articulate sound. I generally leave it on a stand, so cannot comment on handling noise. The construction is very sturdy. Its built like an old Buick, but looks like a Corvette. It has a truly been a joy using it and based on experience over a year, I'm considering adding an Encore 300 in the future.

OK, let me first say I own a blueberry and use it in the studio and I SWEAR by that mic...which is why I bought one of these, it let me down HARD...it is insanely quiet...HALF as loud (volume not noise) as the Sennheiser 835 I normally use...I though the mic was broken so I sent it back and the second one had the same issue, I also a/b-ed it with EV's Shure and others... It is a clear sounding mic, but if you are using it as a live mic in any kind loud rock music situation you are not going to get the volume out of this you need before the low end bump mentioned in a previous review starts to feed back in a really annoying and unmusical way, that if you manage to EQ out makes the mic sound really hollow...probably works great for recording, we'll seeUn-Happy, and sad

Comments about Blue enCORE 100 Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
I was tempted to only give this four stars but ultimately decided on 5 because the price and sound quality. Very nicely ballanced sound. A real step up from an SM58 for the exact same price. The carying bag is a bit of a joke. Durable enough but hard to get the mic in and out of. Really, we couldn't spring for a zipper or some velcro? The holder came with a loose pivot screw and the mic fell out first time out of the gate and hit my foot. That's when I knew I had a heavy hitter. Dang, that hurt. But it also pointed out another potential flaw. Don't you DARE try and put this thing in the holder at anything less than 90%, because the clip holds it loosely. On the other hand that makes it perfect for the lead singer who doesn't play an instrument and wants to remove it from the holder and put it back in on the fly. And the pictures don't do it justice. This thing is really pretty. Nice chrome basket. Love it, you just have to be aware of those couple of things. I thin I will eventually put one of these on the other two singers in the band. I can't wait to try this out on a snare drum or guitar cab in the studio. Super clarity for a hundred buck mic. And I proved right out of the box that it will take a beating. Wish I could say the same for my foot.

Comments about Blue enCORE 100 Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
This is a good buy for the money.
The sound is clean, low self noise, low handling noise.
Frequency response is perfect for vocals, with a strong proximity effect.
It actually sounds better than the Encore 200 model - which is more expensive.
Construction is very solid and durable.

Love this mic. Had a SM58 for 25 years - can't complain - but this Blue has superior sound definition and is built like a tank. It looks cool, too!

In a nutshell you will not be dissapointed. I'm singer of the band Forbidden Mission and we own both the shure sm-58 and now the blue enore 100 and I can tell you i havent touched the sm 58 since purchasing the encore !!! It offers a clear and pristine sound quality and an appearance like no other.

very sturdy construction actually a little bit heavy when you first hold it. Huge grill thats beautifully designed and produces smooth, crystal clear sound.
Best in its price range by a long shot.

Overall: To quote "Toy Story"....If you dont have one. GET ONE.
I bought this as an upgrade to my Shure PG58's that I use in coffeeshop gigs. I use a Shure SM58 at church during worship, but this mic blows it away. I have a deeper and throaty voice than most, so this responds PERFECTLY well with a engineer and sound guy that really knows how to tune it to someone's voice. The case that came with it is just exquisite! I use a BLUE Bluebird in my studio and I knew staying with BLUE that I would NEVER be disappointed.
The quality in my opinion outshines that of any Shure SM58. The beauty and weight of this thing just blows my mind.
There's no better value on the planet...
Comments about Blue enCORE 100 Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
I have always wanted to try this mike, and when I did, it was unbelievable. The comments coming from musician friends were positive, that a lot of my friends said they would go out and get one. I already purchased another one. If something happens to my first one, I don't want to use another brand. The Encore 100 is by far the best mike I have ever bought.
Comments about Blue enCORE 100 Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
This mic blows away two different sennheiser mics live and is a great value. The only thing missing is an on-off switch. For the price I can understand it, I just wish it had one. This is not a condenser mic and is not the powered dynamic that blue also sells. Don't expect it to sound like either one. For the price, you can afford to try it.

Comments about Blue enCORE 100 Dynamic Vocal Microphone:
I can't say enough about this mic. I've used it on vocals and guitar so far. It would undoubtedly do well on drums and bass amp. On vocals it is warm, defined, and clear. Good feedback rejection. On a guitar amp when you a-b it with a SM57 and a e609s it has a warmer, less harsh, dark but well defined, smooth tone. Similar to a Royer I suppose because of the natural bump in low end avoided in most vocal mics. This characteristic is why I think it would do well on toms, kick, and bass. I would prefer it over a Shure Beta 57a, Shure SM57 Sennheiser e935, Sennheiser e609s, or Audix OM-6 respectively. This is truly a versatile all purpose mic. Ridiculously solid construction. At 400 grams it is 115 grams heaver than a SM57, which is notorious for being indestructible. It looks and sounds 4x what it's worth. Blue makes the best mics out there. Don't think twice about this mic. It's worth every penny.
