Stop looking for the perfect microphone and buy this one. It has a smooth full sound. Vocals and acoustic guitar come out full and need very little eq to mix. A great mic

For the price, I can't imagine a better microphone, I love this thing

Overall:

Great price, quality and performance in this microphone. I use it on everything and love the sound.

no frills, this mic just kills!

Features:

what's so fantastic? nothing. no high pass, low pass, db. range selectors, or any of that nonesense. handy little focus control switch but even that doesn't do much. just pure, raw, brutally honest response. the woden box is a nice touch too. and the little panflet that came with it was designed to look like a book of matches (spark). these of course have nothing to do with the mic itself, but it's still pretty cool!

Quality:

i was skeptical at first just seeing pictures of this thing because the arm holding the diaphram looks really skimpy. but i was supprised to find this thing is actually quite sturdy.

Value:

for the price, nothing beats it.

Overall:

i've been using a rode nt1000 lately for vocals, and honestly, i like this little guy better. equally as respnsive, but more focused. the rode would litterally pick up my cat meowing across the house. the spark picks up nuance and inflection just as well, without recording all of the unwanted ambient noise that happens to flow in a typical home studio. for anyone looking for an affordable vocal and all around mic, look no further. this mic is hands down the best value you will find in this price range.

I do lots of bedroom recording, and for over a year my only condenser microphone was an MXL 990. I used it to record many sources including vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, saxophone, clarinet, and percussion. It got the job done but consistently produced a sort of stale, tinny sound, which led me to start looking for a new condenser once I had the money to buy one.

I researched most of the condenser microphones on this site in the price range; I read all of the reviews, I listened to any sound clips I could find on youtube or elsewhere, and based on the overwhelmingly positive response from Spark owners, I chose the Blue Spark.

After doing a few side-by-side recordings to compare with my MXL 990, it was immediately clear that the Spark was a great decision. "Buttery" is probably the best way I can think to describe its sound. The focus control on the back is a great little feature. I can go straight from recording acoustic guitar with the control disabled to recording vocals with the control enabled instead of having to constantly readjust EQ on my mixer.

The Spark comes in a cool wooden box. The metal shock mount is high quality. I still use another pop filter in front of the small Blue one, as the Blue pop filter doesn't completely do away with plosives. This microphone is acutely sensitive to different positionings. It takes some time to get used to where to place it in relation to any sound source, but once you find a good spot the mic performs wonderfully. Highly recommended for bedroom studio musicians on a budget.

There were some other reviews on here that got deleted?     Anyway I like the focus feature.     Sounds a lot better than my old MXL 990.

I am only rating this an eight because the mount is kind of cheesy.

if you were on a budget like me, you will not go wrong with this microphone. I got this about 2 months ago and trashed my at2020. The clarity upgrade was ridiculous,It catches the higher frequency on singers i work with very nicely and doesn't take away any presence,  It has a great natural tone. To be honest its pretty hard to sound bad with this mic. So Buy it.
