I've used a lot of different audio interfaces over the years, but this one definitely ranks near the top of the list for overall value and quality. The preamps sound really good, low noise, works flawlessly without having to constantly monkey with the drivers, etc., I like the dedicated switches for direct monitoring, phantom power, and separate monitor and headphone volume controls. I recommend the 2i2 if you wish to have a simple, great sounding, compact USB audio interface that you won't have to think about or struggle with. ***Of course, YMMV - I've only used this on a 2010 iMac.***
No midi I/O, but not a big deal for me since my keyboard controller and drumpad do midi over USB.
Frankly, I LIKE the fact that this is a basic, no frills sound card. I don't need digital I/O connectors or external digital clock out, etc. that all just add to the price and confusion. Just a very nice sounding two channel audio interface, with switchable direct monitoring and separate headphone and monitor outs.
Like the other reviewer said, the case is built like a tank! The phantom power button feels a little flimsy, but all other switches and knobs and connectors feel solid. I downloaded the latest drivers from Focusrite's website, installation was quick and painless. Garageband and Reaper saw the 2i2 interface with no problems and worked like a champ! Reboots, wake from sleep, etc. and the interface was always recognized by the OS and audio software without any hiccups.
Pretty decent gain on the input channels with both condensor and dynamic mics. The noise floor is also very, very low. In fact, I could barely hear any hiss at all with monitor or headphone volume cranked up. Speaking of headphone volume, although there was little to no hiss, the overall volume of the headphones was adequate but not super loud, so if you're someone who needs ear deafening audio blasting out of your headphones, you may be disappointed.
This has to be one of the best value audio interfaces out there right now. You get a great sounding interface for not much coin.

I wanted to go from 16 to 24 bits and had hoped Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 would be a low-cost solution. I had heard good things about Focusrite pre-amps. I was very disappointed in this product and shipped it back as it was not useable. I do hope mine was defective, but I would not try another.
Either mine was defective or the design is bad. When overdubbing, I could only get stereo monitoring--that is guitar in on ear and voice in the other. I prefer a mono option for recording and monitoring vocals particularly, this doesn't have one.
The monitoring volume is quite low, too low to be useful.
The loaded plug-ins were no where to be found. While it says that it's compatible with Mac, I think it's likely not well suited for Macs.
While a track sounded good once recorded, if I wanted to record over a track, it would only partially record leaving that track unusuable as it would have artifacts from both recordings.
If it worked, it would be a good value.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
I wanted a portable USB interface to record practices, demos, and song ideas. The sound the interface captures is clean, and I was able to set the lag time to 1ms using Reaper as the DAW. I've only used economy interfaces, so I don't know what the best of the best sound like, but I am extremely pleased with this interface. It does not color the sound and is capturing exactly what is being played.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
I had Windows Vista and I did not even try to install within that format. After I upgraded to Win8 it installed without a hitch. So it works but there is always gonna be a software learning curve so I haven't recorded with it yet.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
It does very well what is supposed to do,the thing i liked the most was the ability to record two different tracks(guitar/vocals for example) at the same time to my PC or Laptop, the sound quality is great, I use it with Reaper on Ubuntu Studio 12.10 getting minimum latency.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
Great value, above and beyond the quality of the others comparable in price. Only lacks the features that can be acquired in the 2i4 model (such as pad buttons and the added outputs).
I am having a slight ground hum out of my monitors but havn't fooled around enough with it to tell if it is the unit or bad cables.
All-in-all I would highly recommend it!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
Sound quality is utterly amazing. Clear, warm, exact. The 2i2 was plug and play with my Macbook Pro. Recognized in Garageband immediately with no problems what-so-ever. I thought something was wrong it was so easy! I did a lot of pre-research as I anticipated having to spend a few hours working out any issues. Fortunately my preparation for the worst was all for naught. I thought my setup sounded decent before- now it really shines with the addition of the 2i2. Do yourself a favor and purchase this unit. It is worth much more than the price in my opinion. Thank you Focusrite- You have a new dedicated customer!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
Killer solution for all of you who've been burned in the past by TASCAM and/or other USB interfaces. This one has PLENTY of gain, extra-ordinarily clean sound and unlike the TASCAMs in particular, the software and drivers nearly set themselves up.
Instructions are very clear and well written even for the novice user. I recommended this to a friend of mine in AL who is certainly no wizzard at electronics or computers, and she set it all up in 10 minutes and it has worked flawlessly for her since.
Best solution I've seen available in any price range for a 2 channel interface.
Line Level RCA output Jacks on the back would have been a huge plus, as well as this is engineered I'm really surprized they didn't do this one thing. Other than this, it's the perfect solution for me and most 2 channel needs.

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
When I first started recording, I used a Samson C01U usb condenser mic. I've finally upgraded to this audio interface with AT2041SP mics. I immediately experienced far improved sound quality. My fingerstyle is picked up with way more detail, and can barely hear the background noise or static. This interface is great for beginners, with 2 inputs where you can plug either XLR or instrument cables. It connects right into my laptop, and works with just an installation of software that comes with this product in a CD disc. I am definitely happy with this purchase!

Comments about Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB Audio Interface:
This product is very great for the price. The only thing that lacks is when you plug your instrument in, there's a little "pop", even if both instrument and interface volume are turned all the way down.
As far, this thing rocks. I've recorded a lot of little samples with it and it sounds very great. With Ableton Live Lite (included), I can add some audio effects and have better quality.
I didn't try the Scarlett Suite so far, so I can't say anything about it.
