The best of the best

By Twister

from California

Comments about BLUE Kiwi Microphone:

BLUE microphones are hand made right here in the US. That says something to me. I have two KIWI's and two baby bottles and I find am finding that 99% of my recordings are mic'd with these four mics. There is a reason Windham Hill artists use these to record accoustic guitars. The KIWI is an amazing mic for vocals too, the high end is beautiful, the sybillance is smooth and it captures the low end accurately and smooth. I dunno- don't just take my word for it. 9 polar patterns to boot. That is like the clincher. Just starting out and want one mic that will do just about everything and do it exceptional? This is the mic. You will not be disappointed. Buy it over the Neumann

    Comments about BLUE Kiwi Microphone:

I use this microphone as the main vocal mic in my professional recording studio. The mic is very clean and versatile. I would say its pretty neutral sounding but smooth. I believe it's versatile for any micing situation. The polar pattern dial could be better designed, maybe raised a bit more to make it easier to turn and up higher on the capsule away from the shockmount. Speaking of the shockmount, I own two other Blue mics (Bluebird, Baby Bottle) with the same shockmount and I don't like them. They don't stay put. They should have designed them with teeth so that when you set the mic angle you can have confidence it won't slip. As it is if you bump into the mic stand they'll slip. If you have it set and plug/unplug a cable or use the pattern selector they'll slip. The Kiwi is a big mic and it's heavy. Blue needs to address this. However, their mics are all very good to excellent and they look cool too. You can't dismiss that if you have a pro studio. Clients dig them.
