OVERVIEW

Low-profile instrument mic.

The supercardioid pickup pattern rejects unwanted ambient sounds and focuses on the sound source directly in front of it for a cleaner mix. The microphone' new duo-point suspension' secret is an internal polymer floatation device decoupling the rare-earth assembly from the metal enclosure greatly reducing unwanted mechanical sounds from microphone stands. The included rubber mic clip provides additional isolation. Excellent for snare drum, mounted toms, floor toms, guitar cabinets, brass Instruments and more.

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I bought this to mic my small combo amp. My sound man says he can't tell the difference between it and the standard most guys use to mic combos. only used a couple of times but it appears to be road worthy. If you are wanting to save a few and increase your mic arsenal this is the one

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

So far so good. I saw this as a 'stupid deal' got it to try as a vocal mic. I have a deep baritone voice and so far it records me clearly with excellent HF capture. For me, the vocal sound is as good or better than my Studio Projects C1.

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

The best mic I have used with my guitar amps.
Very surprised at the cost compared to others I have used for micing up my amps, a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe and my own Fender Baseman design/build.
Would definitely recommend this to others.

Used on stage to mic an old 73' Fender Pro Reverb. The sound out of the PA had great tone, the exact tone coming out of the amp. Nice and compact size.

I have other CAD microphones and love them. I received this mic and compared it to a Shure SM 57 and the results were incredibly alike, It picked up the bright tones and the bass tones of the acoustic guitar with total clarity. I love it. A great addition to my microphone collection.

This little mic seems to have many uses in my studio. I've used it on toms (great because of almost no bleed), guitar cabs (very accurate) and along with a ribbon on acoustic guitar, quick, easy and good. Very impressed with this one.

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

Got 2 of them on stupid deal of the day. It was a no brainer for the price. I've heard of them compared similarly to SM57's. Personally, I'm using them to mic guitar amps to a PA system as well as in a home studio and it sounds great. Also not bad if your're looking for a "punchy" acoustic guitar sound. I haven't tried them on any drums yet but they seem like they'd handle any hard hitting sound well. The TSM411 appears to be a standard on toms; or at least in the realm of YouTube drum cover recordings that's what it looks like. My only complaint would be that they didn't come with any kind of case, just cardboard. Either way a great mic for the price, good for "punch", amps, and definitely has a rugged solid body.

Got a pair of these on sale just to try them out, and I was pleasantly surprised with their sound. Really like the super-cardioid pattern and their relatively small size. May have found my new go-to mic for guitar amps and toms.

I am a drummer who sings and needed a mic with a very small footprint... mic has a ton of gain, and with the addition of a cheap windscreen this mic far exceeded expectations... nice, compact design, feels sturdy and well built in your hands... best of all the tone of my voice sounds great thru our road PA system... just bought my second, what a steal!

These mics work great on drums. Small format means the drummer hits them less often. Well built and durable. Did a direct comparison with an SM57 on a guitar cab. Better highs and definition. A great value for the price.

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

My son and I bought a couple of these awhile back and recorded a 1970's vintage Orange 4x12 cab that was being pushed by an 1977 Marshall Super Lead 100. I liked the TSM411 over SM57. The sound had a slight boost at the high ends, which is evident on CAD's response sheet. One of the previous reviews commented on the coloration of this mic. (but isn't that why we own so many different mics? ;)) Know that before purchasing. My son's favorite was a mixed combination of the TSM411 with the SM57, he got the best of both worlds on the recording. This is a great mic for the value.

I used this to mic a guitar cabinet. I use a Tascam DR-03 with onboard microphones and could never seem to get a good sound. I ran a cable with a 3.5mm plug from the TSM411 to the recorder and I get clear sound no matter how loud the volume is and switching from clean to dirty is no problem now. I got this from the STDOTD and am very impressed with the performance even at full price.

Comments about CAD TSM411 SuperCardioid Dynamic Microphone:

I got this mic when it was on sale for the SDOTD. I needed a workhorse instrument mic for my home studio and thought it might fit the bill; and the price that day was right!

Packaging was minimal; just a little white box with some bubble wrap, the mic and its stand mount, and a 1 page spec sheet from the manufacturer. It arrived in perfect condition, although the color of the mic is a bit darker in person compared to the pictures online. The darker color looks better anyway IMO.

The rubber holder/stand mount works well and i feel that I'll never have to worry that this mic will fall out of its clip... ever. The rubber part completely surrounds the mic so you have to remove the cable to put it on. In my situation, it will literally live on the stand full time, so this is a plus for me.

The mic itself is heavier and more solid feeling than I imagined. It doesn't feel cheap at all and seems like it will withstand years of earsplitting solos and whacks with drumsticks!

First thing I did was to audition the mic with my voice through my DSP and some headphones. First impression was good. My speech was loud, clear, and balanced sounding. I added a long delay so i could hear only the reproduction.

Later, I recorded an acoustic guitar track I've been itching to get down. Good results again in this application. I did have to boost the lows a little bit to get a balanced sound, but only a tiny bit. The mids and highs were very well defined with no EQing. After adding some effects (EQ, reverb, doubler, hint of chorus...) the track was starting to sound better that I expected!

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with the performance of this mic! For SDOTD the price, it cant be beat! Even at normal price it would make a solid home studio mic and it would be great back up for live use. It is meant to be a drum mic, but I cannot comment about its performance in that context.

I bought one of these to use on a cajon--I place it on a short stand in front of the drum toward the top, along with a bass drum mic mounted inside. The combination of the two mics gives me a great sound. I didn't know what to expect, as I have a couple of other CADS that I would describe as cheaply made, but the reviews for this were good and the price was right so I took a chance. Turns out that this is a well-built, sturdy mic with a good sound for my purposes and a small footprint. The mount is especially well designed for keeping the mic right where you want it. I choose it over an SM57 for my live performances. After gigging with it regularly for a few months I like it enough that I just ordered a second one. I do agree with others that it would be nice if it came with a bag or case of some sort, but for this price I think I can find something to put it in.

So far I've only used it as a room mic, but it was a lot clearer than I anticipated.

They work well for miking my little 6 Watt Fender Champ. Time will tell how they work with my bigger amps, but it looks promising at this point.

I bought it as a "Stupid Deal of the Day" to try out as a harmonica mic. Nice find! Fits nicely in your hand, and supercardiod pattern makes it easier to avoid feedback if you get out from behind your amp. Sound quality rivals a Shure SM-57, for a lot less money. Shock mount makes it work nicely as an instrument mic for amps, and it will take the sound pressure created if you use it as a drum mic. I haven't had it long enough to evaluate durability, but I expect it to do well.

This is the second of these CAD mics I've purchased. Excellent value for the price point. I prefer this mic over an SM57 for guitar cabs. SM57's are a standard, but because they are such a diverse mic and have a broader spectrum of tone, they require more EQ to dial in that punchy mid range on an electric guitar cabinet. I really like the smooth quality of this mic and it's also a little smaller up against the grill of an amp, so if you're in a tight space it helps give you a little more room.
