OVERVIEW

Hi-fi headphones with built-in amplifier.

Mo-Fi stands for "true mobile high fidelity." From your studio gear to your laptop and even your phone, the built-in audiophile amp and perfectly matched precision drivers provide articulation and huge dynamic range from device to device. Mo-Fi's amp removes the burden of power from your mobile devices, so they can pass audio at their optimum output levels-this means that you are always tapping into the highest possible audio quality. With Mo-Fi, you get studio quality audio on any device, so you can track, mix and really enjoy your music anywhere.

WHY BE PASSIVE WHEN YOU CAN BE POWERED?
Remember when studio monitors went from passive to active? Now it's happened to headphones. Mo-Fi brings the performance of custom-tuned, high-end reference monitors to your ears, so you can judge what's really going on in your mix. When you're making music, the built-in amplifier provides ample headroom, while the excellent sound isolation lets you hear the music clearly. It all integrates together to deliver astounding accuracy and detailed imaging, so you'll be able to create mixes on any device that translate across all systems.

FIT AND COMFORT-REINVENTED
Mo-Fi is no ordinary headphone. From the multi-jointed design to earcups shaped like ears, Blue has completely reimagined the form and functionality. The result feels less like a headphone, and more like a high-quality instrument you can wear.

The unique multi-jointed headband was inspired by the finely tuned suspension of an open-wheeled Formula One racecar. It's elegant. It's comfortable. And it features an adjustable tension knob that allows you to dial-in the perfect setting-not too tight, not too loose, but just right. Pivoting arms allow for a small change in the angle of the earcups to achieve a large amount of height adjustment. The earcups simply float into place. You get a level of fit and comfort that just isn't possible on other headphones. Plus it creates a perfect seal, resulting in solid bass response, improved isolation and reduction in bleed-perfect for tracking in the studio.

ALL-ANALOG AMP MODES
Unlike those bass-in-your-face headphones, Mo-Fi includes three amp modes so you can choose the right sound for your music. No DSP tricks here-this is all analog. "On" activates the audiophile amp, "On+" engages the amp's low-frequency enhancement circuit for exceptionally rich and smooth bass, and "Off" puts the headphones in passive mode if you're connected to high-output studio gear. No matter if you're tracking, mixing or just enjoying your music, you'll have total control over your listening experience.

INTELLIGENT POWER MANAGEMENT
Mo-Fi's smart design saves big on battery life, ensuring that the headphones are always ready for action. First off, Mo-Fi knows when you've stopped listening and automatically powers down to save juice. The battery will charge completely in 3-4 hours, and give you approximately 12 hours of life-changing playtime (with intelligent power management, that 12 hours will feel like forever). And even if the battery runs down, Mo-Fi can continue to work in passive mode.

GO FROM LO-FI TO MO-FI
More and more hi-resolution music is hitting the market. These incredible recordings allow you to enjoy all the details of the original tracks. But why listen to hi-res music with low-res headphones? Only Mo-Fi can faithfully reproduce these amazing recordings. So go Mo-Fi-and hear what you've been missing.

Comments about BLUE Mo-Fi Powered High-Fidelity Headphones:

I was looking for clear-sounding headphones to use in my practice/recording studio. These did not sound as good as a pair I already had at about 1/3 the cost.
They sat to close to the ear so that the tone of the instruments had no air or space around them. Upon further reading about this product, it seemed clear they were made to boost the volume and fidelity of of portable devices like Pads, MP3 players and smartphones. I can fully imagine this to be true, but they would dwarf these devices. They're just too high-priced for what they were made for.

Updated Review, not the Holy Grail : (

Pros

    Cons

    • Cord Too Short
    • Too Heavy And Too Hot
    • Unattractive Design

Comments about BLUE Mo-Fi Powered High-Fidelity Headphones:

I just review these after a very short listening session and called then the Holy Grail BUT I must take this back. Not because the sound is not what I stated, NICE natural flat analog sound but WOW the weight, the heat and how tight. The memory foam sounds nice, but it's just way too hot. Add to this, even on the loosest setting they just squeeze the head way too tight. Just after a half an hour I was sweating and was so uncomfortable I had to take them off and quit working! I think they are trying to make these for 2 different crowds of listeners; One group that needs an amp. and a closed sound for Ipods, computers etc. to keep the room noise out. So the tightness and heavy amp. to hear the Ipod is necessary. The other crowd is like me; wanting a true flat natural analog sound to record and mix.. and to just listen back the TRUE sounds. But group two doesn't need the amp. and the weight it carries. This is the first try for BLue, and I wrote them hoping they will try again without the amp, the weight, not so very tight and with a longer heavier duty cord (the cord is the flimsiness shortest cord I've ever seen!) Sorry, I just think for either crowd these cans will be too hot and uncomfortable. And what a shame as they sound great! But the greatest sounds won't work if you burn out just after 30 minutes of listening.

Comments about BLUE Mo-Fi Powered High-Fidelity Headphones:

No headphone amp needed! Low impedance certainly helps with concept of a built in amp. A comparison to my Beyerdynamic DT880 (600ohm) isn't quite fair since the Beyers are open back, but, they are more open with a wider soundstage. The downside of course is that they require a good seperate amp. Even so, they are not nearly as loud as the Mo-Fi. One thing I notice about the Mo-Fi is that the sound is more immediate and a bit compressed, meaning that the dynamic range doesn't seem to be as wide as good traditional phones. This is much more noticeable when using them powered. Unpowered, the sound is more like traditional closed back phones (think the famous Sony MDR 7506 or 09). They do have some self-noise as well (powered). The Mo-Fi was recommended on the Fractal Audio forum by the owner, and he was right; they are a much better solution for direct monitoring (you know, for late night/apartment practice). I imagine they will work well with other guitar modelers too. So, while these won't completely replace traditional phones, and are maybe not the best choice for audiophiles, they do represent a step forward in the technology. The quality expected from Blue is certainly evident as well. The mechanical design is simply brilliant. Yeah, they're a little heavy, but the weight is balanced and distributed in a way that makes them comfortable. I can't imagine trying to use them while working out though! So, probably avoid that. All in all, highly recommended. Excellent closed back headphones. Oh, and the amp can get really, really loud.

Comments about BLUE Mo-Fi Powered High-Fidelity Headphones:

OK, I own a recording studio and I was on the hunt for the holy grail... just a simple analog FLAT set of phones to record and mix with. Ok, did I find the Holy Grail? Musicians friend guided me to this microphone company that just 4 weeks ago put out there first cans called BLUE Mo-Fi Powered High-Fidelity Headphones. The pro; the off (no amp) setting is the HOLY GRAIL! YES, after years of just wanting a nice analog flat signal that told me EXACTLY what's going on the tape with NO color or EQ I FOUND IT and it's analog so the ear fatigue is gone! Digital signals are killer on the ears, especially in close up closed headphones. I wish they would of made one set without the amp. as they become somewhat heavy, but not too much. I just wished I could of not paid for the amps. that causes the extra size and weight, but I'll get use out of the amp. settings. With the amp OFF it's the Holy Grail, with the amp on the first setting, it's still very flat, close to the grail, but much louder (WARNING! TAKE THE PHONES OFF OR TURN COMPLETELY DOWN IF YOU SWITCH SETTINGS) and the second setting is for all you Beat heads that want an EQ setting (I get it, at first flat sounds boring, lacking bass, but give flat a chance and after getting use to the REAL sounds, you won't go back to unnatural EQ signals) I love how the Blues can give you the sound of 3 different cans, but I'd prefer a set without the amp. I hear they are coming out in 6 months with even higher end phones, I'm going to write them to see if they'll put out a set without the amp.
