This is a good quality recorder for basic applications. The package deal is great. The recorder itself get fairly good quality audio, but doesnt come with too many effects. The package deal is a great value. The mic, cable, and bag were all great pieces, but the headphones seemed lacking. As others have stated, you will probably need a bigger memory card, but they are cheap. Overall I'd say if you are an up-and-coming solo artist or in a garage band, this package is well worth the price.
This is a VERY cool litttle unit. I've owned it for about a week or so.It's Very easy to use,and sounds really good on the tracks. This is definitely the way to go for making high-qualitydemo or personal Cds. Great Value.
This recorder deserves 10 stars but the microphone cord that it come with shorted out the first few hours I had it. I suggest you invest in a new microphone cord. The mic is actually decent but im scared it wont last long. The headphones are mediocre. The guitar effects are not that great so just mic your amp and the vocal effects are great but kind of hard to control. But overall great recorder buy it.
I use this product simply to record unofficial demos for my band. This is not the best product to try and record professionally with, however it is useful if you have written many songs and want to demo them before you record professionally. I'll rate each component of this package seperately. The microphone: 1/10. terrible. I recommend that you buy a seperate microphone because the one it comes with only picks up the "Mid"dle end of your sound. Lows come in a little bit, and highs don't come in at all.The headphones: 5/10. They do what they can. They leak sound quite a bit but not as much as most cheap studio headphones. The cable: 10/10. Durable. No need to buy a seperate cable. The gig bag: 10/10. Protective. And it hugs the MR-8 well and doesn't take up too much space. The flash card: 3/10. Only enough space to record an entire 5 minute song. Just one. 128 MB.The MR-8: 7/10. Comes with four reverb effects. Delay, Room, Hall, and Plate. The delay is righteous. The mastering buttons, powerful, natural, and bright are worthless. You might as well use software to master each track by itself, which is inconvienient. The dynamic effect buttons help bring out the high ends in your track recordings, which is nice. The sliders surprisingly last a while. I've owned this product and used it many times for over two years and none of the knobs and sliders have busted. The MR-8 is highly durable and is also lightweight. It's also a very portable product.
