OVERVIEW

Set yourself free from the cable that ties you down.

The Intellitouch Freedom One provides a high-quality 24-bit digital wireless link between an instrument (guitar, bass, etc) and a pedal tuner, eliminating the cable normally attached to the instrument.

The Freedom One has two components: A compact wireless transmitter that plugs directly into a standard 1/4 inch output jack on a guitar or bass, and a pedal tuner with a 1/4 inch output that connects to an amplifier or other effects pedals.

The Freedom One's pedal has a built-in tuner with a large backlit display that changes from red to green when in tune. The tuner is automatic, chromatic, and displays the measured musical note on a large LCD screen for fast, easy tuning. The pedal also has a backlit footswitch that is easy to find on a dark stage. The footswitch turns on the tuner display and optionally mutes the output while tuning.

The Freedom One's pedal tuner also has a useful feature to save batteries - a backup input jack for an audio cable, so that the pedal tuner can still be used without the wireless transmitter. If a user wishes to consume no batteries while practicing, they simply plug the pedal into a standard 9v effect pedal power supply and connect an audio cable from their guitar to the extra input jack on the pedal. This feature's purpose is really for the environment, and is not needed for performance, as the Freedom One's transmitter squeezes an astounding 10 hours out of a single AAA battery.

Both the pedal and the transmitter are made from a strong, fiber-reinforced polymer. Effective range is 30 feet - plenty to cover most performance stages and practice rooms.

I got mine on June 11 and posted a review based upon a couple of hours of use. I had no idea how it would hold up to being shared by numerous basses and guitars as well as an electric upright. I did not know if the plug would stand being changed from multiple instruments several times every day.

So far it is working fine and the plug feels solid. I had concerns regarding the micro switch on the unit but again in 2 months of daily use it works fine too. I try to be careful when I am changing it to another instrument and it's paid off.

One small concern was that it occasionally dropped out. I have found that with the tuner-receiver, now more centrally located with no physical obstacles between it and the transmitter that problem has been minimal. The only time it happens occasionally is when I have my back to the receiver. By the way the room is 12x16. I will say that it has worked when I walked out of the room and down the hall I could still hear my guitar so I guess it depends on what's between you and the receiver at the time.

Other than that I would buy another one if mine does break, but I think it'll last. It's tougher and sturdier than I thought it'd be.

I received a gift certificate and bought an open-box for about half of the cost. It works well with my bass. The sound is clear, the tuner works. The major problem is that you cannot link this to other pedals. If you do it will hiss like a mad cat. It does tell you this in the instructions but it would be good to know up front....now you know. I use this strictly for practice at home...keeps me from tripping over my cable. I would not recommend this for pro gigs.

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

I received this last week and played with it all weekend. I immediately started running around like a fool with my guitar and having a blast! I think I underestimated how much fun it would be to not be dragging a cord around.

The transmitter is tiny and only uses one AAA battery. I practiced several times with it, and I'm still on the same battery. The transmitter folds in half and is small enough to put in my pocket. The 24-bit audio sounds really good. It sounds pretty good on my bass too. Range seems ok for what I'm going to use it for.

The receiver is about the same size as the boss pedal tuner that it is replacing. The mute switch doesn't make a loud click like most pedals. The tuner seems faster than my old one, and the backlit display is really big and easy to see. I've used other Intellitouch tuners before, and this one is pretty much the same. I really like the fact that it has an optional cable input in case I get somewhere and forget my transmitter or my batteries.

All in all, a ton of fun to be wireless. Sounds great too!

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

I think this is a good product for jamming around the house or with friends at home. i have been at least 25 feet away with no problems and it does sounds good. i did buy a power supply a (PSA-120) and I have had no buzzing or sound problems at all. the thing is that it is a cheaply made product the ,on off switch is real cheap and it seems like it could break easily. the switch could be a bit larger also. the hole product is made of plastic, that is why I say don't take it to an event or performance. i could be wrong about the durability of this product but this is still a good item for home use and I would recommend it to my friends I would just make sure they know what it is made of and about the switches on the product. P.S the transmitter that plugs into the guitars is cool you don't need a cable. the transmitter is built right into the plug witch can be put in different positions so it don't stick out far from the guitar, but the switch on that is real small also and the tuner is cool also so all in all good for the price

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

Just got it and it's going back.

Noisy if used with power supply instead of 9 volt battery. They suggest using 9 volt battery in receiver, it's quite when using 9 volt battery.

If using a power supply they suggest not connecting in line with other pedals on your pedal board instead use separate isolated power supply

I use a one spot for my pedal board I had another one and tried it for the receiver it did not help, still noisy.

If I have to buy 9 Volt batteries for the receiver and AAA for the transmitter, that kind of defeats my purpose of buying this unit. I wanted to eliminate buying 9 volt batteries for the transmitter unit I now have, the 10 hr on AAA batteries would have been a big plus.

Lose of tone even if you're plugged in to receiver hardwired with guitar cable and not using the transmitter, this is not acceptable.

All the ideas they had for this wireless unit were very good they just didn't pull it off.

Big disappointment, wish it had worked out.

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

Unit arrived on time and neatly boxed. Very easy to set up. Basically plug and play. Signal was loud and clear. (maybe too clear)

The tuner works well and the display is readable from anywhere in my room.

The signal, while clear added some high end to the sound. When I used a cable the sound was better to my ears but some tweaks on the amp's EQ compensated for the unit's added highs. Some may like the added highs but I did not.

I play in a small home studio 10x16 and am never more than 8 feet from the receiver yet the unit dropped the signal occasionally, especially when my back was turned and the transmitter was not pointing at the receiver.

I think that this unit is a bluetooth type and while handy and easy to use it lacks the overall quality of my pro quality wireless.

The transmitter requires extra care in inserting and removing from the guitar jack. If handled incorrectly I believe the plug will break from the unit. With care it shouldn't be a problem.

I would not use this for performance due to these issues.

You get what you pay for and I am not unhappy with the unit but I would not buy another.

Comments about Intellitouch Freedom One Digital Wireless System:

I REALLY like my Freedom One digital wireless unit and tuner. Absolutely zero problems yet. So some people have had problems. If you are a pro, buy pro equipment. Here around the house, I can wander around and not worry about the cord or amp. Leave the amp in the bedroom, turn it up loud, and walk/run around practicing your poses and moves, or sit in your armchair and blast away. Maybe it isn't tough enough for gigs and pro venues. But it is a great thing to have for playing in the house. And what do you want for under a c note? Very long battery life too. Have a blast at the house. Julia from Texas
