Bought this to mic toms for my drummer's kit for recording. Already have good overheads, a better kick mic, a better snare mic, and a room mic. These are merely for adding punch.

I'm putting the kick drum mic on the floor tom. It's actually really nice for that if your drummer uses a 4 tom set and uses his floor tom quite a bit. It's not quite as punchy as the other mics, but it has better low end response, which is perfect.

The other mics sound pretty good. They're not Nashville studio quality, but they're easily better than what most people were recording with in their basements even just 5 years ago.

With all the advancements in microphone technology, mid-range/mid-budget brands like Shure are really going to have to rethink their strategy when a MF/GC house brand can sound almost as good if not just as good at a much lower price.

The only real complaint I have is the mounting clips. They're not super sturdy. But if you're not touring with them, and your drummer doesn't hit them constantly, and you take care of your gear and keep everything in the hardshell case when not in use, they should hold up pretty well. They have just enough spring in them to not shake and sound awful while recording, and are just rigid enough to get a good sound without eventually breaking from the vibrations of the drums. But they are plastic and not a very high quality plastic.

I can't give it 5 stars because it's not top of the line for sound, but very much above average, so it loses a star for that and for the clips. Otherwise these are a very very solid purchase at the price. You could do much worse.

If you are doing home demos, or looking for drum microphones that won't break the bank, consider Digital Reference. The quality and sound you receive for such a low price is unbelievable. This buy is a win-win..try them, it is worth it for that price.

My percussionist bought this set of mikes for his congas and bongos. At first
I was skeptical because I didnt know the brand name. They sound very clear and accurate. we have played over two hundred shows with them and they sound very good. my only negative would be the plastic clips that they came with, to attach the mikes to the congas broke the first week. So I went out and got 4 LP metal clips and it solved the problem.

Glad to have these in my tool bag. I perform with a cover band and we are always looking to improve our sound. We mic the kick, floor tom and snare. The mics are solid. Looking forward to having our improved sound this summer. I have 3 DR mics that are still working great. Don't let the price fool you these are worth a look. Note: Can be used for guitar amps, Bass amps, or Cajon.

I got these because of the price. I wanted to try out a drum specific kit versus the few cheap mics I had on our studio kit. Well, at least they can be heard through the pa that they are going through. They are easy to attach to the drums. Durability will have to be seen, they've only been through one jam and the limited testing I did myself. They sound ok, but I wasn't expecting much for the price, so I'm happy with em.

Comments about Digital Reference DRDK4 4-Piece Drum Mic Kit:

I've owned a set of these for around 10 years. I got into an opportunity to provide live sound for an outdoor concert series, and had to assemble a rig on the cheap. This set {which is Audio Technica's value line) got me through dozens of shows. The cool claws are fragile, but handy and replaceable. The mounting rings broke on a couple mics, and I fashioned new ones from plumber's metal tape wrapped in vinyl tape. I like the kick mic for floor tom, djembe, cajon and bass amps. I use a sennheiser on the kick.

I bought this Drum Mic Kit because I was broke. The sold cheap so I have not much to lose. In the past I have own well known Drum Mics so I was
anxious to get to the gig and used this mics. To my surprise they delivered a pretty good sound. The drummer (a picky guy with his sound) was very happy with the results. I used them for live sound gigs, Now I will said this... I have not test the mics for recording so I can't comment on that.
