OVERVIEW

Great sounding and very affordable.

The Kustom KPC10P is a 50-watt powered PA speaker with a 10" Kustom-built loudspeaker and a piezo HF driver. The PA speaker is tuned to deliver rich, balanced tonality while accurately reproducing a wide variety of audio content.

The Kustom KPC10P powered speaker provides balanced XLR and TRS 1/4" (balanced/unbalanced) input jacks. These may be used to connect a wide variety of line level devices such as non-powered mixers, preamps, keyboards, drum machines, and other audio devices, including music players such as iPods and CD players. A volume control adjusts the overall level of the Kustom powered speaker.

A TRS 1/4" line out jack may be used to daisy chain 2 or more KPC speakers for a wider dispersion of sound. For example, if a non-powered audio mixer has been connected to the Kustom KPC speaker's input, the line out of this first speaker may be connected to a second speaker's input. This is a daisy chain and it often requires shorter cable hookup lengths versus connecting the second speaker directly to the audio mixer.

Since its inception in 1966, Kustom has produced high-quality, affordable PA speakers and audio equipment, and the Kustom KPC10P PA speaker continues that tradition.

Lotsa Midrange!!

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

The shipping container and the description here both say "50 watts RMS." I don't think so!! Not by my ears. My 15 watt Hughes and Vettner is as loud as this speaker. My 45 watt behringer bass amp drowns this speaker out, when not even at full volume. Has bright midrange sound, very little low bass, and weak on highs. Nice little package, though! LOVE THE SIZE. ACtually, i'm gutting the thing just to use the cabinet, and i'll use the amp elsewhere with good speakers, at 4 ohms instead of 8 just to get more oomph from the amp. Nice idea, but again, NO WAY 50 watts RMS.

Very Convenient

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

I love these little guys. I got them to set up in my music room for practicing. They are great for that kind of application but they probably won't serve you to well at a show. When I'm playing with drummers they do have a little trouble keeping up, just because there so small and at just 50 watts, what do you expect. They do exactly what I want them to, so I can't complain.
Stupid simple, which I like. Very easy to set up and use.
The sound on these is what you would expect for what your paying. They are great for a practice space but they don't have the volume or the quality for gigging.
Kustom always gives you what you pay for.

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

I bought the 4" version of this thing, and it sounded pretty good. Then I saw the 10" version, and it was on sale for the same price I had paid for the 4". Bigger is always better, right?

As usual, Musician's Friend was very accommodating. They let me return the 4" and shipped out the 10" immediately.

Admittedly, I am not a technophile, but I thought for sure the larger unit would suit my needs better.

Instead, I am disappointed with the lack of volume this unit produces. I have to have it "cranked" just to get enough sound out of it. We use it as an add on to my computer so that we can listen to the tricky parts of songs during band practice. As soon as one guy taps a note on his instrument, this thing gets drowned out and we have to yell for everyone to "Stop" so we can hear it. I was expecting it to be much louder when I saw that it was a 50 Watt powered unit.

Beyond the 45 day return window (totally my fault) so I'm stuck with it. I'm sure that it would be useful to someone more knowledgeable than me, since they would know what to expect from the specifications of the unit, but for me, this was a disappointment.

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

Good speaker/pa. Not a lot of power but enough, gets the job done as long as you are coming out of a mixer of some sort. Not made to connect a mic directly, so don't do it, must come from a mixer.

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

Fuzzy sound. I did a bunch of troubleshooting and wound up returning it for a replacement but the replacement sounded just as not good. I'm not playing very loud either. I got it as SDOD so I guess it's not too bad but I'm sure if you spring for a little more you can get something much better.

Comments about Kustom KPC10P 10" Powered PA Speaker:

If you don't have an un-powered mixer --then you will be disappointed in these. You will not be able to get the sound levels high enough unless you crank the output volume all the way up on your device. You ***can't*** use an amplifier before these speakers either, ---more than likely it will burn out the amp that you are trying to use in addition or burn out the amplifier inside the speakers. If you have an unpowered mixer you can adjust the levels of your instruments/devices. I turned the volume all the way up on the Kustom 10" then just found the correct volume controls on the other devices before mixing it. The other problem is that the specifications do not list the ohms for these speakers. Another reviewer stated that they were 8 ohms (he said he was going to remove the existing amp inside the speakers and just use them as a cab), so he might have seen the specks on the speakers when he took them apart.
Once you get the levels adjusted, the speakers are just fine ! Plenty of sensitivity, and not a lot of distortion. Actually they are very well behaved once you figure them out, and they sound pretty good. I think these are designed for a small venue or practice studios. They are solid as a rock. I can tell --they can handle a lot more than what we throw at them. We use them for practice, and they are perfect for that,( maybe even a little overkill). We beat the cahoonies out of them, and they don't even blink. I'm not a roady, so I can't help anyone on that world.
