First would like to thank all at Musician's Friend. Get my orders quickly and always have a follow up after placing the order. The candy is nice, too.
These interfaces are fantastic. Negative reviews I read don't make any sense. Some complained about hissing. Last time I turned on a twin verb, it sounded just like it did in amplitube. Sounded great. 59 Bassman, Delux Reverb, Metal, Clean, Lead, all sounded great.
Bottom line--get it. Not hard to use and the support staff is great--issues were self imposed in the record setting. They got me out of it in one email.

This was a huge disappointment for me. Now for one the Feedback. I know there is a "No Feedback" option in the software, but it reverses the polarity of one of your earphones. So it is out of phase, which drives me batty. So I was able to turn it off and play just fine for a while. After getting out of the software and going back in, I about had my eardrums blown out. It was absolutely terrible. My poor headphones/eardrums! Odd thing, there is no mic to produce feedback... it comes from.. nowhere. And really should not be a problem at all.

Also there is a very noticeable hiss on the amp models. It is very loud. The noise filter effect helps but takes away all of your highs. The tone is terrible and there is no volume at all.

The software is in chunks, I guess you have to buy the 8 channel mixer portion separate, and it will not transfer to the fender or other alternate versions of Amplitude. Even if you get the paid versions of the apps.

I did not buy this from MF, however delving into the hype I did order the iRig Stomp from MF. Unfortunately it shipped before I could get a cancel order request in. I will be sending it back, the sofware just is not worthy of my Twin Reverb. It will just destroy my tone. If you consider yourself an Audiophile in any way. Run away. If you want something to play around with and don't mind your headphones running out of phase, by all means, check it out. It is a neat toy in its own right. Just not what I was looking for, which was a cheap way to record some riffs and learn my way around recording software. Unfortunately it fell way short.

Comments about IK Multimedia iRig - Audio Interface Adapter for iPhone, iPod, iPad:

Good inexpensive addition to my Ipad 3. I use it mostly for recording guitar/bass into the Beatmaker 2 app. I just really started messing around with it but I was pleasantly surprised with the sound quality that I heard from audio recorded with this compact device.

Comments about IK Multimedia iRig - Audio Interface Adapter for iPhone, iPod, iPad:

It was almost given away in a stupid deal of the day, and I can see why. Every effect from different amps to effects pedals costs an additional fee to download. At the highest volume levels I could still barely hear the guitar through headphones, and it was distorted when I wanted it clean. Also at medium sound level, which was barely audible but allowed for a cleaner tone, the device introduced a background buzz.

Comments about IK Multimedia iRig - Audio Interface Adapter for iPhone, iPod, iPad:

I bought this to plug into my iPad and practice the bass along with songs our band is playing. The free app "amplitude" was a bit time consuming but well worth it. I can put all the songs from our set list in one place. Amplitude will even let me cut out the voice so I can hear the instrumentation better. The loop feature allows me to mark sections of songs that I need to work on and repeats over and over. I play it through a Fender G-DEC and it sounds fine. This gadget is well worth the price and I am delighted with this purchase.

Comments about IK Multimedia iRig - Audio Interface Adapter for iPhone, iPod, iPad:

I purchased the iRig to connect my guitar to an iPad for use with IK Multimedia's Amplitube. It works flawlessly. Just plug it in, start the app and you're making music.

I can also use it with my iMac for recording with GarageBand and getting some really great tones with Amplitube 3 amp modeling software.

Note: To use the iRig with an iMac you must plug it into the headphones output, NOT the mic input (if your iMac has one), and set the sound preferences / input for internal microphone. This should also work with most of Apple's newer laptops and Mac Minis.

I teach guitar, so i have amps at my studio and amps at home. I wanted something that I could use with my iphone to give me decent sound to practice with. This delivered! It works well with other ios recording aps as well. I recommend downloading the Amplitube Fender ap from IK as well. I downloaded the free version, and to my surprise, it is a Deluxe Reverb. Sounds great! will it rival Abbey Road studio in sound quality? Not really, but it is so much fun to play!!

Comments about IK Multimedia iRig - Audio Interface Adapter for iPhone, iPod, iPad:

Having received an iPad for Christmas I wanted to explore the world of guitar amp sims. The thought was that I could use my iPad to play some gigs rather than hauling out my full rig. I did not want to spend much at first, as this was still considered an experiment.

With that in mind, the iRig does exactly what is expected of it. However, after several weeks of using it and playing live with this rig, I started noticing how noisy this system was. It was less noisy on patches revolving around a clean guitar sound as opposed to higher gain settings, which one would expect to be the case. Unfortunately this noise requires me to use one of my FX slots in JamUp XT Pro for a noise gate, which does not remove the problem entirely, but does make it more bearable at the sacrifice of some tone and dynamics.

After doing some research, I have found that the noise in the system is coming from the iRig and is due to it's connecting to the iPad via the headphone jack on the device. In the course of researching, I have found that this is a common problem for the entry level iRig and that the higher level interfaces that use the 30pin or Lightning port do not have this issue.

I would definitely buy the iRig again. It has served me well so far. Now that I know that I want to continue working with amp sims and that they are viable for my needs, I will probably upgrade to the iRig Pro so that I can integrate a midi footswitch into my live setup. If I were not wanting to integrate that midi footswitch, then I would probably upgrade to one of the Apogee products.

As an entry level product, however, the iRig is a definite winner. Just be aware that you will have noise in your signal.
