I was using my iMac and the Idj3 to go around djing from place to place but with this device I can leave my computer home. I just got it so I can't comment on it breaking down overwear and tear but so far so good. for someone like me who doesn't own a laptop this is a good way to go. it does everything I need it to do and I don't have to lug my iMac around anymore. The only knock on this is if you have an iPod touch, iPod nano touch, iPhone you won't be able to use this device. Only the iPod classic works with it. and also if you're pulling songs from your mac iTunes library you have to make sure all of your music files are in the mp3 format (which was tedious to do)

My first reaction was WOW! Musicians friend got this unit past the border to Canada and to my house within 3 days! Unbelievable!I've been testing the unit for the past 5 days and has met my expectations.It looks great to start! Very stylish and clean. I love that the power button is in the front.The turntables are just the right size and feel almost like vinyl. No cheap plastic found here!The USB port can be attached to a USB hub to allow you to connect a keyboard and USB key or hardrive. However, due not that only a single device can be used at once and the unit must be shut down to switch over.This unit is best suited for people who are computer friendly and willing to spend some time on setting up their music library. You will have to make sure all music is in the MP3 format and your drives are organized and formatted to NTFS. Using the old FAT format will make the unit likely to freeze up or have troubles reading files.No fancy DJ software is required. Just a USB drive will do with music loaded!I'm very much looking forward to taking this thing to gigs.Highly recommend if you are the type of person looking for a DJ controller that actually works and want to stop using such needlessly bulky equipment! Save you back and keep your entire setup to 25 lbs including all your accessories! Your require workspace will also shrink to the size of ONE regular vinyl turntable and for a fraction of the price!It will make your other DJ friends very jealous!PS. If you would like to protect the unit is a hardcase you will need to buy a Cortex specific case. This unit is slightly to big to fit a standard case.
