One-track editing for mono audio files.
Melodyne Uno offers you the celebrated Melodyne technology in the most compact and affordable format. It is a one-track audio editor for monophonic audio files. Melodyne Uno dispenses with the multi-track Arrange window of the larger versions of Melodyne and operates like a normal sample editor: all you do is load in a file, edit it, save your work, and you're done. There couldn't be a simpler or more intuitive way to benefit from Melodyne's unique editing possibilities.
Like the larger versions of Melodyne, Uno uses efficient combi tools for all Editor parameters. Moreover, the Correct Pitch and Quantize Time macros are available, too. The Correct Pitch macro allows you to correct the pitch of out-of-tune notes and eliminate ugly pitch drift from a recording with two mouse clicks. The Quantize Time macro offers you just as quick and convenient a way of correcting timing errors ” notes that sound too late or too soon or are held too long or not long enough. This makes Melodyne Uno the ideal tool for vocal production, editing melodies and grooves, and for correcting audio recordings.

My singer lives in New Zealand and I'm in the US, so getting a perfect take during a session is almost impossible. After a lot of research and comparison with Antares, I purchased Melodyne Uno because of the many reviews saying how natural sounding any corrections would be. The software arrived on a Friday afternoon, the install took about 30 minutes, and an hour later I had a beautiful lead vocal track for project. The reviews are right--this thing does not kill your vocals with unatural pitch changes and is very melodic!A couple of things could be better:1/ When installing under Vista you need to run the program as an administrator, otherwise the registration process will not work. This is not documented in the manual, but after 10 minutes in the user forums I found the answer.2/ Scale selection using a midi keyboard instead of the piano roll would be nice.3/ Pitch correction of notes using a midi keyboard instead of dragging the envelopes on-screen would be really cool!Otherwise this software is well worth the price.
My vocals, well, needed a little help. I sing in tune... MOST of the time. But I can't get my voice to stay in tune perfectly like a pro. I bought this software hoping to help my problem, and frankly, I am very impressed! I just take my vocal tracks from Logic Express, dump them into this software to correct the pitch, dump them back into Logic, and VOILA... it is pretty cool how it makes my voice sound in tune naturally. I was afraid it would make it sound weird and unnatural, but it does not do that at all. I recommend this to anyone who likes to sing, but needs a little help, like I do.
In my many years of recording this has to be my most favorite software. So you think you sang that track perfectly huh? Run it through Melodyne see the errors and correct them automatically. You tune you instruments before recording right? Now tune your vocals too. I have yet to do a recording of any vocal that does not sound at least 20% better after using this software. This is the best investment you can make for your studio. Works well on instruments too; it did wonders on a fretless bass!
