OVERVIEW

Complete PA sound package with speakers, mixer, mics and more.

Let's face it; some people go to shows and relate bad venue sound with your band's talent, regardless of how good your band may really be. House sound systems are usually anything but spectacular, so why not take charge of your own sound with a complete and affordable PA package? This package pairs together all of the main components you need for your band's next live performance including a pair of Kustom KPC15 15 Loudspeakers, a pair of Kustom KPC10M 10" Stage Monitors, the Gear One PA2400 8-Channel Mixer, four Gear One MV1000 Dynamic Microphones, four XLR mic cables, four ¼ speaker cables, and two Musician's Gear All-Steel Tripod Speaker Stands.

KPC15 15 Loudspeaker
The Kustom KPC15 15" PA Speaker Cabinet with Horn is a great cab for medium and small gigs. Its specially voiced crossover ensures clear separation of frequencies for crisp, full-range reproduction. A 15" woofer delivers deep; rumbling low frequencies, while a 7" x 15" horn (with overload protector) produces bright high-end tones. It also features two parallel input jacks, sturdy construction with reinforced corners, and a heavy-duty Tolex covering.

KPC10M 10" Stage Monitor
The 10" Kustom KPC10M Monitor Speaker Cab boasts a horn and a specially voiced crossover to ensure clear separation of frequencies for crisp, full-range audio reproduction. The speaker cabinet's 10" woofer delivers punchy low frequencies, while a 2" x 6" horn produces bright high-end tones. The KPC10M monitor cab is equipped with 2 parallel input jacks. Sturdily constructed, Kustom gives the monitor reinforced corners and heavy-duty Tolex covering. The Kustom KPC10M speaker also offers 30, 60, and 90 positioning.

PA2400 8-Channel Mixer
The Gear One PA2400 features two 400W amps that can be directed to left/right mains, mains/monitors, or bridged for an 800W mono. Each amp is plenty for powering most 15" two-way speakers. If you need a system with rock band club capability, the PA2400 has plenty of juice to handle the gig.

Each channel is equipped with a three-band EQ and FX/aux level, as well as a pan knob and a monitor level. Another feature of the PA2400 mixer is a pair of seven-band graphics, one for each amp. These make a huge difference because when you use monitors, they often need a completely different EQ profile than the mains. Having a dedicated monitor EQ lets you get more volume out of your monitors while avoiding feedback.

It features 24-bit FX processing with 100 preset selections including combinations of reverb, delay, echo, chorus, flanger, and rotary FX, each with variable parameters. Dialing up a preset couldn't be easier. You simply turn a knob until the preset's number shows in the display, and then press the knob to select it. The PA2400 has separate FX level controls for mains and monitors, and also provides a jack for connecting a footswitch that turns the FX on or off remotely.

Portable and ergonomically designed, with well-placed handles on each end, you won't break your back getting to and from your performance or practice space. The box features a tilt-back panel so when placed on a table, the control panel is at a perfect angle. If you are assembling a system that will let your band rehearse or perform, the PA2400 is a superb solution.

MV1000 Dynamic Microphone
The Gear One MV1000 dynamic, hand-held vocal microphone is ruggedly built with a crisp, clear presence, and cardioid polar pattern for rear isolation and higher gain before feedback. It comes with a carrying pouch, stand adaptor, and a one-year warranty.

Though I have been playing the guitar for almost a half-century, this is my first contact with a P. A. system. I ran into a problem right off because the owner's manual did not explain that the monitor speakers are plugged into outlets on the main speakers rather than into a "B" channel on the mixer. I have never run into that kind of hook-up, which a Musician's Friend customer service rep called "daisy chaining." The Gear One manual assumes previous contact with a mixer and P. A. system and so could use a much more comprehensive write-up. But through phone contact with Musician's Friend, everything has worked out very well. I don't notice the mics sounding cheap like a couple of the reviewers mentioned. I think that the tone sounds rich and full. The main speakers are very heavy. I got them onto the stands with no help, but it would be better if two people set them up and took them down. One of the grills on the mains had been slightly dented but those things are made of thick steel and so are made to take it. Since I'm an old fart I don't have years to fiddle around working up to this much of a system and the price was phenomenal so I went for it and am very glad I did, 'cause now I can finally rock out with no excuse not to! This is a large, heavy, solidly built, powerful, and high-quality-sounding system made particularly for larger venues.

Comments about Gear One PA2400 / Kustom KPC15 Mains and Monitors Package:

For the price, you can't get a better deal! Be aware you're not buying Allen & Heath or EAW here, you do get what you pay for. But with a little EQ, this rig sounds pretty good, and is easily expandable. Here's a quick rundown:
15" mains: Rated at 125 watts cont. They're pretty heavy and very midrangey, but again with proper EQ you can make these sound pretty good. You won't be playing arenas though. The input jack nuts should also be replaced immediately, as they're plastic and flimsy.

10" monitors: Rated at 75 watts cont. Don't throw much bass at them or they won't last long, but for vocal monitoring - and with the right EQ again, these work great. Plastic jack nuts here also.

Powered mixer: rated 250 w @ 4 Ohms, 400 @ 8 ohms output power. 7 XLR channels w/ 3 band EQ, decent sounding fully adjustable fx, 7 band EQ for both monitor & main amps. Switchable for stereo main, main/monitor, or bridged @ 8 ohms for 800 watts. Also phantom power. For this price you can't find a better deal.

Mics: Could be better, I don't use them. Cables: cheap, but work. Stands: cheap but work. Careful with the plastic knobs.

Bottom line: If you need a PA for smaller gigs that doesn't take a lot of room, is inexpensive, this is a great place to start. I've used it for 2 gigs with my 3 piece bands so far and it's done great. Watch the plastic knobs on the speaker stands though, they're a bit brittle. The caveat here is YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. It's very inexpensive, so don't expect it to be perfect, and don't expect it to be SUPER LOUD. For smaller gigs though, this works great, and is totally worth the money.

Excellent Purchase

Comments about Gear One PA2400 / Kustom KPC15 Mains and Monitors Package:

I haven't fully tested out all the gear yet at a performance, but so far I've been more than satisfied with it. My order was originally back-logged due to items being out-of-stock, but because you get so much with this purchase, it didn't bother me too much. It still ended up arriving within a week.

Originally I figured the gear would be lower quality because of the insanely low price, but upon opening it, I found everything exceeded my expectations. The mixer surprised me by being able to do much more than I thought it would -- the 1/4" instrument cables were very high quality. The XLR cables seemed to be standard quality, but 20' XLR cables aren't cheap to begin with. Both the speakers and the monitors were larger than I was expecting them to be. I didn't think 15" or 10" were as large as they turned out to be. All the heavy equipment came with handles to carry it. The mics are decent quality, and when you're getting four of them you can't really complain. Finally, the speaker stands to hold the 15" system were very strong and sturdy, and much higher quality than I was expecting.

Like I said, I haven't tested everything out in a real performance setting, but if they perform how they should, then don't hesitate to buy this package.

Comments about Gear One PA2400 / Kustom KPC15 Mains and Monitors Package:

Bought this to use as a PA for small clubs and venues. I was under the gun to get a system, and not having a lot of free cash, this seemed to be a quick fix compared to shelling out 150 - 300 per gig to rent. The "package" came in six separate boxes, shipping was quick and free. One damaged mic, as the windscreen was bent, most likely during delivery (I've never had a problem with returns at MF, so this won't be a problem).

I set it up with no difficuly at all, tested all the mics, cables, speakers, settings and then broke it down for the gig the next night. Set-up at the gig was quick and easy, balancing the sound with the band was a pain as they all want it LOUDER. With the separate monitor amp I was able to shut them up and keep the house sound equalized with the stage amplifiers. Nice FX functions, easy to adjust on the fly. Plenty of headroom on the output too. We played a 40x60 room that was about half filled with people and I had the output volume at about 3. It was plenty of sound and we had a long way to go before we ran out of headroom. The 15" FOH speakers really make a difference in creating that big sound you need. I ran the system with 400 each on the house and monitors (I tested the "bridged" output at home, where you get 800 watts to FOH and it practically blew me away). I can see a lot of use for this and if we play larger venues requiring the 800, I would consider using a second amp to run the stage monitors.

I kept the mixer/amp onstage on top on my guitar amp, the angled case makes it so much easier to adjust then if it weren't. All-in-all, I'm very impressed, definitely got my money's worth and with the exception of mic stands, this package has everything you will need.

this system is incredible I have it a few days now and I just used the mixer only this weekend and it sounds excellent.the main 15 in. speakers are a little heavy though but all in all the system is loud for the gigs. I have a 7 piece Latin Jazz band and they were impressed with the sound and the price I paid for it. It is good for church halls, rental halls (depending on the size), back yard B.B.Q.s (providing the neighbors don't call the cops) and band practice/rehearsals.

Mics are a little cheesy, but expected for the price. Effects are ok, external effects will enhance instruments. I am very happy with the equipment.
