This amp is a solid bargain. There's no noise during operation. Without the power lamp, you wouldn't know its on. Sound quality is excellent. I'm running two of these into JBL speakers with DBX driverack PA and a Yamaha mixer. This is a great amp for small to medium sized venues. At this price, I could see the more adventuresome getting a couple for home theater use. The amp runs cool with sufficient overhead.

I was very disappointed in the performance. I bought two of these to power stage monitors at a 150 person theatre. The monitors are rated at 175 watts at 8 ohms. They would be great for acoustic or jazz sets but, any type of music where you have to push a little harder they clip at the drop of a hat. I know I needed to get a larger amp to create a little headroom but for the price I thought it was worth a try. Maybe in a home studio setting.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

Crown power and sound quality, entry-level price. Didn't need the crossover feature of the XLS series-this was perfect. I'm running Bridged Mono to an 8U subwoofer-plenty of push! Remember though to switch your speakon pins(4 post) if you do the Bridged Mono option: (+1,+2 amp side) to (+1,-1 speaker side) respectively. Fan is inaudible even at system rest. Runs cool-even under load; Can't speak to longevity, it just hit the market. BUY!

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

I use this amp in my analog only set-up. Stanton turntable, Musical Fidelity X-Pre and X-10D tube pre-amp and buffer stages. Audioquest interconnects. This amp replaces a pair of Antique Sound Lab Wave-8 monoblock tube amps. I simply needed more power and this price seemed right and Crown's reputation was a selling point. First off, I do miss the "warmth" of the tubes in the monoblocks. I originally installed the Crown directly from the phono preamp of the Stanton. VERY clean sound. Some would prefer this set-up, but it was just a tad too "steely" for me as I prefer the sound of tubes, especially when listening to vinyl. Thus the use of the tube preamp (though not necessary given the Crown's volume/output controls.) I feel a good compromise was reached. I get audiophile quality sound even at very high volume levels. I have only had the amp in my system about a month so I cannot attest to it's dependablity or durability but it's sound quality is remarkable for it's price range. Very similar to my Audiosource Amp-2 but more powerful. Slightly less warm and a bit more bass shy than the Audiosource.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

First, I am using it to power my guitar amp modeling unit, so I am not experienced as a DJ or live sound equipment per se.

The first thing I learned is NEEDS some sort of preamp. If you try to run anything direct, you can turn the knobs to 10 and it will still be fairly low volume. This may not be a surprise to some, but it was for me.

Once I connected the Amp Modeler (behringer V-amp pro) it was quite different. I could barely get past 2 before it was deafening. I knew it was rated at 300 watts, but I also know amp manufacturers really love to fudge those specs to make their stuff look better. That does not seem to be the case here. I can set my speakers to either 4 or 16 ohms. I figured I would go with 16 since this is just a small personal jam room and I would be good, which it was, but, very surprising, not nearly the drop off you would expect. I don't have the capacity to test for output, but, to my ears, the ratings on this amp are legit.

Let me say this, IT WEIGHS A TON!!!. Not really, but not the best to be lugging around. 28 lbs or so. But that is fine because it is in a rack that will stay put. Along with that though it is solid and metal, very little plastic.

Can't say much more because it is new and barely used yet. I hesitate to give it a 5 star because of that. Maybe in a year I will come back and change that.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

I've got an x2000 and an x3000 and both are great! ive had them now for about 7 months and never had a problem. Both are powerful enough that ive never hit a clip light while having it pretty freaking loud. They have a very clean sound and very quiet fans. My friend has a Behringer amp and the fans are immensely louder than the Crowns. They produce very little noise, especially on a circuit with a dedicated ground. It would be nice if they had 1/4in ins but not a huge deal.

Haven't had it very long but it appears to be doing the job. I have it hooked up to my monitors and it really boosted the sound.
Will also use it on my mains but haven't yet. I'm just learning how to use this type equipment so I'm sure when I get more experience I will understand what it's doing for me. I have had no problems so far so I would recommend the product.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

This amp is the Bomb! For the money it can't be beat. This mama is HEAVY! (Heavy and groovy if you please.)
My only beef is that one of the binding post connectors would not allow the banana plug to be inserted fully. With a little gentle persuasion and the 'ole stink eye I got it to cooperate.
Cooling fans are very quite. Sound is clear, clean and powerful. Quite impressive!

This is the baby in the family. It's older brother (X4000) I'm sure would melt your face if you ever got in front of the speakers. But this amp would be great for small gigs or a DJ. This amp would also be great for monitors in a bigger stage set-up.

If you can live with the limited input choices and it's heavy weight this baby is for you. Sale price, power, Crown quality. It's a trifecta of sonic bliss.

This gets a 4 1/2 out of 5 on the banger scale. (Only losing 1/2 bang for the weight). Yes Martha...it's that good!

(I think I'll buy another one!)

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

At the current sale price (July 2014), this is a fantastic buy on an entry-level Crown power amp. As far as I can tell, the X 1000 is identical to the Crown XLi 800. For some reason, Crown has apparently re-branded the XLi 800. In any case, the X series amps, like the XLi and XLS series, are old school power amps. Gigantic toroidal power transformers (fastened to the top of the case with a big bolt), big capacitors, big heat sinks, and thick steel cases. The robust construction is reflected in the amps' weight. Unlike the newer Class D amps made by Crown, these babies are big and heavy. If they are anything like the XLS series amps, they will also be nearly bullet-proof. Bear in mind, however, that this series does not come with Crown's no-fault 3-year warranty.

Comments about Crown X1000 Stereo 2x300W Power Amp:

This unit was installed in the sound room of our church to drive the main PA speakers. It appears to work great for that purpose. Probably not really working it that hard though.
The unit was very easy to install. Everything is OK so far. The one thing I like is that with no active input signal source the output noise of this AMP is very quiet. I would probably have rated it higher except its too early to tell. We've only had it a few weeks.
