We were looking for something to use for monitors. We have a soundcraft Mixer, A QSC main AMP, and a TC Electronics crossover, all of which have really high fidelity sound quality. We did not want something that would compromise that. This amp works great in combination with those. The sound is very clean, and it has plenty of power. We have also tried it on the mains for some basic reinforcement and it worked just fine. We would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a solid amp for monitors or mid level mains.
I'm a bass player and have been using the Crown Xs700 Power Amp, in conjunction with my bass head, to run extra cabs on our bigger gigs. It has given me the gobs of clean, dependable power I was looking for plus some! I looked at many which weighed less and it's a bit too deep to fit into some racks (wouldn't fit SKB but fit nicely into a Gator Deluxe 2xspace). I LOVE this thang and HIGHLY recomend it for instrument or PA!
I have been using the Xti's started lookin for a cheaper amp to run monitors.Got this out of box hooked it up to some jbls jrx-125s this amp bumped both speakers.Great for live applications to loud for studio though. I guess that it is good you hear that fans are working other than that a+.
I just picked up one of these. I must say I am impressed with the sound quality. I really didn't think that there was a big difference in sound from one brand to the next when it came to power amps. Man, was I wrong. The first thing I noticed was the lack of any noticable hiss when I first powered the speakers up. Then I noticed, punchier bass, and cleaner vocals right away. I have 2 older Crate power amps and a newer QSC, but none even come close to this baby. This was the best money I spent on P.A. equipment so far.
Just got 2 of these baby's and started playing. set up A&H zed24, Crown xs700@2, Peavey qw3@2, and an ipod just to test the amps. First off the bad, Fans are way too loud to ever be used in a quiet environment. Good, everything. Bridged at 8ohm's each amp is delivering 1600w rms to the qw3's. Crystal clear, pure silence on the speakers when 0bit track played. flat response on pink noise with a slight drop off on the low end, but I don't have the subs hooked up. as for volume, well I Played some Soundgarden Rusty Cage and I can't turn the mains up past -10 without ear plugs in this room. As for wear, I have a xs500 that has no problems after 7mo heavy use.
Just took delivery and set it up to replace my Crown CE2000. First thing I noticed was the loud fan but the amp works just fine and is 12lbs lighter than my old but still working CE2000. Great Amp for the live performance's. Great Price! I do keyboard and vocals.
We purchased the XS700 about 6 months ago, we purchased it to add to our other xls to finish out a small P.A. First off all the grey in the photo is really chrome!!! How cool!! Cosmetics aside, after a test run of 3 or maybe 4 seconds it became obvious that we were going to have to replace all of our amps now because this one makes them sound muddy and tired. Not that the others are bad amps this is just better. I can't see how you can go wrong for the money. As far as longevity is concerned, I have used Crown amps for 7 years or so now and I haven't been let down by one yet. I have no reason to believe they will fail me now.
