Just what I was looking for...

After a 4th floor walk-up gig carrying my older 47 lb. EONs, 4 passive JBL floor monitors and heavy Mackie amp, it was time to go lighter without sacrificing sound quality.     Because of their light weight and good sound, these are the first PA speakers I        ve owned that I        ve hooked up in my basement to listen through between gigs.     I use them in conjunction with a dbx DriveRack PX which smoothes the sound in that particular room, I then role off the highs somewhat (16K).     I can listen to rock or classical through these and they sound like really good stereo speakers          that can play REALLY LOUD. This is a high compliment coming from a recovering audiophile.

8-)

I don        t need the built-in mixer          I use a 16 channel Yamaha          but now that I have it, it gives me options for simple acoustic gigs that I didn        t have before.     I like that.

My 4 year old EONs just work          dependable.     These appear to be made at least as well if not better.

I was willing to pay for lighter weight, higher max SPL, and good sound.     Good value.

it is a ok speaker but there are better speakers with 1000 watts out there like the jbl's prx 615 prx 612 and the qsc k12

the the newest eon 515xt series in my opinion are the best but you are basically paying for the light weight design and technology. They do not hit with enough bass so you would definitely need bottoms jbl need to make a newer eon 518xt to go with these nice looking speakers. it is a huge improvement over its predecessor.

nice design love the all black color and aesthetically pleasings strong build

you are paying for light wieght design and technology and the name brand priced high

Purchased a pair of these about 3 months ago and have used them on several gigs paired with PRX618 subs.Wow they sound great with crisp clean mids & highs and more than enough bass to use them without subs in small or medium size venues. But paired with the PRX618 subs now your talkin, a real room shaker. In closing I would strongly recommend that anyone serious about there sound give these a test drive before making any other purchase because they have " GREAT BANG FOR THE BUCK!..

I am a vocalist with a WIDE range. I need LOUD speakers with NO feedback. I have played on countless different PA systems....... never really happy, until I got this Puppy! All I gotta say is, you can't go wrong here! Excellent crisp highs, plenty of solid lows.....the first time I used it, plugged up my SM58, turned the volume to level 4, belted out some vocals, and had to turn it down! It sounded great! I then plugged in my Sennheiser e935 Mic, and was simply blown away by the clarity. That's just the beggining! You can plug 3 inputs to this speaker, allowing for multiple uses and setups. The BEST benefit is the 625 Watt built in power amp. Yea! 625 watts for ONE speaker! If you are sick of weak sound systems, or tired of messing up your vocals by trying to sing more loudly, GET THESE SPEAKERS! Great PA, lightweight, doubles as a personal monitor, even sits on the floor at an angle or on a PA stand! BRAVO JBL!!!!!! I love you guys!

The Little Speaker that REALLY could...

I have a bunch of buddy-musicians. Many are soloists, like me. Some are in bands. I have friends who love QSC active enclosures. Others love the L1 compact. One buddy is sold on Behringer stuff, because it's so inexpensive. Bottom line: everyone's needs vary somewhat. But for my preferred combination of venue type, audience, input requirements, repertoire, SPL/headroom, and budget, this box absolutely meets all my requirements," hands down.

Three input channels - two 1/4"" Bal/UnBal"," and one Neutrix XLR & 1/4"" combo jack - each channel with its own volume. Global Treble/Bass controls. Plus XLR out for Link or Mix. 625 Watts"," total between 15"" Woofer and Hi-freq diaphragm. 32lbs. Carrying handles at sides and top. Spkr stand port at bottom (standard size).

Typical JBL - Rugged and does everything it promises. Fit and finish is excellent", but I recommend a protective bag or cover to keep it from being gouged/scratched from load-ins/load-outs.

Soundwise? Very evenly-tuned, and this was critical for me, as I'm using a single 515XT for solo guitar/vocals (classic rock and folk, plus originals), with backing tracks on roughly 2/3 of my repertoire, covering a broad spectrum of sounds (CSN to Clapton to Taylor to Foo Fighters to Steely Dan to John Mayer). So, I needed something very clean that could cover 50 seat to 200 seat venues, and do it all very well. The new EON does it with performance envelope to spare

I also didn't want to spend the money for a Bose L1 (and the L1 compact didn't have the power/headroom I sometimes need). I researched just about everything out there. Price for dollar spent, this box is easily the best deal going.
