A versatile pair of desktop studio monitors with pristine sound.

The Cakewalk MA-15D Digital Stereo Monitors are ideal for a number of professional and consumer uses. They are great options as studio reference monitors or as a second set of monitor speakers to use in a surround sound configuration. The MA-15D's offer a wide-range spectrum and crystal-clear audio reproduction.

The MA-15Ds feature a built-in Bass Enhancer, which operates on psycho acoustic principles that converts low frequencies into a series of overtones the human ear cannot distinguish from the original low frequencies. This allows the listener to perceive bass frequencies outside of the normal range of the speaker cone, without overdriving the woofer. With the Bass Enhancer the MA-15Ds offer a strong low-end in a very compact set of reference speakers. In addition these Cakewalk studio monitors offer a Sub-Out port, to connect a sub woofer.

The MA-15Ds accept input from digital sources through either the coaxial or optical S/PDIF ports, supporting up to 24-bit/192kHz sources. With this, you can connect digital sources directly to your speakers, keeping an unadulterated audio signal all the way to the power amplifier in your speakers. Hear exactly what you have recorded!

The Cakewalk MA-15Ds offer conveniently placed Volume and Tone controls. While a large studio setup typically uses a mixer to control output level to the speakers, compact desktop setups can rarely afford the space a mixer requires. This is not an issue with the MA-15Ds, as you can adjust your output volume and tone right on the front of the speaker.

You can also connect two different sources directly into the monitors, allowing you to listen to audio from any two line-level sources. You can have both your computer and your stereo connected to the MA-15Ds, for example. These studio monitors offer independent volume control for each of these inputs, effectively taking the place of a small desktop mixer for monitoring.

You can also plug headphones directly into the MA-15Ds and mix without disturbing other people. Plugging in headphones automatically defeats the speakers, allowing you to mix without disturbing others, and without having to disconnect anything in your setup.

The Cakewalk monitor speakers are also magnetically shielded for use in close proximity to your computer monitor without interference.

subwoofer output misleading

By Nehemiah Chu

from Salt Lake City

Comments about Cakewalk MA-15D Digital Stereo Micro Monitor Pair:

Other than my annoyance at the subwoofer out, this pair packs quite a few features into a fair price point. Not the best audio quality in the world, but you get what you pay for.
The signal that emanates from the subwoofer out also contains mids and highs. The unit's on-board circuitry DOES NOT clean out those frequencies to isolate only the lows. Misleading.

Other than that, the unit performs well for its price point. Enjoying how there are two stereo inputs with individual volume controls for each input. Makes this pair quite versatile.
The highs don't have as much air as Rokit Gen 1s, but you get what you pay for.
Packs more useful features into this pair than any other monitor I know. Best-in-class.

Comments about Cakewalk MA-15D Digital Stereo Micro Monitor Pair:

In the reference monitors world, you have many choices, depending the money you wish to pay. $189 may be considered a entry level price. many people think MA-15D are a more sophisticated computer speakers. I dont think so. This was a very respectable pair of micro monitors, with a great sound in reasonable volume. Good if you can work with moderate volumes. Sounds much better than same price M-Audio or Samson Resolv. You can tweak EQ and obtain a awesome results. If you want more bass, add a subwoofer. Keep away if you need a lots of volume and punchy bass. If you are a professional, you may know, the need of a more sophisticated monitors, like JBL,Mackie,Adam Audio etc, and be minded to paid much more.
Looking for a new pair of moderate price monitors, I found this MA-15D. Not biamped, but sounds pretty good. Separate bass, treble and line 1, line 2 volume knobs on the front makes easily to adjust .Power indicator light. Phones jack on the front. Optical line in. subwoofer line out (if you wish to add one) You can hook an Ipod or MP3 using another line and control volume with a separate volume knob as line2
Bass enhance switch adds more bass at low volumes
Wood cabinet help to sound better. Feels sturdy. LF drivers have mesh grilles. Is a great addition to protect it. Buttons and controls ok. . But, be realist. Dont expect a punchy bass. Remember the size of the 4 inches LF driver. HF drivers delivers crisp highs. You can listen many musical details and frequency.
I think it was a good value for the money. Roland makes very reliable stuff.

Comments about Cakewalk MA-15D Digital Stereo Micro Monitor Pair:

Close in accuracy, very affordable, and perfect for a small studio. I especially like the headphone jack in front. Makes life so much easier than what I had before. I would actually like to buy another pair as back ups cause I fear they may stop making them..I'm actually that pleased with them!
The best feature in my opinion is that most of the controls and headphone jack are in the front. It was very difficult to find a set of small monitors with easily accessible controls.
I've been using these for two years now (heavily) and they still sound as good as the day I bought them. They are very close in accuracy to what you've recorded, not perfectly flat but very close. I keep the volume, bass and treble top dead center and don't touch it. Isolating them from your workspace is a definate equalizer. I had some leftover foam packaging pieces that fit perfectly under them, and it made a world of difference. Before they were sitting directly on 2"wooden shelves and it made them too bassy Tinker with the placement a little and you'll soon find their sweetspot.. Then it's just set it and forget it.
$180.00 whats not to like? I'm sure I coulda paid a bunch more. I like these so much and the sound is so good, It makes me wonder just how much better quality in sound I could get by paying nearly double the price for KRK and the like.

Comments about Cakewalk MA-15D Digital Stereo Micro Monitor Pair:

i like to read reviews before buying a product. i didnt really see to many for this so i went out on a limb and went for em. i think theyre great speakers. i kinda new at recording music so i wasnt to sure on what to except. i do hip hop and i wasnt sure how the lows were goin to sound but i was impressed. they have a setting on the back to switch how much bass they have plus theres a knob in the front. i also hooked up a 40 watt sub and think theyre great.
