I bought a few of these mics when it was on sale as a "cheap" mic to use in outdoor gigs for instruments. If it broke, it didn't bother me. I never thought that I would be so impressed with it. Historically I have used SM57's for micing instrument amps, and have always fought the "scooped" sound of them. As soon as I set up the DRI on the first amp, I was impressed. What came through the mains was simply louder - little coloration, nothing to EQ, it just worked. It is very nice to have a mic that you can put on stage, not worry if it gets damaged from abuse, and still get great sound.

Was given 3 of these for xmas. Used them to mic my fender combo and some baby toms for a new years day show. These things sound super clear on the front system. Sound engineer was very impressed. They pick up and reproduce exactly what u r micing up. Very sturdy and sleek. used a cabgrabber with the amp.

Comments about Digital Reference DRI100 Dynamic Instrument Mic:

I do sound for several acoustic events each month and needed some more acoustic mics for doing guitars and the such. I bought these with some reservations but at the price what the heck. I set up and recorded an acoustic guitar with a 57, then the same thing again with out changing a thing but the mic. The DRI100 is as good or better, you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference which was which (most people couldn't). All in all (price aside) these are as good as any I've used, the price is an added bonus.

I can't believe the sound I get our of these mics. GC gave me a great deal, 3 for 50. This was the best investment I every encountered. I was reluctant to buy them but after doing research on frequency ranges and looking at youtube videos of pros comparing them to a 57 l was sold. They are almost identical. Just do a YouTube search and listen to the comparison.

Comments about Digital Reference DRI100 Dynamic Instrument Mic:

Without a doubt and equal to an SM57 if not even better for some recordings ( high gains).
This mic is clearly ahead of an SM57 if you go into higher gain sounds as that is where this mic clearly sits on top of any SM57 . It is a heavy mic and feels solid, no cheap plastic. I actually use this mic far more often than the SM57 I have. Taken apart the Mic is built very well and the solder points are big , they look like someone wanted the mic to take some heavy abuse. 10/10 excellent Mic. Surprised me when I figured I bought a cheap Mic...

Comments about Digital Reference DRI100 Dynamic Instrument Mic:

I've been playing guitar for a long time but only recently put together a little home studio to record myself. I got a Scarlett 2i2 system that came with a good ribbon mic but it picks up everything in the room and I wanted something that pinpoints more of what I'm recording and it's working well for what I have. I gave it 5 stars based on the level of mic it is and compared to more expensive gear as I have no experience with that.

Comments about Digital Reference DRI100 Dynamic Instrument Mic:

Bought this as an alternative to my Shure 57, and was interested in finding a less expensive amp mic. This does the job well. It is very comparable to the Shure 57. In fact, it has a little better sound pick up than the Shure 57. I tested them bought and the DRI100 gave a higher pickup value than the Shure on my guitar amps. I did fine that there is some low end distortion issues when miking a guitar amp at a high output volume and heavy bass setting. Its great at highs and midrange EQs. The tested on a Fender and Boss Katana. The Boss is a higher output and that where I discover the low end distortion. The work great on the Fender. I would therefore use this mic on my Fender amps. The not sure about my Peavey, Marshall or Black Star yet. I would recommend this mic, it is a great value for the price.

Comments about Digital Reference DRI100 Dynamic Instrument Mic:

Bought this Mic to get something close to a shure for guitar micing and cabinet micing. When I got it I immediately noticed that it felt like a quality mic almost identical to its competition. I had listened to several side by sides and blind tests and was surprised how similar the DR mic sounded. Upon plugging it in I was initially surprised as the level was extremely low and I had to boost it to get a decent sound but it was easily doable and within minutes I had my cab roaring through my studio monitors. The sound quality for nearly half the price is a no brainer. Bottom Line: This mic sounds great for guitar and compared to some of the other instrument mics in the market allows you to put your money elsewhere.
