I bought this unit six months ago as my first DJ setup, and with it i have now fully mastered the art of mixing-so in that sense, its a good unit to learn the basics on. the simple but effective mixer does everything you need it to. now the 'cons'..the looper is the only disappointment but with practise you can master it. the pitch sometimes freezes but you just have to press the pitch button twice and it comes back to life..no problems! some separate outputs on the back would have been nice too! those tiny complaints are all i can find with this. in reality, its a little workhorse and with the right care, should last a long time...at least until you inevitably upgrade to more advanced equipment. my verdict..a great unit for beginners, but DJ's spinning for more than a year will find it a little boring.as regards to durability..i have caned it every day for the last six months and it hasnt given me a seconds bother...

I bought this to DJ my nieces birthdays, and for that it works great, but let's focus on the cons. One thing they could have done to make this better would be to offer outputs for each deck so users could connect it to an external mixer. The search mode is almost useless, as soon as you move the jog the sound cuts in & out & gets filled with pops, search mode in pause mode is a little better but it acts like a cd skipping (frame repeat to number of clicks), though it does make for a cool effect. Not very easy to beatmatch with this unit at all, and while I do love the fader start feature, it does act a bit wonky at times. Finaly, the seamless looping isn't very seamless when you set it, music will dropout for a second then the loop comes in, and even at that setting a good loop isn't so easy on this thing. Overall I'm still glad I purchased this unit, it's great for partys or gigs that don't require a lot of fancy mixing, but it will allow you to do a little. It does have two outputs, one for recording and one for amp. It plays cdr's perfectly (though the guy who said it plays mp3's is full of it), which is ideal for me as I'll only use cdr's (or mp3 on my other system) while my original cd gets put away where it can't get damaged. So if you just need the ability to play the cd's with minimal mixing this unit is perfect, but if you're looking quality mixing ability save up & get something else, this is not for you.

Good Value

For the first time dj I could not suggest anything better for this price. It has just enough outputs and inputs and maybe too many pitch adjusters (total = 3/cd player).

First impression was great, all features and value. Small package, built in mixer, plug it in to amp and you are ready to go! But when I was about to take it out for a first gig, it died!Left pocket sometimes read cd's sometimes it says no cd sometimes it says error...imagine I had this thing only running for 20 minutes tops!I have tried all kind of cd's even a brand new one from best buy... same thing!Save up money for something better...Go with denon!!!

Has Potential But!

The equipment appears to have problems CDs consitently. Because that was the case, I was very disappointed in this product. It does have some nice feature though. Everything is built in and it is very easy to use. Even though you cannot scratch, you can do some unique blending tricks with the jog wheels (if the timing is right!)If Gemini could look into this defect, then why would have a winner.

Great product,Great price!

By Rob-GdDJS

I tried out the CDM-150 CD mixing console for the first time and it ran flawlessly.I'm an amatuer dj looking to get into the business so for me, this thing works really well.It has enough features for me to utilize without getting confused and the faders are smooth. I ran the console through a small 100 watt PA and pushed it hard at times and it read every track flawlessly including mp3s and other digital formats. I ran the console for about two hours straight, popping in disc after disc and had no problems, I loved it! For the money, you can't go wrong and if your a pro working dj, it would make a great back up unit. For us amatuers, this thing is great.

Some cons...

By Vallejo

I bought this as a beginner DJ and I have a lot of fun with it, however there are a few things that just make me feel like it's worth less than what I paid:The pitch control sometimes freezes on a particular pitch and you can't adjust it unless you hit the "pitch" button (which restores it to 0%) and then try again. The pitch has a 0.6% jump from 0% so you cant have -0.2% or +0.2% which makes beat matching difficult at times. The loop is basically useless if you want a solid 4 beats from a song for example. It cuts at awkward times and I just dont bother with it.There is no pitch lock which means that if you want a track to be faster, the pitch will increase as well.On the positive side, it delivers plenty of power for my monitor speakers and the jog wheel is very smooth.
