Popular KAOSS pad technology in a DJ mixer!
The Korg KM-402 KAOSS mixer merges the effects and revolutionary interface from the KAOSS Pad, six different types of EQ, and an adjustable crossfader curve to deliver a most unique DJ mixer.
A DJ mixer with an integrated KAOSS Pad opens new creative doors. With the innovative KAOSS pad, you manipulate effects using the tip of your finger. The unique touchpad changes multiple effect parameters at once to create unique timbres. The simple and intuitive interface has made the KAOSS Pad one of the most popular effects processors in the world.
The 4-channel KM-402 DJ mixer combines the KAOSS Pad's effects and interface with a pristine 24-bit digital DJ mixer complete with adjustable crossfader. Their streamlined design and integrated KAOSS Pad sets the standard for an integrated mixer/effects processor, allowing a style of mixing and performing with effects that is unequaled. With one hundred effects programs, a "Program Memory" key for quick save and instant recall of your favorite programs, an "FX Release" function that keeps delay and reverb tails intact through preset changes, and a "KAOSS" button for assigning the KAOSS Pad to each channel, the KM-402 is the ideal choice for every type of DJ wanting to incorporate effects into their performance, no matter where the stage is.
The KM-402 integrates one hundred powerful effects from the KP3 KAOSS Pad, all with the unique fingertip control that made the KAOSS Pad famous. These effects range from filters, phasers, delays, and reverbs, to unique effects such as a real time looper and synth section.
The included presets combine simple elements such as delays and filters in ways you've never imagined to provide a wealth of inspiration. With the KAOSS Pad's unique ability to "touch" your effects, the KM-402 mixer provides a new interface to effects that will take DJing to the next level.
EQ manipulation is a staple of DJ performance. In response to this need, the KM-402 takes advantage of full digital processing to provide six different EQ types to suit any sound, from powerful high-pass filters to unique "Hyped" and "Isolator" EQ curves. Every channel has a dedicated three-band EQ (Hi/Mid/Low) that responds in different ways according to the EQ curve that is currently selected from a simple six position selector.
These EQ types have been created based on the opinions of numerous famous artists; they include EQ curves that cut only the low frequency region while boosting the midrange, as well as extremely drastic EQ types that use the knobs as isolators for each frequency band. This capability means that the EQ knobs are now a core element of your DJ performance, and take advantage of the integration with the KAOSS effects to create performances that use EQ in a new and unique way.
As you would expect from a full-featured DJ mixer, long throw faders and cue controls let you set the mix and lock your beats in real time while cueing silently through your headphones.
The KM-401 audio mixer's crossfader response is as personal as the DJ using it. The adjustable crossfader curves and calibration function let you set up the mixer to your personal style. Whether you're mixing dual decks, triggering from a laptop or integrating other sound sources, the KAOSS Mixer adapts to your style and personal touch.

I have this mixer for about 6 months now and still have no major complaints about it. My only thing is it does not have a record out nor does it have a separate channel for an MC. You need to plug the mic into channel 1 and then change the switch to mic, unless you don't have an mc a lot of the time, then should not be a problem, in my case though, I usually tend to have one on stage with me.The effects are absolutely insane. The Kaoss Pad mini is the exact reason why I chose this specific mixer. How can you go wrong with 100 different effects? Considering other mixers with effects these days cost upwards of $1,000, this was a no brainer. The faders on this are about a smooth as can be, especially the cross fader. It would be great for any scratch dj.The EQ selection makes a large difference depending on what kind of dj you are. Whether you blend, mash, cut, or just straight up mix, they have an EQ setting for it.The sound quality that comes out of this mixer is simply amazing. I would compare the sound quality to the likes of pioneer, vestax, allen & heath. They really did a good job on making this fairly inexpensive mixer sound like the big boys.Highly recommend this mixer to any beginners as well as any dj that has been in the scene for a while.
Anyone looking for an integrated multi-channel and effects mixing solution need look no further than the Korg KM-402. This mixer is solidly built and output quality rivals that of other mid and high end mixers. I mix and scratch and am impressed by the variety of styles this mixer can handle. From breaks to juggling to heavy scratching, this mixer can hang with the best dance and battle mixers out there. 4 RCA, 3 Phono, and 1 Mic allow for plenty of different setup combinations and effects can be applied to single or multiple channels. The EQ features are also equally impressive. Everything is very intuitive. Korg has come out with a winning product!
