KRK

KRK's glass-aramid cone technology sets a new standard with even better performance and accuracy!

KRK's Rokit G2 (Generation 2) powered studio monitor is designed to give amazing performance and accuracy for the home or project studio. The G2 Rokit has radically curved edges which virtually eliminate diffraction and provide a wider sweet spot. The Rokit G2 also features a great looking cabinet with a front-firing bass port and KRK's trademark yellow glass-aramid composite woofer and soft-domed tweeters. Dual high-power amplifiers in each speaker and active crossovers provide smooth and accurate reproduction. The Rokit monitor has the most accurate response curve in its class ensuring that you hear all of the details in your mix.

The KRK RokitG2 Series takes value-priced monitors to a new performance level. All of the great stuff that Rokit's have been known for (front-firing bass port, soft-domed tweeter, glass-aramid composite yellow cone) are still there, but the G2 Rokit's feature refined voicing and a new curved baffle that looks great, reduces diffraction and provides even better monitoring accuracy.

Welcome to the all new Generation 2 Rokit Powered

Studio Monitor Series from KRK Systems. For years the Rokit series has been a popular choice for accurate monitoring in studios large and small. Now the all new Generation 2 Rokit studio monitor provides a new standard for even better performance and accuracy, raising the bar once again.

No Pain With Gain

Why compromise gain structure to achieve a comfortable listening level? As musicians and recording people themselves, KRK asked that question too. So each Generation 2 Rokit monitor comes with an Input Volume Control that provides an adjustable gain range from +6dB to -30dB. Just another way the Rokit lets you focus on your mix, and not on compatibility concerns.

Catch A Wave, For A 3D Mix

Recessed tweeters may look the same, but they don't perform the same. KRK has designed a superior tweeter wave guide for the Rokit that provides optimal high frequency pattern control and focuses the sound outward, away from the cabinet. More conventional designs direct sound along the plane of the cabinet where waveform interaction can cause phase problems and increased diffraction. KRK knows a properly engineered high frequency wave guide is a critical component to great sound, and one key to KRK's award winning performance.

You've Got Connections

At KRK, the focus is your mix. But it doesn't stop at creating accurate monitors. KRK appreciates the need for monitors that not only sound great but work easily into your particular setup. That's why you'll find plenty of input options with your Rokit, sure to accommodate any studio environment. So if it's RCA, quarter-Inch (balanced/unbalanced) or XLR inputs you require, Rockit has got you covered.

Even More Accurate Than Before

KRK took a great monitor series and made it better. KRK's engineers and listening panel took the Generation 2 Rokit's speaker voicing to even more accurate levels. What you hear is what you are intended to hear, coloration is not part of the spec. This performance is brought to you by drivers that are custom-designed by KRK's world-class studio monitor engineering team, for clear, low-distortion performance.

Take Control

While your Generation 2 Rokit monitor leaves the factory voiced to demanding specs, KRK also knows that no two rooms "sound" the same. As such, each Rokit speaker comes equipped with a High Frequency Level Control. This feature provides specific adjustment of high frequency output most commonly affected by room acoustics. It's just one extra level of control that KRK gives you to ensure the most accurate mix for your
particular room's acoustics.

Don't Be Square, Curves Ahead

The new Rockit monitor looks different, so it can sound better, and in a wider "sweet spot". Traditional rectangular speakers suffer from diffraction as sounds leaving the edge of the cabinet are reflected back into the original sound field, and at different time intervals. This phase distortion creates a "narrow" or boxy" sound. The Generation 2 Rokit series eliminates this issue with radically engineered curved surfaces, so diffraction is virtually eliminated. Simply put, you'll get better sound in a wider area.

Let's Be Up Front

Take a look at competitive monitors and you'll find ports on the back of the cabinet. These rear-firing ports tend to create bass coupling with walls and corners amplifying low frequency information which will color your mix. The superior design of the KRK Generation 2 Rokit's include front-firing ports, which are just the right shape and taper to reduce port turbulence. You'll appreciate the clean and accurate bass performance this approach delivers even at high SPLs.

Power Up!

A great sounding monitor doesn't stop with a great cabinet and custom drivers. KRK's true bi-amplified amplifier system provides discrete low-distortion power for each driver. While the active crossover systems provide smooth and accurate frequency response, and again, accurate diffraction control.

Note: Monitors are sold as singles.

I own the Red ones and when I first got them I was completely blown away with the detail I was missing both in my mixes and general listening.  I have since gotten different ones (too good of an ebay deal to pass up some KRK V6 Series 2, with a 10S sub), and I like the V6's a little better, they handle bass a bit better, the highs seem more accurate and the separation of frequencies also seems a bit better.  Although I never would have thought the ROKIT's were at all muddy before I compared them, after A/B testing them, the ROKIT's sounded slightly muddy to me. Although I havn't A/B'd them, with the Behringer Truths, I have listened to some Truths, they are much louder and have substantial more bass, but seem significantly less detailed.  Add a 10" sub and these ROKIT's will blow you away.  The 6" ROCKIT's on their own are not super loud, especially if your wanting intense bass, but when used for what they were made for, they have plenty of volume.  Although not really intended to be used for this purpose, I once DJ'd a dance (maybe 100' long by 60' wide room, 30' or so tall) using these and bass amp (Fender rumble 100) to fill in the low end, the mids and highs really carried and not only was there plenty of volume, it sounded quite good.  I am super impressed with KRK's service.  My ROKITS have been just fine, but I blew a tweeter on one of my V6's, the only online dealer I could find wanted nealry $60, I called KRK and they sent me a tweeter at no charge, and that was for used V6's I got on ebay!  Bottom line when it comes to detail, these are pretty sweet monitors in this price range.

Starting a home studio right

Features:

One may not expect features on a speaker, but this may have more than the average music geek would even understand. Gain, HF controls to adjust according to the room environment, an unbalanced rca line in, a balanced/unbalanced 1/4in line in, and an XLR in. Super slick. Basically, I can keep all my radio shack adapters in that converse box behind the desk.

Quality:

Again, I'm no guru but these speakers are heavy. Heavy speakers = heavy components. The sound quality is astounding. The can handle a good chunk of bottom end. The highs are crisp and the mids roll nice. They don't replace an actual subwoofer but then again, you wouldn't want them to.

Value:

200 bucks a piece?!? You kidding!? That's as affordable as it gets for speakers of this calibur.

Overall:

These speakers are super nice. You won't regret the investment. One warning though - as with all powered speakers, make sure you have a true mixer pluged into these that can get them up to line level, and always turn the speakers on last and off first.

Fantastic Monitors!

Features:

Nice variety of monitoring inputs -- Balanced XLR AND TRS, plus an unbalanced RCA.  Removable power cable is always nice too.

Quality:

For the price, you'd have a hard time beating these.  They are very flat sounding, which is what you want so you are hearing your mix and not your speakers.  Definitely appear to be well made, and I've had mine about a year now with no problems at all.  I would recommend playing about 4 days straight of music through them when you get them to break them in a bit.  Mine took a LONG time before they seemed to 'settle in'.

Value:

Again, you'd have a really hard time beating these unless you spent a lot more money.  Could you get something better?  Sure.  Are these bad because they don't cost a huge amount each?  Not at all -- they will stack up with monitors that are much more expensive.  A lot of pro studios seem to use these as a second nearfield monitoring option.

Overall:

If you are self producing or recording on computer speakers or headphones, these speakers can singlehandedly give you a HUGE quality boost in your finished products.  They will allow you to listen much more accurately and fix things you might not have noticed in your mixes before.  So like everything having to do with music... use your ears -- and these will help you do that.

This is my first set off studio monitors but I have been in the production game for several years. These monitors are beautiful and when reading reviews about how they sound like crap because they have a flat response is kinda misleading. I think they sound great, but maybe thats just me or I think my music sounds good regardless.
