For me, this interface is perfect. If you need to record a whole band at once, this isn't for you. But, if you are searching for a relatively simple way to achieve quality recordings, this interface is worth every penny. Forget about the sampling rate. As long as your interface has a sampling rate above 44.1 there will be NO differences in the sonic quality. Also, I had a USB 2.0 M-Audio interface before this one. This one blows that thing out of the water.
You can always find an interface with way more features, but it has everything that I need. I love how the monitors and the headphones have separate volume control. Makes it very easy to switch in between the 2, which I do frequently. The focusrite compression and reverb it comes with are better than the one's my software provide.
Sturdy construction. Mine dropped off of my desk when I was moving things around, and it didn't affect it at all. I wouldn't call the preamps "award winning worthy," but they are certainly a step up from other interfaces I've encountered in this price range. It does exactly what I need it to do and it does it well without ever giving me problems. The instrument/mic inserts feel solid, unlike my plastic-y M-audio that felt like they were going to rip out when I unplugged the mic.
For an interface, this really is a good deal.

Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
I am a simple man - two inputs are all I need at a time. If I want to record more than that (i.e. a live application) I'd just use a mixing board and make a stereo mix.
I was using the Lexicon Omega for years... But lately it was just - buggy. Also I had to have it plugged into the computer when I turned the computer on or it wouldn't work. Not the Saffire6! I can use it any time I want to. And the best part? It uses software that Windows recognizes! No more ASIO. Oh, one more great thing - it uses power from it's USB connection, NOT another wall wart plug!!! COMPLETELY PORTABLE!!!!! It also works great with REAPER.
So far so good!
I rate it a 10 here -
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
As I said, we bought this thing because our old interface produced too much white noise when recording with a pair of M-Audio Pulsar IIs, and someone suggested the Saffire 6. It was a great suggestion, we've used it for all of our home studio guitar and vocal recording since then. I highly recommend it!
I has everything you'd expect: mic/line inputs with gain controls, headphone jack for input and playback monitoring, line outs for monitors, and phantom power. It has some extra stuff as well though, like optional 10 dB pads for each channel, a fader for input/playback balance through the headphones, RCA line outs, and MIDI ins and outs.
We bought the Saffire 6 because the interface we previously used (Tapco Link.USB) was too noisy to handle subtle acoustic guitar recordings, and it does not disappoint. The preamps are very, very quiet, and the construction is solid. We've also used the monitor outs with a set of Rokit monitors for mixing, and it handles that very nicely as well.
$200 for a 2-channel interface is not bad at all to begin with, but for that price I wouldn't have expected this kind of quality.
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
I use this interface with guitars and mics to record simple tracks in FL Studio 10 on Windows 7 x64. The drivers installed OK and the unit was recognized by both Windows and FL Studio with no problems.
The interface is simple enough that I was setup and recording without reading manuals, instructions, or researching online. There is no added noise, popping, clicking, or anything of the sort when instruments are plugged in.
I recommend this if what you're looking for is simplicity and low price.
The quality feels solid; The case is metal and the knobs are sturdy and fastened tightly (no jiggling or play). The push buttons feel a little cheap, but I can't imagine breaking this unless I dropped it from a good height.
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
I don't see how there isn't one negative review on this item. I don't understand, when you look up problems with saffire 6 there are plenty of people that have problems with them, yet, there are no negative reviews. I bought this item because I thought not only was this a safe bet, It was a good price and with the features it is hard to beat. The old saying goes "if it's too good to be true, then it probably is".
The features are great for something at this price.
It's built great, it has metal knobs and it pretty heavy. The box is metal. The problem is that I've had nothing but problems with this USB from not working with my DAW, and trust me it shows up, I've installed the updated drivers, I've reset it many times.... IT SHOULDN'T COME DOWN TO THIS TO GET A PRODUCT YOU PAY FOR TO WORK CORRECTLY. After I kind of fixed that problem it makes a loud hissing white noise while I'm trying to record. This product isn't plug in play it is very frustrating having to purchase something online that only works half the time. Do yourself a favor and skip past this. Although it has tons of features mine doesn't work most of the time. I am returning it as soon as possible.
I still rated the value at 6 because if yours works it probably does the job great.

Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
To be quite honest, there is nothing on the unit that I would change. It does everything that I need it to do and does it great. If you are on the fence about deciding which interface you want and are on a budget, definitely give this one a second look.
This interface is perfect for my needs. All I needed was something that allowed me to record my amp and vocals, and this interface delivers. Works nicely with my pc and has given me no problems. The mic preamps sound nice and clear and give no hiss. Absolutely love it.
Built out of metal (unlike some of the other interfaces in this price range) and is very solid. Also, the knobs on the front are nice and hefty, so I don't forsee any possibility of them sheering off.
There are some great interfaces out there for both a little more and a little less than what the Saffire 6 costs, but I feel that the price of the unit is good for what you get. It's a solid piece of equipment that should last you a very long time.
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
No complaints at all here. Works first time, everytime on my i7 32 bit XP/ SP2 system. Also no problems on my Dell laptop either.Sounds as good as the RME multiface box it replaced. Not the cheapest around, but I wanted quality and reliability.
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
There is a compatibility problem with the USB 1.1 drivers on core i7 powered PC's running a Windows OS. There is an audio problem when running low buffer sizes. My mic ins sounded like a crackling nightmare with the monitor on. Otherwise playback is great and the build quality is nice for the price of the unit. By only if you are currently running a core2duo PC or any Mac.
Comments about Focusrite Saffire 6 USB Audio Interface:
I bought this as a replacement for an Edirol UA-5, which is about 5 years old. After trying the Tascam US-144mkII, which I sent back due to horrible drivers, I got the Focusrite....Very Pristine audio recording and noticeably better mic pres than the Edirol and the Tascam. It took about 2 minutes to set up the drivers and they work perfectly ( I use Windows XP SP3). Latency is 11 MS, but this is due to my computer..Pentium 4 w 800 mz bus. I am sure with a newer dual core and >1M bus the latency would be better. It is still no problem..the direct monitoring is true zero latency. This is the best sounding audio interface for this price point...great mic pres.
