Galaxy Audio

A portable, feature-packed multi-mixer with optional battery operation.

The Multi Mixer is a great tool for live sound, home recording, field recording, audio/video, and many others. This unit features 4 inputs; channels 1 & 2: XLR / 1/4" combo with -20dB pad, channel 3: Stereo RCA and Stereo 1/8" mini (3.5mm), channel 4: Stereo RCA. Each channel has its own volume control. It also features numerous outputs including XLR, 1⁄4", stereo RCA, and a stereo headphone output with a volume control.

It will run off of 2 AA batteries for about 15 hours, or an optional DC power supply. It will supply +24V phantom power to microphones.

It is great for: 1) Adding inputs to an existing mixer by creating a sub-mix of two or more sources before sending the signals to the main mixer or powered speaker. 2) Serving as a sophisticated cable adapter that not only adapts the connector type but also provides the correct impedance with adjustable level control. 3) Serving as the main mixer for solo or duo acts as well as AV presentations. 4) As a mixer for rehearsals when its impractical to set up the entire PA. 5) Interfacing pro audio gear with consumer audio gear. 6) Battery operation allows remote location use where AC power is unavailable. 7) As an emergency back-up mixer to have along just in case.

Solid Little Mixer

About Me Experienced

      Best Uses

Comments about Galaxy Audio Multi Mixer:

This is a solid mixer for combining multiple signals to a mono or stereo main. I have had mine for several years now and use it constantly. I typically will have a cajon, guitar, electronic hand drum, and Macbook running through this live. I like the battery power option and the phantom power for powering my cajon electronics. The headphone option allows me to use this as a personal monitor as well. The preamps can have a bit of noise floor only if your pushing them hard. I just bring the signals in to the mixer hot allowing me to run the pre-amps low. I have virtually no unwanted noise on the mix out when I do this. This mixer has a metal case and has held up perfectly to the travels in my backpack for the last few years. Does exactly what its designed to do.

Noisy mono outs, great stereo outs

Comments about Galaxy Audio Multi Mixer:

This little box is great in concept for mixing XLR, 1/4" and stereo inputs down to mono and stereo outs. I've used it as a submixer for multiple instruments going into a larger mixer, for example. The mono outs (1/4" or XLR) are quite noisy, which requires that you manage the noise by keeping the gain on the main mixer low. Better to use the stereo outs, which are much quieter. If the mono outs were quiet too, this would be a versatile little problem solver. However, they are too noisy, which makes the practical versatility of the box a lot less than claimed.
