The Focusrite Scarlett 18i6 is an 18 in / 6 out USB 2.0 audio interface designed to make home multi-track recording a breeze. Alongside two award-winning Focusrite preamps, six high-quality analogue inputs allow you to simultaneously record guitar, bass, vocals and keys. You don’t need to stop there either – pop in the ADAT optical cable from an outboard eight-channel mic pre unit such as the Focusrite OctoPre MkII and you can track the drums at the same time.
Included with the Scarlett 18i6 is Scarlett MixControl, an 18 x 6 DSP mixer. I "run" two Audio inputs from a JUNO-G into a live mixer, then direct-out of the mixer into input #6 of the 18i6. I also run two seperate vocal mics into the mixer and again direct-out (each mic seperate) one into input 3 the other into input 4, of the 18i6. I have an Alesis DM-10 drum kit plugged into an amp with XLR direct-out; which is also run through the mixer and direct-out to input #7 of the 18i6. The Bass uses another input of the mixer, again direct-out and #8 input of the 18i6. This leaves input #1 and #2 for the guitars, which are both direct input from the effects send of the two Peavey ValveKing 100 amps.
Using the Focusrite Scarlett MixControl allows Computer recording (PC Win7) using SONAR ProducerX1 PRO. Latency set at 1ms, without any hick-ups, delays, distortions, etc.
Each instrument is assigned to it's own seperate recording track. So far, have had the Two keyboard tracks, DM-10, and the two guitars record at the same time. Hard to fing bass player, so have to add bass track later. Vocals are also recorded later.

I bought this interface and so far the sound is static and clippy maybe I'm not configuring it right, but I followed the instructions and still would not get decent sound, I now Im gonna pay for someone to set it up for me since is not mixer friendly at all, but without the mixer it gives an average sound, not clear as I expected more from this device I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that does not know what they are doing or maybe I got a lemon, I did not have so many problems with my digital multitracker Fostex mrkii, but I wanted to upgrade to good quality sound and the focusrite did not do as promised for me, the technical support is almost non existent and I regret buying this product too much time wasted in the dark figuring everything out on my own.

I've used this for about 8 months.
In summary, it sounds fine, but isn't that reliable.... So I'm looking for a different solution.
Issues:
1) drops off the USB bus every few hours. It is on a dedicated port on my MacBook pro, and requires power cycling the Scarlet.
2) audio section simply stops output every couple df days, the scarlet mixer interface seems to be still working....requires power cycling the Scarlet
3) midi output device does not have a name in the Mac midi manager which is confusing.
Clean inputs and outputs,
Handy to have the meters for the mic inputs,
Maybe the time lag for resolving the driver-related random latency problem should have been a sign.
Nice little unit when it is working.

Overall I would say it's a great buy and built very well...Buy now!!!
It's been a while since I have been this jacked about an interface. My older E-MU 1820m just wasn't cutting it anymore. I switched to recording on a desktop replacement. It would have cost a bundle to get the 1820m to work with the lappie. Did some research and waited for the Scarlett to come out and I'm glad I did. Setup was a breeze. I have really put it through the paces and it hasn't tripped up once. Recording at 96k 5ms and playback are very smooth. The sound is incredible very even no clipping or shuttering. If your in the market for a new interface pick one up you will not be disappointed.
Built like a tank very solid construction.
Come on for what you get it can't be beat.
