Fast-moving, fat green laser beams with no waiver required!

Thanks to Chauvet's Fat Beam technology, you can now operate high-powered laser lights in the USA without a special variance from the FDA. Once upon a time, only lasers up to 4.95mW can be legally operated without a special waiver. Not anymore.

The Scorpion LGX green laser features powerful 10mW laser diodes yet requires no special waiver. A novel design of the laser diodes and wider-than-usual beams create a dramatic increase in perceived brightness, up to 10 times that of standard lasers. The Scorpion LGX is a highly portable, 10mW, linkable green laser with wireless remote control. It operates in sound active, automati, or master/slave mode and features 80 preset patterns. Conforms to FDA and IEC standards for class IIIR lasers.

Scorpion LGX Wins Crystal Disc, the world's largest information network for disc jockeys, awarded The DJZone 2005 lighting Crystal Disc to Chauvet for its Scorpion LGX Laser featuring Fat Beam technology. The awards are given annually to sound and lighting manufacturers whose products exhibit superior technical innovation for the mobile and club disc jockey industries. Disc jockey industry leaders and nearly 60,000 registered members of the DJZone network of websites submit their nominations for the awards.

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

This review will sound like a factory one, but it's not. I am the sound and light tech for a Christian band and I have one of these in our truss setup. I have no range issues with the remote, i have probably been 70' with no problems and for those that didn't read the manual, there is a switch on the unit that lets the remote work from behind! The number of effect patterns this laser has is awesome, and you can just hit "sound" on the remote or "auto" and it will change on its own. We have a couple of songs that I use set patterns and it will remember which one you used when you turn it off. So when you turn it back on it is on the one you set, which is nice. As far as the beam width, I can say it is much bigger to me than others I have seen, so for the money I thought why not get the biggest I can. I have used it for about 30 hours so far with no problems, but as one reviewer said its worthless without fog, besides you won't see anything without fog. Fog makes the show for lasers, lights, effects, everything. So first buy yourself a good fog machine if you want to see any effects!

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

I have two of them. They were great at first. After two shows onf of them stopped working in slave mode. I took them out of slave to stand alone. The one would only come on half the time of the other one. I took it back and got it replaced. Now the other one is doing the same thing. Can not use the remote from behind the unit. I had planed on having four of them in my show. NOT NOW!

It's just ok.

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

No different than my laser link G, the 10 mW laser is no more visible than the 4.9, seems to be basicaly the same as the laser link in a slightly different casing. In no way a breakthrough of any kind. Still, a nice product. Beams not at all visible without fog.

Great effect

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

This lazer is a great addition to any light show. Just has one drawback, the remote will only work at about 20 feet or less. The way around that is to buy a set of remote extenders from Radio Shack then you can go up to 300 feet.

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

This laser is all about fun. It would be nice if it were DMX. I've had no problems with the remote with the exception that you have to stand in front of the laser. Beams are visible in a dusty house if you stand back far enough. I suggest you get a good fogger to go with it. Great first laser, I look forard to getting a second to link as a slave.

Comments about Chauvet Scorpion LGX Green Laser:

I got this as my first laser, i dont have a dmx controller and i wanted something that would run on its own but still let me control its effects. the beam of the laser can be seen very far, i even used it in the day time outside. But it so much better with fog. the only drawback is that you really need smoke to have a full effect. and the remote really isn't that great. But i am keeping it because it really is fun and a good effect.
