Okay...ive done alot research on monitors that would best fit "MY" studio. Price range $400-$800 Ive went to my local music store and A/B'd these against Mackie Mr8, KRK ROKIT 8, M-Audio BX8s. All I can say is WOW! Huge Difference. I needed a monitor that could get LOW and stay clean while being played loud. I make Techno/Rap/Pop music. www.JRUMBEATS.comAnyways...Ive had these about 4 months now...so heres "MY" opinion on the monitors. The "LOWS" on these speakers are great, and they can stay low without distorting the mids and highs. The "MIDS" are nice and relatively flat, they do not boost the mids to sound more appealing to the mixers ears. The "HIGHS" on these will blow your mind away. After you adjust the Hi-Freq on the back of the speaker you will deff be pleased. I mean these monitors GET LOUD and will not distort. These monitors also have a soft rubber pad on the bottom of them to eliminate any unwanted vibrations. My Cons - Power Switch is on the back of the monitor. Thats it, these are a solid buy and you will not be disappointed. I have also tested Mackie Hr824 Mk2 and KRK VXT8 against these JBL LSR 8"s...Mackie is trash but the KRK VXT8 were actually really great...but a little out of my price range...hoped i helped!!!

Overall the monitors have a nice set of features, are a little too hyped for my taste, have a design flaw that I can't get over, and could also serve someone well in spite of that.
These monitors actually sound fairly good. I've had Yamaha NS10's, Mackie HR824's, Mackie HR624MKII's, and also mixed on JBL LSR 6328 P's. I've a semi professional recording, mixing," and mastering engineer and producer and have made about 50 or so albums and demos and also worked at a professional 24 track 2"" recording studio as well.

In comparison to these other monitors I would say that the JBL's are very good for their frequency range", particularly because, like the Mackie HR824's, they go very low. I slightly prefer the Mackie's, which cost more. These JBL's are a little too scooped for my tastes and represent music in a way that reminds of what a hi-fi sound system does to sound -- ads a little highs and lows and is missing in the mids. The monitors are clear and if you get use to them and how they translate (as you need to do with all monitors) I have no doubt that they will serve you well, and the price is certainly right. For my needs I couldn't justify keeping these because of their scooped sound and what I saw as a design weakness. Thats said, the monitors do have a lot of features, including some nice foam padding on their base, which is nice.
I ordered a pair of these recently because my Event Precision 8's blew a tweeter and are just known for having electrical problems in general I thought I'd just get a new set of monitors. The first pair arrived and one was fine, while the other monitor was placed into a larger shipping box with virtually no padding (one large piece of crumpled paper) and so was free to move around. When I opened the box the monitor was in it was clear that it had been dropped as the styrofoam padding was crushed and broken on one corner and the faceplate of the monitor where the speaker and tweeter are mounted was loose and able to move around. Another set was sent to me, but this time they sent me a monitor that wasn't in it's manufacturer's box at all and just free floating inside of the same large box. The manual was taped to the top of the monitor and this time the entire faceplate where the speaker and tweeter are mounted was broken off. On the third set I could still tap the faceplate and have it move around. It looks like it's almost pinching the woofer at points and that the opening for the woofer isn't shaped quite right to fit the speaker.

So my quality rating is difficult to quantify because, other then the poorly designed faceplate, everything else about the quality of the monitor is very good.
The monitors would be a great value if they solveed the poorly designed faceplate problem.

Comments about JBL LSR 2328P 8" Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor:

As I continue to upgrade my studio gear I spent a lot of time and consideration on studio monitors. These are the fourth pair I have bought for my studio and I am so happy with them. My previous pair was a set of Mackie HR824mk2 speakers which actually cost more than these do but they do not put out the bass and the power these do, these sound noticeably better. My tweeters kept blowing in the Mackie?s so I wanted a new pair.I have done a lot of mixing and understand the importance of good studio monitors; you just cannot find a better monitor for the price, if there was one I would buy it. The amp in these is good quality and these will give you an accurate playback of your mix. While these speakers are still new to the market once the word gets out others will have to lower their price to compete with these, they are that good. JBL is making a strong statement with these. I am glad there are finally a set of monitors that give professional results without killing you wallet, don't let the great price shy you away from these. They rock!

Comments about JBL LSR 2328P 8" Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor:

Slightly larger/deeper than I anticipated which could make positioning tricky in some studios. Build/style/appearance seems great. Of course sound is the bottom line and they are working beautifully on a remixed lite jazz song I'm finishing. A LF X-over would sure be handy. I use them with the LSR2310P Sub, which has the X-over built in. However I have a couple other pairs of monitors hooked up with a Big Knob switcher. Using the sub with the others requires not using the subs crossover with these. So all the desktop monitors are in full range mode all the time, and then the sub can be added to any combo. It seems to be working fine, so maybe it's not really a big deal. They really sound great, but I would say they are not nearly as mid-present as my smaller Alesis monitors. They are a great contrast, but I think using them and a pair of "NS-10 sounding" monitors is probably a really good idea for mixing.

Comments about JBL LSR 2328P 8" Bi-Amplified Powered Studio Monitor:

The best sounding speakers I have ever used. I have them in a semi-professional recording studio & have been using them over a year. They never fail and have a good flat response, the bass is good and the mid's and high's are excellent. The subwoofer for this systems would be a compliment, but not requirement. For the money, you just can't go wrong.
